Not what i expected

I purchsed 2 as part of a Douglas Fir mantle I am building. The 2 corbel don't matchup. One is about an 1/8 taller than the other so had to cut it off. This is not an easy task given it's large size. Additionally one has some significant cracks that were only partially filled with wood putty. Fortunately I can alter my plan and paint these. If i was going to stain them the would not look nice with the puttied cracks.

Perfect fireplace mantel corbel

Perfect to support a fireplace mantel. Stained with 2 coats of stain and then 2 coats of polyurethane. Outcome looks fabulous.

i love the corbels, however i thought they would have holes or hooks on them to make it easier to install instead of having to do it ourselves and risk damage

Corbels and counter tops

The corbels are very nicely designed and can hold a lot of weight. I did not expect them to need so much sanding but it was not a big deal. I looked and looked for corbels that had the right measurements that were not ridiculously expensive . Very satisfied !
