The Bird House
Amazing purchase. I love my bird house 🏠
Not as described!!
Bird House looks great but it's not the same house as in the description. It has no predator guard, no secondary entry hole, it opens from the front and not the side with a safe viewing glass as described and it has no kerfs on the inside.
Cedar Blue Bird houses
Blue bird houses appear to be well built and a good buy for the money. I bought 6 and put them up on utility poles and had bluebirds using them within days. One arrived with a split top but otherwise no complaints.
Birds
Bought this for a kids craft project. The wood was easy to paint and it seemed to work. Not sure if the birds like it though. I haven’t had time to ask them.
These birdhouses are very sturdy and nicely finished. I know they will last a long, long time.
The chickadees love it
We have a chickadee family in ours already and it’s so entertaining to watch.
Bird houses. Great!
We do not get bluebirds but the swallows love them. We like the swallow as they are great mosquito control.
Wonderful birdhouse for the family birder!!!!
This seems very well built, and similar to what you would find in a wild bird supply store/boutique. Very well priced in comparison, an I would purchase a second one next year.
Excellent features
This is an excellent nest box ("bird house"). It is easy to open on the side so that it can be cleaned out at the end of the nesting season. The 1.5" opening might be perfect depending on which bird you're hoping to host. Unfortunately invasive non-native House Sparrows tend to want to take over any nest box, so a person has to be really diligent to prevent House Sparrows from overtaking/killing any cavity-dwelling native birds in any nest box including Bluebirds, Chickadees, Nuthatches and Downy Woodpeckers. (A Sparrow Spooker can help deter them.) If you have smaller birds like wrens, chickadees or nuthatches using your boxes, you can add a protective hole guard (aka "portal protector" or "predator guard") to make the hole slightly smaller to prevent invasive species from taking over the box and/or killing the family inside. This nest box also has divots in the wood to help nestlings climb out when they're ready. I have 4 of these boxes and all 4 are used as winter roosts (for sleeping) by Downy Woodpeckers. Love these houses and the price is terrific!
no good way to hang this
It's OK. Has some useless features like a viewing window on one side (like seriously, who is going to climb up a tree to view inside?). Biggest downside - there is no easy way to put this up other than one screw at the top.
Very good but check your local bird species
Bought this without knowing much about birdhouses, these are made generally for bluebirds which have a 1 1/2 diameter hole. Installed properly on a pole to avoid climbing predators and had a chickadee couple make a nice nest in it. After a while found a house sparrow emptying to whole content and eggs on the lawn. The hole was way too big for the local native chickadee that people are trying to save. House sparrows are a nuisance to local native songbirds. Do your research and get a smaller-sized hole if needed. (1 1/8) for black capped chickadee's.
Great access bird house
This is the second bird house we have purchased. Love the side door entrance . This makes cleaning out a breeze. Bought our first one 3 years ago, and nw we purchased a second one to out in a different location. I will never buy any other brand or type because this is easy to maintain and looks great
Your backyard birds will be thrilled
Good value, sturdy construction. Access door is very convenient for quick internal views and Fall cleaning - just be careful when opening because the small plexiglass sheet will slide out (and split when it falls from a 3 meter height). Added a small dowel perch on the lower front.
No copper on roof, but still well made.
This rendition of the bird house does NOT include a copper roof over the cedar roof. House is all cedar and 3/4" thick wood. Cleans easily.
Picture shown of birdhouse is a bit misleading. I thought I was purchasing a house with a copper covering but that was not the modeli purchased. Copper top actually cost more.
I didn’t get what I ordered. You did a bait and switch. You charged me the price for the one that I ordered but sent one that was
The best affordable bird house there is.
This is made of thick untreated (except for the painted roof) cedar unlike other flimsy thin bird houses I've seen elsewhere. It's important that the wood be untreated as birds are very sensitive to chemical smells. I want a bird house that will actually be used by birds instead of looking like a fancy decoration. Birds don't care about fancy. The hole is a perfect 1.5" size. No perch to avoid predators. A bird house you can't open to clean is useless so this one hits a high mark. The side panel opens up for cleaning, but it also has a plexi glass for viewing of the babies. A really neat touch. If you're going to buy this bird house, make sure to open it first to ensure there is a plexy glass inside. I found a few on the shelf that didn't have one. Lots of ventilation holes to keep the air fresh inside and even a mesh that keeps the nest about 1/4" above the floor which is a really nice touch. However, that mesh is thin and the slightest weight makes it pop out of its groove. If there's an improvement the maker could make, it's a thicker mesh. The house even has cut marks on the inside so that the babies can climb out. You don't see that in any other bird houses. A really neat touch. I put the house outside and it took about a week for a couple to adopt it. They basically hit all the notes with this house.
Birdhouses never look great after a year of use, but I bought 2 of these and they are now 3-4 yrs. old and have had nests in them every year and 2-3 times during the summer. They're still solid and will last many more years.
Cedar is rot and insect resistant. Easy to clean inbetween seasons. Came with screws to put it up even. Its a no brainer.
I love this birdhouse! Easy to access clean out. Two screws inside birdhouse to use in pre-drilled holes in back for mounting. Instructions included. Base has space for water to drain out. Small gaps under roof for ventilation. Cedar smells nice. Good size.
