I had electric heat. My bills are always 300 plus through the winter time. Already my house is warmer. Im waiting to see what my electricity bill is going to be. Much lower ine sure. My dad got this same pellet stove 2 years ago and loves it and he lives in a way colder climate. Im extremely happy with the pellet stove

Wiseway so far.

Been using the Wiseway pellet stove since January which sits in my basement and keeps my pipes from freezing. Saved a ton on my usual fuel/electric bill since not running a boiler unit. As for operation of the Wiseway pellet stove there is a learning curve which I worked through. Little frustrating at first but the stove is running exactly as I hoped now and heats three floors while also relieving another electric pellet stove on first floor. The wiseway is doing most of the heavy lifting! It does keep me a bit busy but I used to run a coal/wood burner hooked to same chimney. The more I run the Wiseway the better it gets as I'm still learning the stove.

Wiseway GW1949 rocks!

Like a lot of people looking at pellet stoves, my wife and I saw many mixed reviews of the Wiseway GW1949 pellet stove. Being a bit of a tinkerer, I felt confident that we could get this stove to work to our satisfaction and took the plunge. We found the stove on Ingram's Water and Air at a great price.

wise way pellet shove

ok so I did some research before buying my wiseway pellet stove from home depot. there were many good reveiws ans several that had bad things to say so it was a tough decision to purchase it. but after being frustrated with break down after breakdown with other competitively priced pellet stoves with all of the electronic crap and the fact that if the power should go out they are useless. so I decided I would give it a shot. I bought my stove and hooked it up to a stainless steel 6 inch chimney. I also installed a barometric damper and I am using premium hardwood pellets and it works great. it runs about 450 -500 on low and at half way its between 500 and 700. now the not so good part I do have to empty the ash pan about every 5 to six hours. and it holds 60 lbs of pellets but only 50 lbs or so actually go into the stove. also it does burn way more pellets than advertised. but all in all the simplicity of it is worth it to me. i also bought two fans that run off the heat of the stove so even if power is out I have great heat.

Does not work at all

We had such high hopes for this stove. But after two winters, speaking with US Stove (the current manufacturer) and changing how the flue and stovepipe were set up according to what US Stove told us, things started out ok. The pellets were moving through the stove and combusting properly, the stove was putting out alot of heat, but then it all went down hill, horribly. The stove started backing up and the house filled up with billows of smoke. The draft had just stopped and this was the result. This is what had been happening before too. We wanted this stove because it does not use electricity and we get power outages in our area. But it does not work right at all. So I guess it goes to the scrapper or somewhere and we are back to square one.

Wiseway pellet stove

Man I was so excited to get this stove. But, man is it difficult to operate. Once I got it going, it heated well. But the first night the pellets jammed and the entire house was filled with smoke. Nothing like waking up at 3:00 in the morning to alarms goi g off and having to open doors and windows with 8 degrees to clear out smoke. Then it’s really hard to restart when you still have pellets in the hopper. It did this three times. Just a very finicky stove to operate and I don’t wish this on anyone. If you are off grid and don’t have a wood stove this might be a great option. But if you don’t loose power much and want an easy stove to manage then stay away from this stove. I wasted $1500 bucks on a cool looking stove so don’t follow in my footsteps.

Frustrated beyond belief!!!!

We purchased this stove from Home Depot and had it professionally installed a few days later. The 1st night, it ran about 500 degrees, but by morning it had cooled to just 325 leaving our home at 42 degrees. I've searched everywhere to see what I could do to fix the issue. Forums didn't help and the email address for Wiseway didn't work either. Here it is Christmas and once again the stove has failed. We dismantled the stove yesterday and cleaned it thoroughly and relit it. It ran awesome for about 6 hours. We only run super premium pellets and a little over 10 feet of chimney. I am so ready to give the stove back!!!

