The BEST Pinot Glass

I went to a wine tasting in Anderson Valley around 2012 in what is now the Cerise vineyard, and the winemaker used the Zalto Burgundy glass for our tasting. Since that day, this is the ONLY glass I like to use for Pinot. The body of the glass is wide, which really helps elevate aromas. I also like using these for any lighter bodied red wine to enhance aromatics. I cannot recommend this glass enough.

Perfect eclipse wine glasses!

beautiful wine glasses. to look at... to hold... to drink out of. Not just for the eclipse, but everyday! I had to get used to the weight (very light), and the WAIT! (over a year) but its worth it. Thanks

I purchased four of the glasses for a wedding gift! The receiver loves them and uses them frequently.

Looks beautiful, incredibly light. Unfortunately, the stem is way too thin/delicate for the large top. Makes it feel like it’s going to break (I actually already broke one because it was so delicate).

Gorgeous but fragile!

I love them but at this price I don’t think I would buy again. One broke while I was washing it. And the stem is so slender that I’m worried when swirling

These Glasses Are a TREAT!

Absolutely gorgeous glasses. We first laid eyes on them in a darling restaurant in Austria and fell in love with them. They are a piece of art in your hands, which compliments any wine. Just to hold the delicate, thin stem between your fingers and swirl your wine is a lovely, decadent feeling. Careful, though. They break easily. No matter. Buy extras! They’re worth it.

Glass costs more than my pinot noir.

Perhaps overly large. Almost as thin as a soap bubble.

Beautiful ---like a frozen soap bubble.

Large capacity. I previously had a set of all-purpose Zalto. One died the first day,;the other has survived hundreds of dish washings, which gave me hope for the Burgundy glasses.

Zalto Denk Art Burgundy Wine Glass

These glasses are stunning, but scary as they are so fine and light. Keep expecting them to float out of the cupboard when I open it. They look beautiful and are the perfect size for a large glass of red…

Zalto Denk'Art Burgundy Glass

I purchased a set of four in February. The glasses are fine although no better than some Riedel models in terms of impacts on the nose/flavor profile in my opinion. One of the glasses had two small bubbles towards the base of the glass near the stem. I reached out twice by email to WineEnthusiast to see if they would replace that glass and they never responded. Only spend the money on this glass if you are prepared to tolerate small defects.

Most stunning wine glass I've ever used

I've purchased 6 Zalto glasses (3 Burgundy, 2 Bordeaux, and 1 Universal) and still have 5. The Burgundy glass is spectacular, and I was sick to have broken one while washing it. It seems by far the most delicate of all the Zalto glasses, perhaps because the bowl is huge. These glasses are, in fact, quite thin, which is part of the appeal. A big, clunky glass gets in the way of the wine itself. It sounds pretentious, but it's true. Aside from dropping the glass, I can't imagine how one would break it other than while washing it, and I've discovered that the secret to protecting it while washing is to hold it by the stem near the bowl, NOT near the foot. Because the glass is so thin, the bowl is the weakest part, and holding it near the foot under a steady stream of water (let alone filling the bowl with water) is an accident waiting to happen. If I hold it properly, I'm able to safely scrub the inside and outside of the glass with a brush, rinse it clean, and dry and polish it with a microfiber cloth. I absolutely believe these glasses are worth the price, but you cannot handle them the same way you handle your everyday Crate & Barrel glasses. They won't stand up to indiscriminate washing or indiscriminate guests.

A must for the complete wine experience!

Hubby is a little hard to buy for. But this was the perfect gift. He was actually surprised. He has been enjoying 2 other styles of the Zalto Denk'Art wine glasses, and I decided the burgundy glass would be a great addition. I thought maybe I over did it by ordering 6 of them! But not so! He was thrilled and our grown sons & others have enjoyed this luxury with us. We celebrated our 50th anniversary last weekend in Walla Walla, WA wine country and are now swirling those great purchases in these fine glasses!

A great glass that makes almost any wine great!

