Just spend the money! Well worth it. Drains perfect. Perfect finish
Quality costs money. Amazing product. Template for counter top layout was perfect.
Great look but scratches easily
We have had this sink for less than a year and the entire bottom is already covered in scratches. Seems like the enamel is very thin and fragile. Hoping to find a way to repair. Definitely get some sort of mat.
Best sink out there
Absolutely stunning! Love all the extra features on the sink that I didn’t think I would use but I love it. I know cast iron is heavy but it’s so worth it to buy the real deal! It’s going to last me forever and stand the test of time
Kohler Sink
I have always had homes with stainless steel split sinks that made it difficult to wash large items and on my remodel I decided to have the one large porcelain sink. So glad on my decision. The sink looks great in my new kitchen and I can always use a smaller plastic tub to hand wash a few items. The porcelain sink is easy to clean and looks better than a stainless sink. It is pricey compared to stainless but offers a classic look.
Sea salt cast iron sink single bowl
This sink is beautiful. I love the glossy finish. I have a rubber mat on the bottom of it at all times because I read about cast iron sinks and they kind of need to be babied a bit. But it is worth it. I got the sea salt finish.
Nice sink if installed properly
This is a great sink if installed correctly. However my interior designer, her general contractor and countertop fabricator failed to look at the details. Initially, They said that there was no template for the sink. I find it hard to believe that a multi billion dollar company like kohler would not provide a template for installation. Then they said there were four options on a template for the sink. Upon further review, We are unable to modify the countertop and I am not able to use the accessories. I am disappointed because I was Looking forward to using this sink exactly as it was intended for, as a workstation sink. I paid an upcharge for nothing. The sink is well made and gorgeous just make sure you micromanage the install no matter how many “professionals” you have hired to do the job for you.
Four years like new
Wow! I love this sink. Plenty of room for multi uses while cooking and love how deep it is for my large bowls and pans. I like the accessories it comes with too. The bottom grate really helps to keep pans from marking the porcelain. I also like the covered caddy to hide my sponges and scrubbers.Over four years of use and she looks like new!
Love the size, but accessories are a downfall
This is a lovely big sink. However, the accessories that come with it are too small, so I am befuddled as to how to dry things without them getting wet right away. I reverted to using an over the counter silicon dryer but it doesn't quite fit with the soap dispenser and it slips as well. If I could figure out a good way to manage my washed dishes, I'd raise the star level to 4. Also, I drilled holes in the 'washing cup' because it was constantly a pool of yucky water, makes more sense to have that as a drying cup for utensils, but with water gathering at the bottom, it turned gross.
Sink, wow!
Love our new Kohler Danby workstation sinks! Wanted to consider a larger apron front sink but was encouraged not to. Happily found this as an alternative and so glad I did! Sink is solid cast iron, exceptionally roomy and deep and all the provided sit in accessories are extremely useful! I would highly recommend this one and in fact, a couple of individuals on my contracting team were going out to get one themselves after installing it!
Defintely not worth the money!
I'm really disappointed with this Kohler sink. I purchased it to replace a 20 yr..Kohler cast sink. The new sink is part of my recent kitchen remodel. The sink shows every smudge and it scratches and stains easily. I'm using Kohler cast iron cleaner and have to spend a lot of time and effort trying to keep it looking clean. This is obviously a case of a product not improving over time. I will be contacting the company.
If I could give 0 stars I would...
We installed this sink less than 2 months ago, and last week the porcelain cracked at top edge by the faucet and has proceeded to de-laminate a 6 inch x 1 inch patch. Clearly there was some sort of crack that water got into and has now rusted behind the porcelain and is causing it to pop off. As an undermount sink, we now have to deal with trying to replace it without damaging our countertops. DO NOT BUY ANY KOHLER CAST IRON products. My prior Kohler sink I had for 30 years and no issues whatsoever. Unfortunately I did not do the research on recent Kohler products as I would have found this is an ongoing issue.
Sea Salt is Gorgeous!
After picking out Taj Mahal quartzite, I stressed over what color sink to install in our new island. White was too bright, Biscuit was too warm, Gray was too dark, Dune was too something in between. Sea Salt with its crystalline enamel picked up a bit of the gray from the quartzite, but also the classic white without being too white. Really hard to describe Sea Salt unless you see it in person. It really does look like someone embedded salt crystals into the enamel.
Extremely Poor Finish on a Great Sink
Sink installed 3 years ago with low volume usage, protective racks always in place, and no abrasive cleaners used. After 3 years of light use, the bottom of the sink's finish has worn away. Love the sink otherwise but 3 years and the finish is gone, really? My parents sink is 50 years old and is perfect. Another example of manufacturers constant focus of taking costs out of products, and ultimately producing crap products.
Nice sink.. missing all accessories
The sink is very nice. Heavy and solid. Their delivery through the carrier used was terrible. Dropped off at the end of my long drive way and I live alone. It weighs over 100 lbs. There was well over 2000 dollars worth of merchandise left at the end of my driveway. AND all the accessories for this Riverby sink were missing. I need someone to contact me about the missing items as soon as possible.
