better than others

I bought several similar onion choppers but they all broke because of the force you have to use. I've had the Oxo over 5 years now and it doesn't break. Plus it's the only kind that comes with a removable liner for the chopping squares, so you pull any little pieces right out and don't have to go in the grooves with a brush. You still have to clean the metal cutting blade array. Now, if they could come up with a way to remove the onion skin!

Great chopper

This small chopper was perfect. And it had the Little container underneath that catches your vegetables or fruits or whatever you’re chopping and then in the back it has an opening you can empty it out with. Or it’s easy to take the top off and empty it. I didn’t need one of those great big ones with different kind of grates. I have chopped onions, apples, celery And just getting started on what I can use it with. It’s easy to keep clean and it does well in the dishwasher. I highly recommend!

I was so excited to receive this item. It looks amazing and seems really easy to use. I really was not happy with its performance. It made the cuts really big. I was hoping for more smaller size pieces. I will continue to use it. Just sucks that I had to go back and cut all my onions by hand because the pieces were too big for what I needed.

Good cutting tool for fresh fruit.

It a very good product, the cons about it is that the grid is a little bit big. Also I have noticed that tomatoes can't be cut, they get stuck in the grid. It's so good for cutting fresh fruit like apples and pineapple, onions, bell peppers. Different cutting grid sizes will be a great option.

Disappointed

First thing I tried to do was chop some celery. I sliced it into thin strips an d placed it on the blades. I had trouble pressing hard enough to cut the celery and had to repeat the pressure several times before the blades cut through. Even then when I opened the chopper some of the celery was still unchoped and stringy. I emptied out the container. Some of the celery was stuck in the area of the knives. I tried reverse flushing with water. Still some pieces left and I received a minor cut from the “sharp” blades. I haven’t even tried to dice anything since that experience.

Solid and work as it should. Only wish is if you could have smaller or larger blades that can be switched out. If you need a well built %26 easy to use chopping gadget this is the one you want. I recommend you buy this and you’ll like it. Also dishwasher safe for easy clean up.

GREAT REPLACEMENT

I received the Vegetable Chopper w/easy pour opening as a replacement for the OXO Chopper. This tool is far easier and chops onions and peppers quickly and with less noise and effort than the Chopper. It is easier to clean as well. A great buy for those who want an easier chopping tool.

Wouldn't be without one

I bought my first similar one some 35 years ago... in all this time this is the second one. I love how easy it is to grasp and apply pressure.how easily it cuts through the food. Easy to clean, nothing really can go wrong. No sharpening needed, does in dishwasher and holds a good amount. Just a tip, if you don't work it out for yourself, it's best to 1/4 onions especially if they are big.... Needs less pressure

Perfect for 3 weeks then it broke

This device was almost perfect. It was simple, no accessories to store and just did what I wanted it for. We were so happy together. It was kind of hard to get the base off for cleaning. Then after 3 weeks it broke. One of the cutting grid pieces came loose and won’t go back where it belongs. I am so sad. We had some great chopping sessions together. It was just too good to last.

Be careful what you chop!

Bought on Amazon. The first time I used my chopper was on sweet potatoes. Big mistake. I bent & broke out one of the blades. The description for the chopper just says "vegetables", so I didn't think anything of it. I called Oxo customer service & they promptly replaced my chopper free of charge & also advised me that it's not intended for sweet potatoes or even potatoes. A lesson learned. The unit is high quality & lives up to expectations, if you use it on the right vegetables. Oxo customer service is top notch & they stand behind their products. I'm very happy with my chopper & I give it five stars. I think the description on Amazon needs to be changed to exclude certain vegetables.

Amazing

I got really in to making chopped salads / sub in a tubs. I kept seeing these choppers being used online and decided to take the plunge. I'm so glad I did. It makes it so easy and hassle free. You can even use the little bowl at the end to eat out of. OXO is a great brand too. I have a loft of their products and they never let me down!