Why would any wine drinking Socialist - (that's a social person who enjoys sharing wine with friends and family) even think of drinking wine from a jelly jar! ?Enter Zalto. Zalto glasses compliment, enhance and enable, yes, enable wine to be enjoyed gracefully and especially tastefully - if you get my drift. Life is short, buy the Zalto glasses!

Beautiful Glasses

I love these glasses - they're beautiful, lightweight, and surprisingly durable. My husband and I drink a lot of pinot and have enjoyed using these glasses on a casual Thursday night or for dinner parties with friends. Looking forward to future special occasions for an excuse to purchase additional types of these glasses.

Do it!!!

Somehow I have started collecting glassware and I have glasses far more expensive and exotic than this. That being said, these are by far my favorite. I wish I had ordered these first and then I would have only these in the collection! They are a delight to hold and from which to embibe. Highly recommended!

Wow

These are amazing. I thought my Riedels were awesome until I had wine out of these. So thin. It really makes the wine so much more enjoyable. They're probably very susceptible to breaking, so I'm extra careful when cleaning. My Riedel Somm Gran Cru is now second place.

This is what perfection is

Beautiful Burgundy glass. I first learned about it from a Wall Street Journal article where it earned . I was skeptical until I actually tried it. I don't think there is a better Burgundy glass out there unless you spend hundreds on a Baccarat crystal. Not sure Baccarat glass will improve your wine drinking experience though. Zalto glasses will. They are exquisite. The only downside is the fragility of this wine glass. Very, very fragile.

Zalto Burgundy vs Riedel Sommeliers Burgundy glass

There is a lot of hype when it comes to the Zalto wine glasses. The question becomes does it live up to its hype and compared to what? There are a few “reviews†of the Zalto's to be found on YouTube, but most are incomplete and not useful. There is a comment about how the glass is very light and how it looks, completely ignoring what it does to the wine inside the glass. Prior to this, I had no idea that one had to be a weight lifter to use a Riedel glass. However, the lightness factor has also hit the Riedel who have their own version of a lighter Sommeliers glass. Another review compared it to the Riedel Vinum Burgundy glass that cost half as much as the Zalto Burgundy glass. So how does the Zalto Burgundy glass compare against a Riedel Sommeliers Burgundy glass that cost about 2X the Zalto? One answer is that if one is going to gulp the wine in 5 minutes or less, than perhaps the Zalto may show the wine better as one wine producer said that he only serves his wines in a Zalto. Give the Riedel Sommeliers some time and there is no question which shows the wine better. But this can also depend upon one's preferences because the Zalto can show a thinner bodied wine that maybe more minerally. The Riedel Sommeliers shows the same wine as a much more rounded wine that has a noticeably better finish. The wine is denser in the mouth in the Riedel. One drawback of the Riedel Sommeliers is that there are so many different glasses for different grapes and wines. That can be costly. A good all-around glass might be the Zalto Burgundy. But if one wants the most out of a wine (that is, pleasure and enjoyment), then go with the Riedel Sommeliers series.

Best glass for young or moderately aged Burgundy

I have been using this glass for red and white Burgundies for over 2 years now. I used Riedel Sommelier Burgundy red and white glasses before, but the Zalto glasses bring out more detail and the nose and palate impressions are more precise. I notice elements that I did not notice before with other glasses. The wines definitely taste better. I have not done a side by side comparison with Riedel Sommelier, but heard that the Riedel glasses are more forgiving towards wines with a lot more age. The oldest wine that I tried so far with this glass was a 1993 Hubert Lignier Les Combottes, and it was fabulous, so maybe I need to go to even older vintages to notice a difference.

Great product but DELICATE

This is a great glass, as it opens up a wine immediately. It makes it easy to appreciate its nose to the fullest. I really enjoy how it brings out a wine's character. I use it for any wine, for that purpose. Haven't tried a scotch yet, but that is a great idea. The only draw is that it is definitely NOT "diswasher safe" because the glass is so fine/ thin. My wife made the mistake of filling it too full with water and it burst in her hand. Don't fill it more than an inch or so! If it weren't such a spendy glass, I wouldn't have bothered writing a review. It's worth it, but be careful! Enjoy!