Perfect Sink
I love this sink. I wanted a sink that drained well as I have had a few modern (boxy) stainless sinks that didn't and the pooling water bothered me. Not an issue with this sink. It is sloped to the drain and works perfectly. Love the white and all the accessories included in the price. I ordered the suggested cleaner and it works great for removing surface dirt and what I thought were stains. It has a really nice, smooth finish. I would definitely buy this sink again.
Very Fragile Finish
We have lived in our new kitchen only two months and our Riverby already has two chips on the side that did not come with a bottom rack! One chip is from when I accidentally knocked a bottle off of the counter into the sink and it created a large chip. The second chip is a mystery as we have been avoiding putting anything but food for the garbage disposal on that side knowing it is so fragile. Now I have twenty years to look at these two chips and worry about more. I wish I had gone with stainless steel! We are very particular and careful and live very cleanly. This is so dissapointing! It says that it is chip resistant. Don't believe it!
hard to clean
The sink looked great upon install. Trying to keep it clean is an exercise in futility. Any food or liquid placed in the sink leaves stubborn stains. Not just coffee or tea, but orange juice, spinach, berries - you name it. Despite following Kohler's recommendations for cleaning (no abrasives or bleach) and using the strainer it seems the finish has worn off almost immediately after install. I ordered this because I was looking for long term durability but unfortunately will end up replacing after just over a year of use.
Seems like Good Quality, Terrible Packaging and Template
I purchased this sink through Lowes because shipping was supposed to be faster. Still took 3 weeks to deliver. The vendor was delayed shipping it out (Kohler?). Lckily the sink arrived undamaged. Shocked because there were only some styrofoam pieces in the corners of the sink. The accessories were all loose in the bottom of the sink. Terrible packaging! Also very disappointed Kohler only includes a folded up paper template with the sink. And both over and undermount outlines are on this same template sheet. Kraus includes stiff paperboard templates with their sinks. For the price I would think Kohler could afford to upgrade their templates. Very nervous about the granite installing cutting stone correctly based on this. Over spray coating on the bottom of the sink is messy. Doesn't affect anything, just speaks to overall workmanship. Hoping no issues with install. Confidence is shaken based on first impressions when I opened the box.
[Rewarded Review] ROOMY, PERFECT FOR CLEANING NEEDS, DURABLE FINISH
I've had my Kohler Riverby for seven months and am highly satisfied with its spaciousness, accessibility for cleaning large sized jobs and appreciate all the handy accessories that come with the sink. I've washed very large capacity pots and pans, sizeable rug cleaner parts, special holiday dishware, an 8-quart crock pot, and grills from my cooktop. Pair it with a high arc, pull-down faucet and you've got yourself a perfect combo. Because the cast iron is heavy and I had a new granite countertop, I had my cabinetmaker reinforce the under mounting with thicker support. I really like the gentle slope of the sink to the drain hole which encourages a smooth flow. The strong metal rack that comes with the sink protects its bottom and is super handy when handling hot pots and pans that come directly from the stove. Many may think this item is pricey, but it is well worth the extra cost for someone who loves to cook and like me, disliked double sinks which hindered cleaning larger items. Also, the surface finish on this Kohler sink is very durable. I have banged sink sides with pots and pans and no chipping has occurred. The finish after cleaning with Comet for messy jobs or just dish soap leaves the sink pristine. I ordered the white finish and love how it sparkles after cleaning.
Expensive sink, but worth it
The single bowl was a must for me after 15 years of a double bowl I could not comfortably wash a pot, etc. in. My minor con up front is the sink could be a tad wider. It is 1/2 inch less than my old stainless steel. With the new larger faucet it sometimes feels like it's too close to me, but that was expected from the measurements I had taken before ordering. I compensate by swiveling the faucet slightly as needed. The undermount installation has a slight reveal on all four sides, which I did not want, however, it is required by Kohler and is used to hold the attachments. It actually looks nice and has not been an issue with crumbs or keeping clean. I had not expected to use the attachments, but am finding they are VERY handy. I keep the colander on one side and the utility rack on the opposite leaving the middle open, and I can easily remove either for more space. The utility rack is perfect for holding a stirring spoon or cup for some brief drying time when you don't want these items on the counter or at the bottom of the sink. The colander is light and conveniently available for washing small items, and holding or draining items temporarily. The basin rack is not the full size of the sink and fits perfectly between the two attachments which makes it easy to move left or right, or to lift up for rinsing and cleaning underneath. The bottom rack also eliminates any concerns about scratching the bottom of the sink with heavy items. The side drain also coordinates with the bottom rack so that the drain is accessible without having to remove the rack. The cast iron sink is expensive, but we are enjoying the upgrade now, and know it will be a selling point in the future due to its size, sturdiness and being a timeless and tested quality product.
