I needed access to the coaming around the cockpit. I went in from the cabin below. Put this is afterward for a cleaner look - no screws visible.

For a light use area only

To be honest was disappointed with the product and will not be able to use it in the application intended. This is a light weight cover, not for use in a walked on area of a deck. Very thin, best application would be on a vertical surface where you want an access port. It is not suitable as a true deck plate.

I purchased this deck plate to replace my worn out deck plate on my 93 sylvan super select. Glad to see beckson still made this product and it was as simple as screwing in the new cover. It still fit the original mounting ring so I have a spare if I was to break one down the road. Transaction from seller was quick and received in a timely manner.

The pros: it fit my kayak, was easy to install. The cons: why you selling this without the screws!? That makes no sense! Seriously? The cap is a bit "wonky" in that if you turn it too tight you struggle to remove it. But if you don't get it tight enough it will just pop off randomly. I honestly can't say I recommend this cap. I would prefer to get screw in one if I had to do it again.

Leaky Cover

This was installed on fiberglass flat horizontal panel. Leaks water terribly. Don't waste time or money on this unless it is for indoor use!

Although they are marked as being unsuitable for standing on, which is odd for a product called a "deck plate," they are strong enough to withstand use flat on a deck. I have had one installed over two years and it gets stood on all the time with no damage.

Well made, Looks great. I like this design where the cover covers the entire housing rather than fitting inside the retaining ring. Very neat and finished looking. The covers fit very tightly and are sometime difficult to undo - probably just need a bit of Vaseline on the threads.
