Awesome air filtration and heat
As an air purifier and a space heater, it’s amazing. As a fan or the “cool” part of it, not so much. I bought this hoping to replace 3 devices used in my office/sun room. The fan definitely works but when set to Auto the fan barely produces any wind at all. It would be nice if I could set the fan speed when in auto mode. Also the color is hideous and doesn’t match any room in the house. Nickel and gold? I might as well have a bunch of black lacquer and gold accents everywhere with green shag carpet.. it’s 2024 not 1979
Good - but also dissapointing
Purchased this device to replace a Gen 1 Pure Hot & Cold (also bought a Big and Quiet on the same purchase).
Good looking unit. Worth buying?
I'm not someone who usually leaves reviews, but I must this time. In general, this is a nice looking machine, larger than expected it but works. However, when it comes to filtering pollen, firewood or chimney smoke from neighbors it left me wishing it worked better. Needless to say, especially given the cost. I also have a hp model (much cheaper) that in a few ways out performs this unit. The fan seems weaker than expected, the filtration is questionable. I tried another test of the filtration that worked as expected. This test that provided expected results happen when we sprayed lysol through the house. The unit was in auto mode and quickly cleared the air when it detected and came to life. It produces heat, it cools, filtration is questionable at best. Is it worth the money? I don't think so, but your results might vary.
Absolutely the best purifying fan heater I have ever owned
From the moment I powered this on I could tell it was in a different league to other devices. It is completely different to any fan/cooler I have ever owned. It is almost silent when set to Auto and when on max settings it is the rush of air you hear, not any mechanical noise of blades taxying for liftoff. I downloaded the Dyson app which works just as well on my iPad as it does my iPhone and started to explore its features. At first, it's easy to dismiss some of the features as "nice" but "not really necessary" but as I explored the different settings, I quickly began to understand that this is way more than a device for just keeping us cool, hot or getting rid of cooking smells. The information on the display is useful if you are sitting very close to it but the app more than makes up for this supplying all the stats you will need to see what is being filtered out of the air and how quickly it is doing this. The other morning my wife put some scented moisturiser on her arms and almost instantly it registered with the fan heater. The app gave a clear description of what it had detected, namely something scented, and began cleaning the air. It has done this with cooking smells and er, other household smells we won't go into here 😊
Avoid at All Costs!
I bought this product in February from Harvey Norman when there was a heat wave in New Zealand.
The Review I wish I had read
Brought this product directly from Dyson as we were very hot over summer. We have had positive experiences with our V15 vacuum so we thought this product would also meet our needs. This product works well to warm the air but that’s about it. Cool is the key word in the product name, all this is a Bladeless fan that pushes around hot air like a fan you can buy from Kmart for 80 dollars. I am not sure how Dyson have determined the retail price of this product. A air purifier, a Bladeless fan and a heater whilst being seperate purchases would cost you about 300-400 dollars. What is the other 1000 dollars going on? It’s a beautifully designed machine no doubt, as Dyson products very often are but when a heat pump installed costs you 1400 and that’s genuine cooling, heating and air purifying there is no need for this product.
[Rewarded Review] Another excellent product by the Dyson Company
It is an excellent piece of equipment in every sense. Its advanced formaldehyde detection and removal feature make this great heater and cooler even a better product. Its fans are responsive and not noisy. Its heater is excellent with great ease at setting, and the unit continuously monitors your temperature for you to keep your room at the desired temperature. It also provides excellent filtration of micron-sized particles with its filtration system, rendering your room that much less dusty. All in all, this unit is well worth the cost. It's efficient, highly effective and carries the quality Dyson family logo.
Can’t even use heater/ no remote including
Such a disappointment! I have so many dyson iteams and this level of service is unbelievable! I ordered heater in december and it came without remote, I tried calling customer service for days and eventually online chat was available and guy told me that remote is out of stock and promised that he would ship it in 3 weeks. It’s February now and I haven’t heard anything from them. Chat is still not available. Mind you there is no way to use heater without remote and I paid over $600 for this garbage which I can’t even use! I have so many Dyson products and this is just unbelievable and unacceptable! I believe they send me someone else returned item and that’s why it was missing whole package with instructions and remote and purifier have scratches as well!
Another Great Dyson Product.
This excellent air cleaner is highly functional; and warms or cools air without effort. I always have high expectations for any product with the DYSON name. I rave about my DYSON wireless vacuum, and DYSON hair dryer, and now, will highly recommend this air cleaner. DYSON products are in a league of their own, with cutting-edge technology that tends to set the standard once it hits the market. Fan since my first ball vacuum eons ago. I appreciate the engineering developments of Dyson over time.
So far so good
I have a gas furnace here in CA and PG&E provides gas. Unfortunately, the cost per therm rate in winter is beyond redidulous at approximately $3.00/therm out the door. After last winter, the first spent in this house, I was looking for another way to heat my house and cut the cost. A friend had a Dyson purifier hot+cold and I was surprised and impressed how well it heated a room without issue. I bought an HP09 and HP07 through Dyson hoping I could achieve the same results. I use these 2 units to heat 1,325 sf. in an open floor planned house. I can run both (or just one) at fan setting of 4 and heat setting of 74 and maintain inside temperature (during waking hours) of 73 degrees even if at low 40's high 30's outside (typical of temperatures in my area in the evening during the winter). I have been able to keep my gas rate at less than $100.00/mo. (33 therms/mo., which translates to heating at 71 degrees for 1.5 hours in the morning and then shut it off the rest of the day) and heat the house with the Dysons at an increase of only $50.00-$60.00 more a month on my electrical bill (I pay .1194 per kWh which is a fixed rate). This has been a game changer. Last year during winter, gas monthly cost was $200.00/mo. and that was keeping the temp at 64 degrees during the day, 62 degrees at night and only 3.5 hours at 68 degrees (1.5 hrs. waking up and 2 hours before sleeping). I can't even imagine how expensive it would have been each month to keep the temperature at low 70's during the day just using gas, thus wanted another way to heat my house. So far so good.