Great stove for the money

Bought this bad we wanted a pellet stove we could “set and forget” without worry about power failures in the winter. The mixed bag of reviews in the web were confusing, but we rolled the dice and purchased from IWAE. Upon arrival, we set up in the yard and lit the stove. There was a ton of smoke on the first burn and we were able to spot some areas that needed tweaking. We also discovered that the instructions are both incredibly detailed and rather confusing (I almost docked a star just for the install guide - calls parts by various names, none of which are used in the diagrams, some steps are incomplete or assume you can read between the lines, and some steps have clearly been translated to English). After some adjustments, we kit it again and there was no more smoke. So we moved it inside and installed. We ran hardwood pellets to start, as they were readily available. They burned fine and produced a decent amount of ash. We then tried Douglas fir softwood as the manual directed. They burned consistently at the right temp. Enter the hard/soft wood blend and trouble begins. The pellets WILL NOT BURN and require as much fiddling and attention to burn as a wood stove. Even when blended with the pellets we love, we have to adjust the burn basket and leave the draft doors wide open to get it to run around 250 (versus the 500 we get with the softwood). We have this in the basement and it heats that area plus keeps our 1200sq ranch in the high 60’s throughout. We would definitely buy this again. Research what pellets are available near you (stay as far away from align Eric Green Supreme as you can...) and try a few bags before buying a pallet. YouTube has some helpful resource videos. Read the instructions. Don’t short-cut the ignition process. Keep the hopper more than 1/4 full for best performance.

Disappointed

I bought this stove due to power outages in the winter. It was hooked up last October and I have had nothing but problems. Within a month the primary burn chamber completely burnt out, literally looked melted away. Didn't know until after purchasing that soft wood pine pellets are recommended, but was told it would burn ANY pellets. IT WILL NOT BURN HARDWOOD PELLETS, which is all that is available in WV! They will catch on fire, and a few will burn; but the majority just smolders, causing massive amounts of smoke and filling up my home. I am allergic to wood smoke, so this was not good!! Have tried different brands of pellets, nothing will burn. This replaced an outdoor wood stove which I no longer have, I have been without heat since November!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS STOVE!!

Wiseman stove

I baught my stove last year.. I found out puting a non draft chimney top on was very important! Adding a damper is important too. These stoves kick off really great heat. I heat my whole house! No breakable parts! Love this! If installed properly.. No smoke comes in house. I am a girl and installed it by myself. Also not.. Make shure out side pipe is at leadt 10 feet above roof line! I am getting another one for my cabin! If your old like me.. I use a small soup pan to fill the back so i dont have to lift the heavy pellet bags! Home you enjoy yours as much as i do! Thank you to the man that invented this stove. I have finally found a great pellet stove! I live in north east Iowa. Trust me we get some cold weather cause the Canadian swath goes through here!

Minor quality issues with unit. Gaskets don't seal, gaps in pellet feed/stove box leaking smoke, mounting base bolt had thread damage. Some tinkering needed to help feed and burn effectively. If you like tinkering with ROCKET STOVES, you'll love this challenge. Requires some monitoring periodically to keep working well. Radiant heat would improve with air flow across unit. For now, will weld a shelf to side to set a peltier fan to improve distribution. If centrally located inside a home or cabin, this might work better. Cleaning unit between uses takes more time than conventional pellet stove. Creosote build up seems more prevalent than with other pellet stoves. Keep it above 400° and works better.

I haven’t had the stove very long, but Inhave been using it with different brands of pellets and adjusting the basket width. I have only had access to hardwood pellets. So far it’s working fairly good, except the basket seems to ash up after a while, even if the ash tray is not full. The fire then dies out. I have spread the grate basket, but have not been able to figure out how to solve this issue. I would recommend the heater, but some other people have complained about it. If you purchase this stove, it is important to experiment with different pellets and the grate openings.

