Even better than I expected!
I love this bench! The description does not do it justice. I thought I was getting a cute, lightweight plastic bench. I had no idea what polywood was, so I was surprised by the weight of the box (50lbs.) This material is so sturdy and durable and even comes with a 20 year warranty. It is heavy enough to withstand some of the strong winds we get occasionally. Another surprise is that the inside of the seat and base of the backing both have stainless steel supports. It was fairly simple to put together, but you really should use a screw gun to attach the gussets. I love that the seat is contoured which makes it super comfortable! It is large enough for two adults or 3 children to sit together. Highly recommended this bench!
Beautiful bench, however, what seemed like a very simple assembly was made extremely difficult because holes were not properly aligned. Had to go off script and loosen all bolts and with 2 people over a substantial period of time was finally able to use and align all bolts.
Poor quality control, not worth the money
The back piece didn’t fit correctly with the sides. I had to shave one side down to fit, and the part you screw into on the other side wasn’t fixed to the end. Once I got the bench together it was wobbly. I think I had reasonable expectations and for a $400 bench this fell way short. Maybe Polywood would have sent out replacement parts had I asked but I just wanted to buy a high quality bench and be done with it, not do clerical work so they can do their quality control on the back side.
I ordered a green 2
I ordered a green 2 seater bench. which took almost 3 weeks to arrive but it was worth waiting. Instructions and accompanying tools made it easy to put together, my spouse did it lol. I am 5’ 2” , the seat is perfect and the back rest is comfortable. This beautiful bench looks great around our new fish pond. I love it! I also bought a lime green side table 18”x18” I love it too! I highly recommend these outdoor furniture by Polywood that’s made to last in the outdoors.
Great product, great company- manufacturing defect
I have multiple Polywood products, and know they are quality and hold up over time. They are also very comfortable. The bench I received has a manufacturing defect where the parts do not fit into the slots, making the back of the bench wobbly. Ordinarily, I would give a 1 star review for this but given how happy I have been with the brand up until this point I'm giving 3 stars. They do have a good warranty so if this bench fails because of the defect I hope they will replace it.
Perfect!
We absolutely love our Polywood furniture! It's comfortable, looks nice, is sturdy, and feels like it will hold up in harsh weather. The Vineyard Bench and Newport Coffee Table are a perfect combination and fit nicely on our smallish deck. We paired these with a couple of Nautical Rockers and it's now our favorite spot. We shopped around a little and found there are a lot of options for nice outdoor furniture, but when there is a quality American-made product made from recycled materials and with great customer service, it quickly outshines everything else!
Meet me at the Bench!
This is the 6th bench we have installed in our community over the last 3 years. The first ones still look as good as the most recent. We place them on Tennessee blue stone slabs to keep the mowers from knocking them about. It's amazing how many people now come out of their houses to sit on these benches and talk with their neighbors. Best acquisition ever!
Happy mother on her new bench!
Excellent product. Went together easily. Very sturdy. We bought this for our elderly mother to sit on at the farm. This bench replaced an earlier wood bench that rotted away. My father passed away a couple years ago but my mom swears that sometimes dad is still with her sitting beside her just as he used to after a day of chores on the farm. My mom says the bench is very comfortable and feels as if it was custom made for her.
Awesome Polywood service and product
Purchased this bench and two side tables in black to contrast and blend with the 7 piece Lakeside Table and Chairs we purchased a year ago. Very well made and easy to assemble. Took about 1 hr including unpacking. Does take two people to assemble due to large size to align properly. Very straight forward, only 16 screws! Comes with tool but power screwdriver really helps.
The product is pretty basic. It has some heft to it but still feels like there could be more support towards the middle of the seat. Some of the holes were predrilled incorrectly so we had to make new holes. Not terrible but not great. Will do what we need it to do.Probably wouldn’t spend this much money on something like this again.
Nice bench
The bench is nice. My only complaint is that some of the holes were drilled incorrectly. I had to buy alternate hardware to complete the assembly. Not a huge deal, but I had similar issues on my previous order. Parts were missing, incorrect replacements sent, so I had to cut and drill to complete. This is not that complicated. Polywood, you need to work on your production quality!
Built to Last
As property managers for a high visibility retail store - these were the third order of Vineyard 60" Benches that we have made in the last 25yrs. Our benches are positioned on Ocean Drive - about 200' from the Atlantic Ocean. To say that they are of a great quality, durable and surpass my expectations is an understatement. Salt air, constant wind, sand and even the occasional hurricane have had little effect on these benches. They are so well made.