Handy kitchen gadget

I put off from buying one as I have a set of knifes and an over active millennial mind, envisioning my ancestors calling me, an abled bodied human, ‘lazy’ for slicing my peppers into chunks before smashing them into squares. However I have zero regrets. Saves time. Pop it in the dishwasher when done.

Easy veg prep

Used this as soon as it arrived to chop a large onion to make a paella. Yes, the pieces were larger than if I’d chopped by hand, but there were no tears and it was so quick. I’m hoping to increase the amount of fruit and veg we eat as a family by using this to make quick chopped salads for lunches and mid-week dinners. It will easily fit in a drawer or cupboard, it’s about 20cm long, but I envisage using it daily. It’s very easy to clean but can be put on the top rack of the dishwasher. Good price compared to other online retailers.

[Rewarded Review] Love everything except the dispenser hole

I am not good at chopping and dicing vegetables, so I wanted to try this out. It has been amazing! It makes quick work of onions, tomatoes, carrots, you name it! The only thing I am not a fan of is the dispenser hole. I have a hard time keeping the chopped vegetables in the container due to my tremors. But I could see how normal people would find it incredibly useful. It's also easy to take apart and clean, which is a must for me.

This chopper is amazing! It makes cutting prep time seem like such a breeze! It isn’t time consuming or is super easy to use. I really enjoy it because I have carpal tunnel, so cutting up things hurts after a short time. Not having to grip a knife seriously makes all the difference! I don’t see myself being able to use anything else ever again. A great addition to any kitchen!

Good for cubing

I need my veg cut into cubes for my cooking, rather than being chopped, so this gadget is an excellent tool for that. The caveat is that it does not work on semi-soft, pliable vegetables like brinjal, but is great for bottle gourd, ivy gourd and even bhindi. One surprise was that when I tried cubing a whole potato, instead of cubes I got long fingers. Which I might want sometimes, so that's ok.

Indispensable

So much so that I am about to order my fourth one. Unfortunately, they keep breaking. I am a huge fan of OXO because of the product lines sensitivity to ergonomics. It is rare that I have a problem with OXO products but this item is nearly impossible to release cutting lid from food container if you have weak hands, like me, and ultimately ends up cracking. A big chunk of plastic broke off my last one and I had to discard. I made a request under warranty but never had a response. Husband wants another one as we both use it constantly so I am ordering again. Great product but a frustrating design issue.

Excellent workhorse for your kitchen

This chopper is a little workhorse. It is a simple design without complicated additional parts. It is very sturdy in build. If all you want is something that will chop your veggies this is for you. It has cut down my prep time at least by half. So far I have used carrots, celery, mushrooms, potatoes, peppers and onions. Most sites recommend not doing sweet potatoes, but they did fine on this chopper. I just used thinner slices. It is very easy to clean. Highly recommend.

I bought this item at the weekend n having read the negative reviews would like to say By reading the product description before purchase I was fully aware it was for softer vegetables . Basic reading skill . Also the comments it is difficult to clean !! I remember Grandma waging clothing on the farm in a tub then using a mangle so if you think running this under a hot tap or put in dishwasher is hard we truelly are in a Nanny state go back to her days n tell me what hard work was . Easily breaks when chopping large carrots!

I have got through two of these so far. On both occasions while cubing carrots and cabbage to make cabbage soup, the centre blades just gave in. The time time I forgave it, because apart from the fact it isn't strong enough to do the job, it does the job quite well. However, I will now be contacting customer services. When the blades do give, they are very thin and flimsy and it soon becomes obvious why these machines can't really deal with large pieces of carrot or cabbage. I am not sure when it went first time, but second time it seemed to be on the carrots. I suppose I could make my pieces even smaller, although I already had, so I was surprised. So it works quite well if you are cutting lots of soft things or you pre-cut tougher things. It is a shame they don't just use tougher blades.
