[Rewarded Review] NEVER Buy LG!!!
If I could leave 0 stars I would. This dishwasher has not worked right since I bought it. I have had nothing but trouble with LG since I purchased it. They have sent out 2 different technicians who both have no idea what is going on with it. According to the technicians, this is common with LG. LG has a reputation that there products take a dump within a year of purchasing. The customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with. They understand very little English and will keep you on hold and transfer you from one employee to the next. I have literally spent hours on hold with this company. They still have not made things right with me and I have been trying for 3 months. I spent almost $500 to have a dishwasher that can’t complete a full cycle. Please take my advice, do not buy a LG! Horrendous Service - Don't buy a HD Appliance
I've been a Home Depot Pro account holder for many years and I've done over $30k in business with them over the last ten years. That's why I'm in disbelief regarding my recent experience with buying this appliance from Home Depot. I purchased a new Dishwasher which included delivery and install. Upon the delivery the installers said the new dishwasher was defective, then they unhooked and took the old dishwasher, left puddles of water on the floor and a shut off valve to the sink disconnected... and left the house. So we couldn't use the sink until the shut off valve under the sink was either hooked up to a dishwasher or capped.I called Home Depot customer service and they said we couldn't get another dishwasher delivered for a week and that they couldn't send someone back to cap the shut-off valve so we could use our sink. So I asked about some kind of credit or resolution since now I would not only have to wait another week for a dishwasher, but have to pay maintenance to come and cap our shut-off valve so we could use our sink. Home Depot declined any resolution or assistance and said they had no responsibility for 3rd party installers. Even though they're Home Depot installers.I'm still in shock and disbelief at how this situation was handled. Not even the smallest of businesses would treat their customers with such poor service. I ended up buying from another company with great results and don't plan on ordering another Home Depot appliance in the future. I would recommend the same to everyone. Save yourself the headache. Consumer's reports gave it a 73 out of 100
Like the fold down wires in the top rack to lay stuff more flat. Like the digital display showing how much longer to finish. The seeing the words END when done. I choose this one because I felt like if the display was on the top of the door it might be affected by the steam coming out. But what I'm noticing is when my daughter reaches over the front to reach something on the counter she has a tendency to press the buttons. So maybe the buttons on the outside are not the best and on the top would be better. She's unbearably pumping it with her belly causing it to start washing or least beeping and making sounds of some sort. I like the silverware rack because it holds individual silver where up and separated with a little Loop holes. All in all it's pretty much dishwasher let's hope it lasts as long as my Frigidaire which lasted 12 years and only two Motors was replaced. Less
I would definitely buy this product again
The dishwasher is a basic and simple model to use. It looks expensive and well built. The turbo cycle and night dry is all we use and the entire cleaning and drying takes 2 hours. This is a well priced dishwasher and I can see why it has excellent reviews. The last dishwasher we had lasted us 22 years with daily use and I get the feeling that this will last us a long time because its a simple unit. Thank you LG and The Brick for providing a great product and triple play service. From the purchase to the installation this was an enjoyable experience. If I had to do it again, I would do it exactly the same way and so should anyone else who needs a dishwasher! Im not kidding. Go for it, you wont be sorry.
[Rewarded Review] OK, not great. A good value though.