I live in Pennsylvania, I have used this for about 1 month now, bought it new from the company that installed my new flu liner (5" 304 stainless) They said I had a great draft and it should run nicely. The stove was light enough for me too move into possission myself and hook up to the flu. Filling the hopper was a difficult for me because my distance from the back wall is only 6" and the hopper is not very wide, so you have to either scoop them in with a large cup or hold the bag up and slowly pour them in, while a bunch spill onto the floor. I was very excited when I first lit the stove and the temperature rose to 700 in about 20 minutes. I ran it all night (about 9 hours) on high while sleeping, When I checked it the next morning the temperature was at 300 and the room was not very warm, I Found that the ashes did not fall through the secondary burn chamber into the ash pan as it should have, when i pulled the secondary burn chamber out, large clumps of ash fell into the ash pan. The next two days that I used this the temperature would not rise as high as the day before, so after the third day I decided to clean it. Apon opening the glass door on the front I noticed a large amount of ashes were piled up in the first bend and the tube where the adjustable draft is. I believe this cut down on my draft. I couldnt get to the next two bends due to no access, so I took an air hose and blew them down the tubes(very messy) lots of ashes, im sure it was enough to stop my draft even more. I then repeated the same process for another three days with a different brand of pellets, same results. I added three ecofans to the stove, but it still isnt enough to help much. The only way I can keep this stove warm enough to heat my small basement to 70 degrees is to run it on high at all times, leave the burn chamber door off for more air flow, knock the ashes from the secondary burn chamber down about every 4 hours, and clean it every day. This means I am cleaning it and using 2 bags of pellets every day. If you have electricity, I would not buy this stove. I feel The only people this would satisfy are those with very small cabins that have no electricty. I have $1650 in the stove with taxes, and am very dissapointed. I would Send this stove back, but the restocking fee that i found on the internet is outragous.

This stove should not be sold in a area where softwood pellets are not readily available.

It serves a purpose

This is great for what it is, but you need to do some things to enhance the performance. Number one, get the larger size, and get at least a 4 inch pipe or larger, and it works best if you go straight up and out roof. Two, pellets matter, the only ones that work for us are Olympic Hard Wood Douglas Fir. Other brands of hard wood do work, but nothing as good as those pellets, this will keep the unit between 500 and 700+ all day and that is what it takes to warm the house nicely. When lighting the stove, you need to look at the bottom of the pellets and put the torch on the bottom, if you don't you will get smoke. Once running you can burn all day with no fumes, the only times you start to smell burning wood is when the unit is winding down. To clean, I simply take off pipe and put a blower on top of unit, make sure the bottom is taped and plastic up to blow out the window instead of inside the home. It took a while to learn all of these things, but once we did we love this thing. Clean it about every 10 to 15 bags of pellets, if you don't the unit will start burning at 350 degrees, and that is no good, you want this thing burning like 600 degrees.

yes

We bought this stove as a back up heater for a cool room on our old farmhouse. As we also burn wood and we thought we would try this stove. It runs about 12 to 15 hours on a 40lb bag of pellets. It seems to like soft wood pellets over hard wood. The stove does require some attention during use. Shaking down the secondary burner helps maintain heat around 500 to 550 degrees and needs a full cleaning about every 3 to 4 days to maintain proper operation. It seems to like to run about 8 hours before needing any cleaning but like I said it does require some watching. We have felt very safe with the stove and have had no real issues with it. I will tell you that it does like a nice draft. In fact we have had some small issues when the weather is very warm and you can feel the low atmospheric pressure dropping. So a full draft is needed at all times.

Great pellet stove

I've own this stove for two winters and it has done a wonderful job. It does require a cleaning of the burn chamber on a regular basis. I clean my out after every 60lbs.of pellet I burn. It takes ten minutes or less. I keep a mental pale bucket,a stainless steel bush. Empty the ash and secondary burn tray. Remove the burn chamber and basket. Bush clean. I keep an old vacuum cleaner with a hepa filter bag. Open the front glass door, wipe glass with damp paper towel. Vacuum ash from all open chambers. I keep a 20" extension on the hose. Vacuum straight thru the burn chamber and thru the passage of the air damper tunnel. Vacuum the ash from the opening of the glass door. My flue is 12ft. Straight thru the roof. Once a week. Seven days of burning, I open the glass door and insert a electric leaf blower upwards towards the flue. Stuff a rag around the end tip of the blower to seal. Turn it on for about two minutes. Blows out all the ash. If ash builds up in the flue, it will reduce the heating by half. Make sure the stove is cold and not burning when performing any cleaning.

Remarkable design - exactly what I wanted

I often lose power during ice storms so when I learned that pellet stoves with forced exhaust are dangerous to run when the power is out, I started looking for an alternative. I read every thing I could about this stove. It came with some issues: the exhaust is 3" but 3" pipe did not fit - I had to do some creative crimping to make it work; ash buildup chokes out the flame unless you find a way to knock it out of the primary burn basket - easy enough to handle I use a long metal file every few hours. Those are the drawbacks.
