I have had my American Standard soft close toilet seat for a couple of weeks and I really like it so far. My old toilet seat broke and was not soft close so I shopped a couple of stores before making my decision. The American Standard brand at Home Depot stood out because it had a couple of rubber plastic pieces underneath the toilet lid. Since my old toilet seat used to rock a little side to side I hope this one will stay in place better. It looks great on the toilet and the soft close really works well, love it!

When I got it home and installed the toilet seat it became apparent that this seat was a step down in quality from the last American standard toilet seat I purchased. It appears flimsy and provides no slip protection as the feet are very thin. I will be replacing with a safer higher quality seat soon.

These plastic toilet seats are not built to last. This is my 2nd replacement seat and I only weigh 127 lbs. I recommend buying a wood replacement seat. More expensive up front cost but will be worth it in the long run.

Really nice great quality toilet seat. We trust the American Standard brand and were not disappointed. Love the slow close lid. Ease of installation. Delivery was FAST.

FLIMSY! BROKE IN 2 MONTHS

A flimsy design that could possibly pass if they only provided better bolts to attach the toilet seat. Plastic screws are usually OK but they have to be much thicker than the metal screws. They provided plastic screws that were so thin within a month of use broke and required replacements.. NO REASON FOR THIS! I’M PURCHASING REPLACEMENT BOLTS OTHERWISE THIS WOULD JUST GO INTO THE LANDFILL.

No Mounting Hardware

There were no bolts to attach the lid to the toilet. I had to use the bolts from the old lid. Those bolts (plastic) had barbs attached that I had to remove with a dremel so they would fit through the holes in the new lid. Note that box states that mounting bolts are included. It did not appear that the box had been opened prior to my purchase. Although this product is usable, I wish that I had purchased a more substantial one.

I honestly thought it would be better quality for the price. It’s really cheap plastic. Please bring back the “Church” brand of the elongated seat. It is the best. So sad I could not get another one. They lasted 4 years before I had to replace them.

looked ok on the store display, but total garbage to sit on

I seriously regret buying these. I replace all 3 of our seats at once and absolutely regret doing so. I essentially threw away $100 for the worst toilet seats ever. My hopes were that the plastic would be be easier to keep clean and last longer, but these things are so flimsy it's not worth it at all. Do not buy these.

Ordered this online. It did not come in on the date it was supposed to. When it did arrive, the tank had a huge crack in it, which rendered it unusable. I returned the product. Since a new one was going to take up to 2 weeks, I sourced a new toilet at a smaller company

Disappointed with American Standard

Purchased this American Standard toilet seat to accompany my American Standard toilet. Made sense. However, while the toilet seat fits the toilet well, it constantly shifts from side to side despite the screws being as tight as they can be. Every few days I have to readjust the seat. The problem is there are no rubber bumpers on the underside of the seat. With my previous toilet seats, two rubber bumpers were included to prevent shifting. Unfortunately, I will need to replace this new seat.

This was such an easy installation. I am a homeowner who has not installed a toilet in about 20 years. Everything I needed was in the box for this 2 piece toilet, and I needed very few tools of my own. I was amazed how the base tightened down over the wax ring with plastic wing nuts. Then the decorative caps fit snuggly over those wing nuts

Slow close seat wears out and no way to repair

American standard offers a paltry 1yr warranty on this product which is woefully insufficient - they are unwilling to stand behind their product in good faith. How often should someone replace their seat? Prior to being hoodwinked by Am Standard, it wasn't even a question a decade would be reasonable. Enjoy replacing your Am Standard seats every 2-3 years for ~$50/seat when the mfr refuses to be accountable and stand behind their design flaws. Queue the hollow patronizing support bot response!

Bought 3 of these seats for my house and absolutely love them. Soft close was a must, as I have a 15 year old who seems physically incapable of not slamming the toilet seat when he uses the bathroom at night, often waking me up. These seats close pretty slowly on their own but can be gently pushed down to speed the process up. Install was a breeze, takes a few minutes per seat. Would absolutely buy these again if needed.

Most comfortable, and I’ve used a lot of them.

Upon first look, this toilet seat looks like every other seat, but American Standard’s Cadet elongated toilet seat is proof as to why they are the the best brand time and time again. With it slow close lid and Everclean technology, you know that you’re getting quality. Upon first sit, I noticed immediately that this toilet seat is one of the most comfortable ones I’ve used (and I’ve used a lot of them!). 10/10, would poop again!

Terrible mounting hardware. Plastic screws can not be tightened enough to hold the seat securely. Tried several times to tighten the screws but eventually the Philips style head stripped out. Used my old Kohler mounting screws (steel) and Kohler bottom alignment nut, along with adding washers and the seat secured securely to the toilet base. Seat and top are great, just poor mounting hardware.

This is not a solid seat

I bought this to replace the original seat on my American Standard toilet expecting the same quality. This seat is molded plastic and hollow underneath, which allows it to flex. I weigh 120 lbs and notice it. I have also had o tighten the bolts after only one week of moderate use. The seat was on display in the store, but at the top of the display out of reach so I didn't get to check it before I bought it. Now I am stuck with a really "crappy" toilet seat.

I am returning them to the store today. I ended up ordering new Toto seats because these American Standard seats are made way too thin. When you sit on it the thing flexes and cracks. They are also the wrong white for our toilets. We have Cotton white and this are off white. So performance was the main reason for the return. They are just made very poorly and are low quality. They might be ok for children but not for adults.

I Love The American Standard Slow Closing Seat

I always purchased and used the No Slam Toilet Seat. Due to my arthritis and stiffness in my hip flaring up as a Senior Citizen, I requested an ADA complaint toilet from my property management. The ADA complaint toilet was installed and I went to Home Depot last night and purchased the Cadet Slow Close Elongated Closed Front Toilet Seat. I love this toilet seat and it sits comfortably for me as a man weighing 180 pounds and 6 feet tall. This toilet seat is very easy to clean.

Moves when used

I can tell this will meet my goal of a non-stain toilet seat. This is very easy to clean and appears it will not stain because of its fabric. My previous wooden seat was stained within its first year, just from skin moisture.
