GFCI Failed Catastrophically!

I installed several of these several months ago and all has seemed fine until today when one of the GFCI outlets started clicking rapidly with nothing plugged into it or it's protected outlets and a strong electric odor filled the air. The circuit breaker tripped after a few seconds and I removed and took apart the outlet to find that the outlet had shorted and killed itself internally on the board. This was a very dangerous failure of a device designed to protect against this sort of issue.

The original builder-installed GFCI circuit was false-tripping and had to go. There's a few things I just don't want to use a no-name brand, and anything that is supposed to keep from me or family from getting electrocuted falls into that category. Outlet includes the same options and features I would expect to find on commercial grade outlets to include tamper resistance and led indicator.

Multiple bad ones

I haven't purchased these my self but I install them on a daily base at work, multiple times i installed them straight out the boxes and they buzz and blow right away, they tend to be going bad within a month to 4 months, every one keeps asking why the spot for the light indicator doesn't light making hard to realize it's either tripped or loss of power, and my opinion they look alittle cheapy made

Bad Outlets, Fire Hazard.

Had two outlets go bad after a couple months. Starting buzzing and blew out. Fire hazard, do not recommend.

Really, how bad can añ outlet receptacle be? It installed easily and worked as expected. We have not had any house fires or other electrical problems since installation. It rates very well in my book.

This square D - TR GFCI 15A RECEPTACLE gives a nice asthetic change to the standard outlet. It has matching faceplates too. The square shape adds just a little touch of uniqueness. It is simple to install if you have any DIY experience with electrical devices. Go get you one.

I’m glad I got this plug cause it came with the shut off button in the middle and my restroom needed one of these plugs cause it’s perfect to use next to our sink. So I like that it has that safety switch so if it gets wet or it also so it won’t pop the breakers