Polywood’s the Best!…
This is our second polywood bench. The first has already spent a couple of New England winters out in deep snow and freezing temperatures, yet still looks brand new….with no damage of any kind and no fading! Polywood is absolutely the best when you intend to leave your furniture out in the elements year round. The pieces are sufficiently weighted so there’s no need to worry about them blowing off the deck or patio. We love our Polywood furniture, and are so happy that it’s made in the USA!
OK garden bench, not very comfortable
Bench is not deep enough for my comfort (I’m 5’11”). I have another Polywood bench and multiple chairs that are far more comfortable. Serving as a garden bench, where it gets less use, it’s fine. The package was missing a screw; the company took several business days to respond to my on-line request for a replacement part (which is supposed to be the fastest way to receive support), but they sent the part several days later. Overall quality is good and very easy to assemble. Recommend trying this bench (if possible) before buying, to make sure it’s comfortable for you.
so sturdy, comfortable and lovely!
Sturdy, easy to put together and looks great in front of our house. It took two of us to put it together mostly because it is a bit unwieldy. Directions are easy to follow. I would love it if there were brighter colors offered! I was worried it would be too hard to be comfortable, but the slight roundness in the back makes it way more comfortable than I thought. We purchased a cushion to go with it but seem to be fine without it. So far we’ve sat outside and watched the sunset from it numerous times and we’re really enjoying it. UPDATE: we've had it for a while and we love sitting outside in the evening looking at the starts or watching the neighbor's kid play. We've gotten quite a few compliments!
Large but love it
I love it. In hindsight, 48 inches would be a better fit for my needs, but I still love it. It measures 60 inches. The teak color is perfect. It is made of recycled materials and has a 20 year warranty I doubt I would ever use. By myself, it took me about an hour to build with easy to follow instructions. The last couple of screws were tricky and tested my patience. I looked everywhere, did not see how much weight it can hold, although it is meant to seat three people. I definitely would recommend.
Nice Sturdy Bench
This bench came very well package and there was no damage to the item. The bench comes in just a few pieces that you have to put together. I was worried that I would have to be putting all the slats together myself but no it the back and seat come completed. You have to put the arms on and attached the back to the seat. It come with a couple of corner pieces to give it a more finished look. This bench is very heavy and nice looking. When I sat on it, to my surprise, it was quite comfortable for a hard surface. This bench is heavy so you won't have to worry about the wind blowing it over. The finish seems to be very tough but easy to clean so it should last for years to come. It also looks great. I already got compliments from my neighbors.
Polywood is a Clear Winner for Durability and Looks
This POLYWOOD bench is our second bench from Polywood. We got a 60" brown bench a few years ago. It looks almost new after sitting on an covered patio all this time. The black bench has a nice classic and hefty look for our front porch. The black looks great with our white house and black shutters. My husband put this together very quickly. All the holes matched up. The texture of the plastic is very nice and is a nice matte finish. Polywood is made in the USA from recyclable plastics. You can read more about the furniture on their website. https://www.polywood.com/ I believe the furniture is well designed and made. We are older and we have had many types of outdoor furniture over the years. Teak is very nice, but it does need a bit of care now and then. Cast alumimnum is nice, but we have found that even the expensive lines need touched up after 20 or so years. And of course plain plastic, looks like plastic, and steel can rust at some point. Polywood seems like a clear winner to me for durability and looks.
Polywood Rocks our Dock
Love these. We replaced our old treated lumber benches on our pier with three of these 60” benches and one table. We did have to purchase stainless steel hardware to anchor everything down: L brackets and stainless steel screws, nuts and bolts to anchor each leg onto the brackets and then anchor the brackets to the decking boards of our pier. We purchased the powder coated stainless steel black brackets from www.houzz.com they cost us an additional $90 per bench, plus tax. I would suggest you offer the stainless steel L brackets, screws, nuts and bolts as additional hardware accessories for purchase. We also ordered the 60” backless farm bench which arrived today and we will assemble and install tomorrow. What a nice and sturdy bench. The legs are so durable.
Very nice bench! Seems well built and should last a long time. Only caveat is if it sits in the sun the polywood (at least the cedar) gets very hot so you are going to want cushion. Assembled in about an hour with included torx tool. Did not use power driver because I was afraid of over driving and stripping. 2 people would make assembly easier. I put my bench seat on a bucket to attach sides. You do need drill to make holes for the little brackets that go under seat. Every thing else is pre-drilled and lined up for me.
