Horrible Quality
We have had these switches in our kitchen for a last couple years and have already had them replaced twice and will now have to for a third time with a different brand as these suck. They crack and this last one just fell out of the wall. Ridiculous.
Probably Fine Switch, Hate the Raised Lettering
The raised "Leviton" branding is a huge turn-off. Lutron has branding on their switches too, but it's recessed instead of raised so you don't feel it every time you turn the light off. My clients hate the feel and so I've had to swap out all the switches I've installed with Eaton, which probably have poorer quality. For all the extra work I've had to do so Leviton can write their name where nobody wants it, I've got a real negative view of this company.
Brand named added to switch. Decided to return.
I have boxes of old Leviton decorator switches but they've recently added the brand name to the bottom of the switch. With the decorator switches, you typically hit the very bottom of the switch and now you don't feel smoothness, you feel the roughness of the brand embossed into the plastic. Had to return them and get switches from another store.
The switch has RAISED lettering on it's face
The word "Leviton" is in raised lettering on the rocker switch itself. That's ridiculous. Who at Leviton thought buyers would think, "man, I wish every time I used my light switch that I could feel rough bumps that spelled out the name of the light switch brand, so I could never forget how stupid it was to buy this light switch".
No longer made like they used to, wont last
I've literally gone through 3 boxes in the past few years. Sure they're cheap, well-recognized brand, but they all fall apart, even from just sitting there. The plastic frame is brittle and eventually that cracks and gives way.
Great replacement switches, Made in the USA
I bought 3 packs of 10 switches, to replace the 16 yr old China switches that have been breaking apart at the pivot. I live in a doublewide home, and these switches where easy to replace. I do like the fact that the Leviton brand is embossed on the switch, makes it easy to identify the ones that have been replaced vs not replaced yet. I am also doing the decorative outlets as well, and going with Leviton. You can't go wrong, well priced and good quality.
Looks good and affordable!
Bought these to replace old switches. I like that they are cheap and affordable! Really hope the quality is good and it will last. I replaced 11 singles or so, hope they last and don't crack like the ones I replaced. They aren't as quiet as I was hoping but they will do. I like silent switches but not sure where to buy them. These are not silent when switched on and off in case you are wondering.
Logo ruins this switch.
You should avoid placing this in high traffic places, such as the kitchen. After so much use, you'll notice the build up of scum in the logo - the "o" is the hardest. You really have to soak it a bit to get clean. I don't know why they thought this was a great idea, it's not. If you can do buy a different brand that doesn't have a logo. I only used 2/10 before I set these aside. I will likely uninstall 2 I setup and replace them. Too late for a refund.
Branding added is the worst
The switches are good. We purchased more than 30 over the last two years as we were updating room by room in the house. Recently went to the store and discovered, after coming home, that there is raised lettering on the switch. It’s absolutely awful. You can’t use them with other ones without it as it makes it look even more tacky than it already is. This is such a shame as I like the brand and would like to use it through the rest of the house. Now we’re on to figure something else out.
Branding makes it look cheap!!!
Loved everything about the switches except the branding. Makes them look cheap!
These are easy to connect with the clamp-style under screws connections
Probably what I like most about these particular switches is the way they connect. There is a clamp under each screw that grips the wire without having to form a hook which can come loose during tightening. The back also has the insert holes for wire, but I seldom use it because there may be more than one wire going to each of the hot & neutral connections and anything larger than 18- or 20-gauge wire doesn't fit without a lot of effort. Additionally, you cannot connect stranded wire into the holes at the back successfully. Aside from the obvious more modern look, they work reliably and are silent in operation. They are also small in the back, so they fit into the J-box easily.
BUYER BEWARE
When you buy a 10-pack, make sure to open the box and inspect for quality and consistency. I purchased a box (that appeared unsealed), took it home and opened it to find out that they and all the same. they were also used. one switch even had wire in the back stab that someone had cut as if it had been installed already. whoever bought this returned it used and did a great job of giving it a "sealed" look. it fooled me because I'm ALWAYS checking products to make sure ALL THE PARTS are in there as they should be. Again, be careful aninsoect before you buy or else you'll be making another trip back to home depot just for $20 worth of material. Make sure you open and inspect.
Good Value & Well Made
I replaced all my remaining non-automated, toggle-style switches with these inexpensive rocker-style from Leviton. That includes single pole, 3-way and one 4-way. All feature the same side screws that permit hooked or straight wiring to the screws. The straight option is great when there are two wires going to one screw for any reason. I don't use push-type connections although they are available. I just don't think there is enough metal-to-metal contact for good conductance. All these switches make a slight click when operated but nothing offensive in my opinion. You save a great deal by not going for the ultra-silent switches. The only question I have in my mind is why the ground wire is at the top of the switch when the Leviton logo is on the bottom and the switch is properly oriented for on/off operation. Traditionally, that screw is at the bottom from past experience. It is merely a matter of curiosity on my part not that it makes any difference electrically. Leviton duplex outlets do have the ground screw on the bottom when the ground is facing down. I wonder if Leviton has the line-terminal-up & load-terminal-down practice with this orientation in mind. Would like to see a Leviton person comment.
Buy any other brand of paddle switch, even if it costs more
It turns out all of these switches have a permanent "Leviton" logo molded into the plastic at the front. Very ugly, with an uncomfortable texture. I was paying more for "Decora" style switches because they used to look better than a cheap switch, but the visible logo makes them look way cheaper than a normal switch. Installing these devalues my home, because I do not want to pay money to turn my house into an advertisement. Most stores only sell one brand of switches, and most people don't replace switches, so what exactly is that supposed to accomplish.. Other than to make my house look crappy and cheap. Also, the actuation of the switch feels worse and "cheaper" than other paddle switches I've used. I've installed a few from the pack to try them out regardless, but I regret it. The rest are going in the trash and the installed ones are comingout as soon as my order from a real brand sold by a competing retailer comes in. Home Depot needs to take pride in their business and stop stocking this brand.
Logo on the front
I purchased about 25 rocker style switches to swap out the toggles in my home. We have a number of smart switches and I decided to make the switches look more uniform throughout the home. I was also having a heard time finding wall plate configurations (4 gang) in a midway size after swapping out switches.
