received damaged

product was damaged, missing finish pieces. crew in holes didn't match. videos offered didn't match the product. worked 7 hours on this, still haven't completed. I will use a permanent marker to hide messed up parts. Putting IKEA furniture is so much easier. I don't recommend this product.

I would have given 5 stars if not for one oversight. A few months ago I bought the matching desk. I liked it so much that I bought the matching lateral file cabinet. While assembling the file cabinet, I realized that the knobs on the drawers of the file cabinet were bright silver colored while the handles on the desk were oil rubbed bronze. I now have to purchase new knobs so they match the handles on the supposed matching desk which is going to cost me another $30.00. Great file cabinet but the silver knobs with the select cherry finish is an epic fail.

Very nice piece once done, assembly is long.

I looked at many pieces before ordering this, I liked that it was deeper than most and the top has a lot of space for printers and things. A few notes, the cherry finish is nice and not too red, more of a brown. The cabinet itself is heavy duty and has a good quality look. Now the cost of that, it takes a long long time to put together. There are many pieces that have to be attached to each other and this takes a long time and you will need 2 people for some of it. I read many reviews about things not fitting well or aligning. I did not find this, except in one case where the pre-drilled holes were not aligned right. Luckily, I was able to overcome this, but otherwise everything fit well. My thought is that those having issues with alignments are rushing and not being careful. It is very easy to over tighten screws and strip them (I did this once but it was my fault), that is why you can not use a power drill and that extends the assembly time. I do not consider myself an expert but I am not new to putting furniture together and it took over 5 hours to put this together. If you take your time and pay attention, you will be rewarded with a very nice piece.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this file cabinet and company

First of all, the finished product is beautiful and makes my home office look wonderful. It is also super-sturdy (so, it is heavy, and, as another reviewer said, build it in the room where it will stay). Another reviewer mentioned the drawers are cumbersome to pull out, I do not have this issue at all, you just have to adjust them properly and they slide like a dream. Yes, there are a lot of pieces to put together, it's a file cabinet with moving parts and sliding drawers, I didn't expect otherwise, I knew going into it that it would take some time to put together (don't try to do this in an hour or 2, or you will be frustrated). But I am much older, and I still managed to do it just fine, without help. A small part was missing, so I called the company (Sauder) and they sent it to me without any issue at all. Several days later, I broke the thin wood bottom to one of the drawers as I was installing it and called Sauder back, fully expecting to pay for it, since I had broken it, however, once again, they just sent it to me with no charge. I have to say that rarely, today, does a company stand behind it's products, but I was very pleasantly surprised and pleased with Sauder and this product. I will never buy office products from another company, their products are very well designed and made, and they are very helpful. For those folks complaining about all the pieces and work, well, buy one ready-made or buy the assembly package, if you buy a kit, it's going to take a little work, but, in this case, it's well worth it!!
