Great addition to an HD Cover.Improves versatility

Bought to outfit my HD with a RTT. Prep work was the most crucial part, marking out and drilling the holes. My HD did not have the pre drilled markings. I found the best way was to find the centerline front to back, and measure out from there. After mounting with the provided hardware, I found leaks during a car wash. I upgraded the mounting hardware for the 4 tracks, and added a marine sealant when mounting under the tracks and inside the holes. No leaks any more. Also I replaced the finger nuts with nylon nuts. The provided nuts have a plastic cap to hand tighten, I wasn’t happy with tightening ability. Replaced this with nylon nuts and large washers from HD. The tracks are much more secure now.

Bomber racks

Love these. Super easy to assemble and put on my truck. Almost too easy. My double haul goes great on top. As a professional guide I need organization and this rack helps me get everything where it needs to be. The gear tie downs are excellent as well

Yakima OverHaul HD Truck Rack (Towers Only)

Love my new Yakima Overhaul HD truck rack! It is stout, and fits perfectly. I'm able to make adjustments to accomodate my various bike racks and kayak racks depending on what I am heading out to do. With this setup, my race kayaks, bikes, and SUP boards have all been nice & secure.

Great rack but be careful if you need parts

5 star review for the rack. Great build quality and extremely capable for multi sports. The downside is that I can't use it because I needed to switch from feet that work with the Retrax cover to conventiional bedside clamps. Paid $430 up front at my local Yak dealer for parts and just cancelled tonight after 2 plus months waiting.

Great Sturdy System - Installed with RetraxPro Tonneau Cover

Installation of the Yakima Overhaul HD System on my RetraxPro Tonneau Cover was easy using the (8) supplied T-Slot bolts (Ford F-150 Lariat 5.5 foot bed). I was able to purchase the Yakima HD Crossbars on Ebay (68”) - as nobody . The Overhaul+HD Crossbar system is ROCK-solid sturdy. I love having additional tie-down points for securing cargo. However the beefy HD Crossbars lack accessories - so I hope Yakima comes out with more products. As shown in the photo, you can tie down Kayaks pretty easily without additional accessories - although using the proper accessories is advisable for longer trips. For Kayaks, forget standard foam block kits and most other competing products, as the HD Crossbars have too large of a cross-section and parts don’t fit well, or at all. I purchased a set of kayak carrying cradles but had to buy longer length metric carriage bolts in order to install on the HD bars. I highly recommend this product - I’m sure I’ll have it for the life of my vehicle.

[Rewarded Review] Yakima Overhaul HD

Easy, straightforward install. I have a slight disagreement with other reviews that are negative on the rubberized feet for the Retrax install. I do not have any "squishing" or visible wrinkles in the interface. Sure, I would prefer that the original style of aluminum interface were modified to work with Retrax, but at the moment it looks and acts fine. I have not adjusted height after the fact but that will be one negative based on the original install - it will be time-consuming. I would guess 30-45 minutes minimum as 12 bolts have to be loosened and distances need to be fiddled with as the side supports are angled in, not straight up and down. Easy off and on though as long as you MARK THE ORIGINAL LOCATION of the feet on the Retrax rail.

Very happy with it on my 2019 F-150

Superior Yakima quality. Nice powder coat finish. It's rugged. The Allen bolts require a special tool (comes with Overhaul HD) to keep the thieves away from the crossbars. I love that the height is adjustable. Beware that if you want the lowest crossbar height setting on a 2019 F-150, the crossbar will block the top rear center break/bed light. The Overhaul HD "stanchions" seemed flimsy on the truck bedrail (if staring at the setup from the rear of the truck, would move side to side, not front to back) before the crossbars are installed. Don't let that dissuade you. Once the crossbars are installed, the setup is very solid. I've installed a SUP Dawg and Skybox combo and a Mega Warrior on it no problems. The large HD crossbar fits/looks best on a 2019 F-150 in my opinion. Went back and forth between L and XL crossbars. The L is almost the exact width of the truck. I went for that due to the trees in my driveway and the bikes and other gear mounted on the walls in my garage. The XL would give me problems with clearing obstacles in confined areas. I highly recommend this set up to free up bed space if you can find one!

Well worth the spend this rack is solid!

I bought this rack for one reason, as they sold a TONNEAU kit that works with my Retrax's which combined with the Overhaul HD kit. Wow, Yakima did not disappoint, it is Heavy Duty that is for sure, build for anything. My kayaks were the main reason for the purpose, but this thing will take a beating. The tools that Yakima provides are great, made for easy adjusting and assembly, which was impressive. I have bought other racks, and this by far is worth the money, I was impressed with this system. I will say shelling out $1,100 on a truck rack is a lot but in the long run, felt it was worth it. Only thing I did not like is the bars and rack system are separate, it would be nice if it was a kit. Availability of all the parts and the kit was terrible, waited 6 weeks, just not the best service. Yakima support let me know it was going to be delivered in September, but my distributor got it early, so I was happy, but waiting 6 weeks is not good. Bottom line, I am a new found Yakima customer, as this rack won me over, it's heavy-duty and well worth the spend. I Highly recommend this rack and tonneau kit.

Completing the Overhaul HD

This is a great rack. Holds lots of things. Probably a lot more could be added, but lacks information on t-slot nut or bolt sizes. Wanted to add lights to the back of the rack, but finding the correct mounting is missing from specification. Installation was easy, but had to add C-clamps to hold the mounts against the bed till final placement. Even after correctly torquing the bolts, had two plates that wanted to pull away from bed, creating a gap. Once, I have determined the location for life, will drill and mount additional bolts to secure the mounts to the bed securely. Unless you have a long bed truck (8ft) go with the short side bars. Moving the height after the installation of the crossbar is not easy and does require the removal of the crossbars. Once all of the mounts and bars are secure, the rack is rock solid! Mounting kayak mounts allowed the rack to be below the truck roof line. This is great so no additional drag is added in everyday driving.
