Very beautiful but the knives are all rusty now. i have another set of villeroy and boch flatware and they never had this issue. the quality of this set is inferior

Knives rust.

The knives have rust marks on them after only a few uses. I now see that other reviews show the same complaint. The flatware feels nice in your hand and is a nice weight.

Knives are a bit weird to hold because of the twist between the handle and the blade. The teaspoon handles are a bit short. Villeroy and Boch are known for quality and I think these sets were marked down because of some errors in manufacturing.

Beutiful Set of Utensils

I love the reflection from the spoons. The knives are fine in my hands (unlike some other reviews who complained about the angle of the twist). I wouldnt pay full retail price, and was pleasantly surprised that HomeDepot had the lowest price on this. I am giving a 4 stars because of one negative…. The soup ladle handle (or whatever the official name is for this) is about 3 inches too short. I would expect to use this to serve from a deep bowl or a pot. The present dimension would equal epic fail as it would sink into the bowl or pot. What was the designer thinking????

Upgrade to a better product.

Bought this Flatware set as a replacement of my cheap China made products. The quality of this product is supered. The weight is much more heavier, the feel is different compare to the cheaper product. Spending a little more on the long run will make sure the product will last for a while. Upgrade to this brand if you're looking for an replacement set.

Beautiful and contemporary look, heavy weight cutlery set. I bought these expecting them to last (hopefully forever considering the price!), however after only a few months of minimal use, most pieces are becoming pitted, or losing their sheen, or are showing rust marks. The issue in the attached picture is showing on the majority of pieces (which does not buff out, believe me I've tried). I am so disappointed! And the cost, even on sale, is not worth it to me. If I could get a refund I would. Perhaps these are defective sets from the factory that couldn't be sold in store? Regardless, buyer beware.

My favorite

I have been using this set for years, prior to that I used a set by Christofle. I LOVE the fact that the pieces are smaller but still feel substantial. Who needs to put a pitchfork in their mouth? This set brings me back to when I was a child and flatware was normal sized. I am back for more. Am going to try the steak knives too!

Really nice and I'm picky.

Bought this set for my second home, then I purchased two sets for my main residence. At my home, I had been using a solid sterling silver set. I found as the pieces tarnished, my children would be turned off by the look. They thought the vaca house set was of higher quality, it wears much better and is easier to care for. Also, my children tended to throw the silver pieces away with their to-go containers, which was giving me heartache at this this reasonable price, it's not as tragic. The set always them to enjoy using this cutlery, while still meeting my expectations. It's solid, heavier than solid silver. Modern looking, less traditional than I've had before but it has a stunning look. Even when I use it, i feel like I'm fine dining or on vacation. I'm picky and I really like this set. My sister also bought a set for her family after she visited. That's a big compliment. I'm not a stranger to V&B, I think they make nice reasonably priced pieces.

Love this set! So pretty so far washes well in the dw w no rust spots. The only criticism is the knives have that pretty twist that is more right hand friendly- where you place your index finger. Lefties place their finger on the opposite side but the twist is in the other direction if that makes sense. The shafts handles are thinner in style than normal and may feel a bit too insubstantial for some hands. I have no problem with them love the style.

Even though this is really a beautiful set, the knives of this set is very hard to hold. At the end of the handle it has a twist, so the blade is at an angle. You can’t cut anything in this position. You have to twist you hand sideways for the blade to be straight to cut something, I’ve tried different positions, but I find it almost impossible. Several people tried and can’t understand this design. I thought of buying different knives, but they wouldn’t be a match for this set.

I was so excited about this flatware. It looks really elegant and I like the shape, look and feel. But as quickly as two months after purchase, the first rust spots started showing on the knives' handles. Now, just barely 6 months after purchase, the knives handles are riddled with rust and the spoon and fork handles are showing rust spots too. I am pretty disappointed. I owned no name flatware that is still rust free after 10 years and the brand one rusted in a few months. Our dishwasher is only 2 years old and we use only gentle and environmentally friendly dishwasher tabs. We have a special flat 3rd rack for flatware, so the cleaning is the most gentle one available for flatware and yet...rust. I am very disappointed!

Home Depot had the best price on this set. This flatware set has great quality and nice weight to it, despite the thin handles. I've already received many compliments from guests at my house. The only negative I found was with the soup ladle. The soup ladle has too short of a handle and slips into any soup taurine I've put it in.

Too many issues

The set is beautiful at first glance. Shiny! Too shiny! Shows fingerprints. Second, after washing before use, I could not get the flatware into the drawer without too many fingerprints. Next, the knife with a unique design will not sit next to the plate. The knife will sit on the plate but it is not balanced well and will not sit next to the plate. 3rd, Very flimsy. a few of the knives had a different twist - slightly but different. After working with the flatware, trying to get it to look clean in the cutlery tray, and on the table beside the plates, I realized these were not for me. I never even tried these out. Just getting them prepared for use, made me realize they were not right for me. Returning!

Incredible

The pictures don’t do this justice. They are elegantly simple. They are sleek and easy to store in s small space. They are nicely weighted and easy and pleasant to hold and use. The spoons do appear small, but the spoon size is “standard” when it comes to the amount it will hold. I usually hand wash, but have washed in the dishwasher on the upper shelf for lids or small objects. They wash up great either way. No hint of rust, spots, etc. The set is just wonderful and a pleasure to see and use. I got it at a sale price after much deliberation. I’m so glad I did. I really love the set.

This is a replacement set as the first set I received had many defects/blemishes. Birch Lane handled the matter with expediency and sent me another set right away. I was able to pick and choose between the two sets to create a perfect 64 piece set and was able to donate the other set.

This set is excellent value for money. For the price and style, it's hard to beat. The flatware is a good weight, creates a beautifully contemporary place setting and cleans well in the dishwasher. We've had a lot of compliments on this set, so much so that we recently bought a second set. I highly recommend this set to anyone looking for a modern, good looking, good quality flatware set.

Very elegant and stylish but....

This set is so beautiful and has a nice hand feel. They look great on the table, but the knives are problematic. The shape is fine, but I'm noticing some pitting on the finish. In fact I sent the first set back because the blades had little nicks in them.

I had seen these at the Villeroy & Boch store originally, but couldn't justify spending so much. They were retailing for $95.00 CAD per place setting (so for 5 utensils...and no serving flatware). Wayfair's prices for these were absolutely amazing! It was too good a deal to pass up, so I bought 2 sets from Wayfair (for a fraction of the in-store price). The design might not be for everyone since the pieces are very modern. Truthfully, the knife seemed a bit awkward at first, but I actually prefer it to regular knives now! The weight of each piece is really impressive. There's nothing low quality about this set. They're extremely sturdy and I use them every day. They were purchased over a year ago. I throw them in the dishwasher and/or wash them by hand and they're holding up beautifully. No complaints. I get compliments about them from all my guests. Packaging was great too. They arrive in a solid box and each utensil is individually wrapped to ensure that they don't get damaged during transport. Overall, I could not be happier. Price, packaging, quality, everything. Great job, Wayfair!

Good design, not made in Germany

I hesitated for a long time if I should buy this big flatware set or not. I love all the V&B dinnerware products, very special, amazing design, and premium quality. About these flatware, I didn't know before I bought, but I really wanted to try. when I got them, actually not good as their dinnerware line, and not as what I expected, but honestly the flow wave shape design is good, as least meet one of my expectation. A little sad that they were made in Indonesia, not Germany. I decided to keep them, just because I really love V&B!