DYSON SAVED US FROM FREEZING IN CLEVELAND!
This is the finest portable heater on the market. After purchasing a luxury condominium in Cleveland Ohio, we found that the central heating system failed to properly heat the lower downstairs primary living area. After realizing that our entire unit would need to be torn apart to facilitate a properly engineered HVAC system, We ordered the Dyson that proved to be a life savior as we no longer need our down jackets on while serving dinner. Also, we own a few cats. and must testify that the filter system really provides an added bonus in removing airborne particulate mater extremely well. No wonder why the former Queen of England owned a few! This is perhaps the best life changing investment purchase I've ever made as we are well able to survive Winters in Cleveland. Cheers to best company, making the best products with EXCELLENT customer service!
Quiet & App pairs fairly well. Overpriced & smelly
Works as written. Quiet and pretty good out of the box experience. There's a few streamlining things I would have expected for the price though. I think, if you're reading this, you already know what works about the product as outlined by the company write-ups, so I'll just focus on the issues (which is not to bias you towards the negative).
Waste of money for most people
Unless you live in the middle of Beijing or New Delhi you are not going to need this or even any air purifier for that matter.
Excellent and useful machine
This was a considered purchase.
Monitors and cleans the air automatically
Is this crazy expensive? Yes. But with wildfire smoke infiltrating our home, we didn’t have much choice and made the investment in this unit. We have been pleasantly surprised with the ease of use, and just how well and quickly it cleaned the air in our entire basement (900 sq feet) within hours and would continue doing so as needed- and automatically.
[Rewarded Review] Screeching Purifier - Dyson Never Helped Me
Terrible waste of money! I purchased this VERY expensive Dyson purifier and within a couple of weeks it started making this loud, piercing/whistling/screeching noise. Lo and behold, there were several people complaining about this issue online, so it was a very well-known problem when I purchased it. Why then was it left on the shelves for suckers like me to purchase?! I immediately contacted Dyson and was told that the purifier was on back order and they would send me a replacement. I spent several months thereafter waiting and trying to get my replacement, repeatedly calling Dyson for help and received nothing but deception and insincere promises that my issue would be resolved. It never was. I never heard back from Dyson. No follow-ups. Nothing. I can only run this horrible fan for 10 minutes at most before the screeching and whistling starts. Save your money and go with a different brand. I have 3 Dyson vacuums and a humidifier, they all work great. What happened here? How could Dyson have failed this bad both on product quality and customer support? Never buying another Dyson product again if this is how they treat loyal customers.
Not Better
Here’s my summation if you don’t have time to read my detailed report below: product does not work as advertised. My house has 7 people in it and as you may know, the more people in a space, the more activity and therefore, the worse the air quality. So, it is important to me to find something that actually works, which is why I did all that I did below. I read most of the reviews to try and make an informed decision prior to purchasing. Many said the heating system didn’t work but I found that it worked fine- maybe because I was using it in a smaller room than most people were (it’s a room measuring 389 cm x 293 cm roughly). The cooling system, however, is as the other reviews say- it did not cool much at all- even my average size room. I’m really disappointed. I always thought that the Dyson name meant something- that it was synonymous with quality but I was wrong. I see it in doctor’s offices and was always comforted with the thought that if those brilliant health-conscious minds thought it was useful then surely it must work- WRONG. I wonder how many of them conducted these tests that I did. Probably none or else they would know what I now know- that it doesn’t work. Will return the product and get my money back. Definitely not money well spent. I cannot say that it makes the air quality worse but I can definitively say that it does not make the air quality better. Look elsewhere- as I am now having to do.
Great device
I bought my HP09 after doing a major renovation in my house. New engineered timber flooring and new kitchen cabinets had caused major health issues due to high formaldehyde HCHO levels. To make matters worse the use of split system air conditioners and / or gas ducted heating lead to higher HCHO levels due to higher temperatures and air movement over the flooring. Not an ideal situation going into winter.
Dyson Dalek
This little guy reminds me of a Davros the Dalek from Doctor Who. "Exterminate" ...Exterminating air pollution, dust, allergens, gases, odours, and formaldehyde. People that have said in previous reviews that the Dyson HP09 is 'just an overpriced fan that can heat' have missed the point. You don't buy a Dyson HP09 because it looks nice and compact that can heat and cool, and it that price it had better make me cups of tea and bring them to me. (Although this could be a good feature for Dyson to look at in the future) You buy a Dyson HP09 for everything it does that you can't see. Have you been through all the settings that this little Dyson Dalek can do? Have you checked the setting where Dyson have done a really good job of trying to make the the things this Dyson HP09 can do that you can't see as visual as possible? Did you do your homework beforehand and check the size of the room the Dyson HP09 will heat?
[Rewarded Review] Went from HP02 to this. Big improvement.
I am satisfied with Dyson and love all the technology they put out. Their devices are great and I liked my HP02 but wanted more filtration and the features of this HP09. The HP09 actively monitors the air and reports the contaminants that are being detected. I was going to check if I had formaldehyde and return this if it didn't find any for the HP07. The HP09 found formaldehyde and keeps detecting and destroying it every day. The most common thing detected is VOCs or volatile organic compounds like cleaning products or gases like canned air. Some things I wish would be better are the Alexa Dyson skill not being compatible with this model, and explaining more about what the different substances detected are and how they can affect health. The heat can also only be controlled by remote because of regulations, so a lost remote means no heat.
