My standard Chirstmas Lights for 5 years
I started buying this style and brand of lights 4 years ago and have gradually replaced all of my lights with these. They look great and Lowes has kept the same product each year. I hate dealing with a mishmash of lights that are not the same style. I also bought more this year to put on a couple of friends' homes that are not able to do for themselves to spread some Christmas cheer.
New "Warm White" Color
Bought two strings of these lights to substitute for several strings of "warm white" lights that had burnt out because they were older. They are NOT the same color of "warm"!! I am of the belief that companies do this so people can't replace older items, they HAVE TO BUY entire sets to replace them!! It's pathetic!
Work fine look great
Pure white light. You can really see the difference if connected with old style “white” lights. They do flicker, as someone else mentioned, but only when you move the strand. Once set they’re beautiful.
The lights aren't warm.
The lights are described as "warm" on the box. I chose them on that basis. Regretfully, they are anything but warm. They work, and once the ornaments are on the tree, it won't matter much that the lights are cool.
Strings go out after 1 year
Multiple strings (4/10) had half the string out after one year. 1 bad bulb turns off 50, huge hassle to find the bad bulbs. Why make strings that are so hard to identify bad bulbs??
GE labled, but not made by GE
Dont let the GE trade mark fool you - These lights are JUNK ! Last I season if you are lucky. 'Sections' of the string fail / go out. Forget trouble shooting them - there is no logic / instructions to do so. Customer service, forget it - 3rd world that has poor telephone connect ! LOWES .. really you could do better - unless of course there are supply chain issues.
Last 1 year
I purchased 8 sets of these last year and used for about 30 days. This year 4 only partially work and 3 do not work at all. I spent time troubleshooting and switching out fuses, as well as looking for bulbs to replace to no avail. If you have the budget to replace annually then maybe these are for you. The quality is low and will not last Otherwise I recommend another manufacturer.
Don't last
Bought 8 sets of these lights last year and only put them on the indoor tree. Went to put on the tree this year and 6 of the sets are not working properly and only 1/2 of the lights at most light up. 2 of the strands seem OK so far, but will not be purchasing these again. Very disappointed in this purchase.
Lasts 1 year
I bought 8 boxes of the GE StayBright 100-LED miniature lights (warm white/green wire). The lights worked great last year for a period of about 30 days. When putting the lights up this year, 3 light sets were found to have sections that did not light up while 3 did not light up at all. Fuses and bulbs were changed and checked. Interestingly the dead sets could still pass a current, so if you need an extension cord it could be useful. If your budget does not plan for replacing lights annually, I recommend using another Vendor if going for LED light bulbs or looking at other options.
Trouble free Christmas cheer
Got tired of my old incandescent bulbs not working. Got these on sale and they are great. All 8 packs worked perfectly right out of the box. They don't get hot at all which is nice piece of mind on a real tree.
1 year light set! :-(
Same experience as others in reviews like the one "Lights don’t last more than 1 season." I just got around to testing these lights today 11/25/24 after purchasing ~30, 100 light sets last year. Started testing the 6 white light, 100 light strands I used on my small crab apple tree. All worked for approximately 6 weeks of timed lighting last year. Today, each of those 6 strands had sections of lights out. Changed fuse, made sure all lights seated properly, etc. After working on first strand for roughly 20 minutes to no avail - then encountering the same issue with the other 5, I trashed 'em. Going back to incandescent lights that were ironically much more reliable (stays lit when other bulbs fail) or go to a different, more reliable LED light vendor.
43% Failure Rate when used Outdoors
Put 30 warm white strands outside last year for the holidays. Went to put them out again this year and 13 strands have dead sections. That is a 43% failure rate!!! I did use 5 strands indoors and they seem fine. RUN AWAY from these lights if you plan to put them outdoors.
Disappointing
Avoid these lights. I purchased 22 strings last year, 10 of which are partially or fully out when putting them up this year. I had purchased LEDs thinking they would last longer than incandescent lights, but at least with this brand, that's not the case. I had expected more from the GE name. The troubleshooting methods provided by online service are time consuming and unhelpful. The warranty process requires you to pay shipping to return the lights even after providing evidence they are not working and receipt. At that point it's easier to purchase other lights.
TRASH
I got 2 years barely out of these lights. We usually do incandescent bulbs but decided to invest in some good ones we wouldn’t have to replace but every 5 years or so. Lol. That’s funny. I’m mad. Who makes the kind of money to be able to to waste it on stuff marketed and priced as good quality?
Amazing Lights!!
I love GE Christmas Lights!! I have bought so many GE Christmas lights over the years. Have bought 5 sets of these and they are amazing! I had some old incandescent decorations that the lights burned up. I was going to junk them but came across these lights and they work perfectly now! I also use these outside too. I always try to expand my Christmas display every year. The only brand I look for is GE. Thanks for making such awesome Christmas lights GE!
These lights are terrible!!! Bought for Christmas decorating and they didn’t even last one season. Bought name brand and they said a 3 year warranty well I bought mid November 23 and by January 2024 half of them don’t work. This happen to both sets I bought.
Great product, but pricey when not on clearance.
Great product and tend to keep the same color of LEDs across the years. Have strands from 2018 - 2023 and very happy with the product. Main issue is LED leads break occasionally, but much better reliability than incandescent lights.
Do not stay bright
I was trying to be more environmentally friendly by purchasing LED lights, but these lights have been way too problematic. Whole strings or sections of strings dimmed or went out entirely after only a few nights of use. There was condensation visible inside many of the bulbs after a rain despite being rated for outdoor use. Fuses and bulbs needed to be replaced, but as someone else mentioned, the replacement bulbs provided do not fit into the sockets. I may have to go back to the good old, cheap and reliable incandescent mini lights that lasted for years without problems like these. The LEDs looked nice for the few hours they worked, but tossing yards and yards of plastic strands and LED bulbs into the trash is not going to be very environmentally friendly. Very disappointed.
Stay away from these cheap lights!
I bought these because they are GE (mistakenly thought this meant quality), and they are LED (they should last a long time, this is why incandescent bulbs were outlawed right?). Well unfortunately I was wrong on both accounts as the lights lasted less than 30 days before a section of 10-15 bulbs went out. But these have a 3 year warranty so I thought great at least I'm covered, wrong again! When you read the fine print you have to pay to ship them back for repair/replacement (this alone would cost close to the full price of new lights), also mentioned in the fine print is that burned out bulbs are not covered under the warranty! I honestly couldn't be more frustrated and disappointed to seemingly throw away money every year on lights.
ordered LED lights but they were incandescent
I ordered a few boxes of these LED lights right before Christmas and I checked to make sure they worked but noticed they were incandescent lights. Lowes wouldn't issue a refund because they're a Christmas item and cannot issue refunds after Christmas. Lowe's is scamming people by putting cheaper incandescent lights in LED boxes. Don't buy these from Lowe's.
