I have two of these now

This awesome crate is really well constructed. Love that there are no fasteners for puppies to chew off and swallow inside. Outside, the bolts holding the crate together are inserted from the top with a robust plastic nut screwed on from below. Puppies are less likely to chew on this plastic nut configuration when the crate is used in a pen. The two doors secure smoothly and securely. Having the top door makes cleaning easier along with another option for handling your pup.

Do not buy

I should have listened to the reviews posted. The top does not stay open. You can’t even prop it open. Then this morning when I finally got my cat in the door locking pins were intact but the other side of the door came out of the three hinges. I could only get one part to go back in place and could not slide, snap, insert - nothing - the other two hinges. This was the worst carrier I’ve ever had.

Easy to assemble and it was easier putting my cat in a top loading carrier.

Top entry latch is not quite right

I love the idea behind this crate. It’s large enough and the opening on top is perfect for cats reluctant to get in. My only complaint is that the top opening doesn’t latch well on one side. I have to manually push the rod into place to lock the top so that I can use the handle to carry my cat. It’s a bit frustrating and I’m still not sure why it’s not latching correctly. I thought about returning or exchanging it but just decided to live with it for now.

Petmate won't fix factory error

There was no front door included with ours, purchased through Amazon. They referred me to Petmate, who said they couldn't help - but managed to send me a link to BUY a 'replacement' door! Why should I have to pay to 'replace' something I never received?

For a very small cat, or a guinea pig.

My cat is full grown, but about half the size of most cats. She does fit into this, but without much free space left over. It is solid and well made, and I find it much easier to use than soft-sided carriers.

User friendly!

Love this crate. Good for very visits. Only issue is the top lid slams closed instead of staying open and also pops off. Once we fixed it, it's great!

Petmate two door top load cat kennel

I bought two of these for my 16 and 17 lb cats around 5 years ago. I have had good results with them except recently one of the top doors came off where it clips in the back with 3 plastic clips. I cannot get the clips back in and no longer trust it to stay back on if I did. I am going to buy another one since my cats are so big and hard to get in front doors. What I am going to do is get adjustable luggage or tree straps and wrap them around the top and bottoms and tighten to secure, just in case one of the tops comes off again.