Pluses - it's quiet and the dishes come out clean.Minuses - flimsy, no quick rinse cycle, racks are very thin, hard to change upper rack height, controls are sensitive and flimsy.Items in the top rack fall over unless you pull open and push close carefully. The manual does not include most of the options. For that you need to go to an online manual. That online manual has mistakes - for example, it shows the wrong key sequence to turn the chimes on and off.The racks are made of very thin rubber-coated wire. I don't imagine these will last long once they receive the inevitable nick. The machine is very very light and the door feels flimsy. The stainless steel on the interior is very thin. There is no quick wash or quick rinse cycle. The upper rack is height adjustable but has no lever or button like many other machines. You have to slide the rack all the way out of one track and put it into another. The controls can be activated just by brushing up near the machine. I find I have to set the Ctrl-Lock both when it's running and when it's off to avoid stopping or starting it by accident. Some people have complained about the flatware rack being in the back. Had they read the manual they would have seen that the rack was placed there for shipping only - it should be removed and relocated to the right-hand side for use.I paid $450 for this dishwasher including shipping. I think it's a good value for that money but if I had to do it again I'd spend a little buy a higher-quality machine. Overall I give it an 'OK'.I do not expect this machine to come close to the 18 years my outgoing Whirlpool lasted but am hoping to be surprised. Of course, I spent about the same amount of money on that machine 18 years ago as this one costs today. Less
For cleaning, it's good (although a bit loud -- there's a certain point where we keep thinking it's raining outside because the dishwasher water noise is so audible). The controls are awful, poorly contrived -- capacative touch buttons offer no feedback and my kids often inadvertently brush against the Power on/off control (if this happens while dishwasher it running, there's no way to restart from where it was at -- it's a 'start all over again' process). You can lock the controls, but Power button is still operative in the Control Lock mode -- so same risk for inadvertently turning off the dishwasher. Further, Control Lock is super frustrating to turn on / turn off, requires a 3-second push and hold on two 'buttons' that offer no tactile feedback -- sometimes if your hands are wet the cap touch buttons don't sense your fingers, but the only way you learn this when engaging Control Lock is when nothing happens after 3+ seconds. This happens a lot -- if you start the dishwasher and engage Control Lock, and then open the dishwasher (say, to add one last dish or glass) you've got to disengage Control Lock via the 3-second, 2-button push -- so that you can start up the dishwasher again. And then if you want to engage Control Lock again, a 3-second push and hold is required again. It would've been more intuitive to offer an option for deactivating Control Lock for ~5 seconds after the dishwasher has been opened or closed, which would make operating the dishwasher a lot less frustrating.Hindsight being 20/20, it would've been worth it to spend more on a dishwasher that is quieter and that had different controls (not cap touch) that are located on the top, not on the front. [Rewarded Review] Worthless dishwasher
Bought this in 10/2020. It cleaned beautifully was quiet and even though it didn’t dry like I wanted it was still pretty awesome! 3/2022 it started randomly beeping and powering down during cleaning cycles. It got so bad it couldn’t complete a ANY cleaning cycle without turning off. Lots of research and I found out that THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE! The control panel assembly’s are faulty and allow moisture to build up and basically makes the machine think the buttons are being pressed. LG warranty was worthless. I live more than 45 mins from the closest LG authorized appliance repair shop and LG literally said there was nothing they could do. Found the replacement part online and paid $236 out of pocket to repair. 5 months later the heated water circulation pump cracked and would VERY loudly screech and wouldn’t circulate water. Since there are no LG repair centers paid $267 out of pocket to fix. Now certified OEM replacement for the control panel assembly is malfunctioning, just like the original one. I did purchase an extended warranty on all replacement parts. Here’s the kicker…the control panel assembly has been discontinued and there are NO substitute parts!!! Only option now is to buy a new dishwasher. Just an FYI I am meticulous about doing routine machine maintenance and upkeep and making sure dishes are thoroughly scraped before washing. This was not user error. Less
[Rewarded Review] Happy with it
Caught it on sale, and quite happy I did! I hadn't purchased a dishwasher for about 16 years, and was amazed at the number of tricks they can do now.It does its main job - clean dishes - very well, and with a minimum of noise. Just be sure to have your "rinse aid" container stocked, and you're good to go.I was somewhat taken aback by the lack of any heated drying. Not just an option for "air dry", but none at all. I figured they must have figured it out, so took the leap, and I'm satisfied. In past years, I'd always chosen the "air dry" option, then left the door open for a few hours afterward for what was left. With this system, everything is dry except some plastic bowls - but even those are dryer than in my old dishwashers.Minor quibble: Not wild about the silverware holder for the unit. Not "terrible", just not a favorite. As well as the unit functions, I'm not going to obsess over it. If it's the worst thing I can think about it, then the unit as a whole is a winner. Less
This dishwasher always smells terrible.. always
We bought this unit because of price, appearance, and low noise Factor. This dishwasher has and always will stink in between washings. The reason is there's a pool of water at the bottom of the drain that is always there below the drain hose not allowing it to drain fully and stinking like a septic tank. We have tried everything with this unit but it is impossible because of the design of the drain hose above the bottom of the water pool. And of course LG wants nothing to do with it as they believe their products are just designed perfectly. This is terrible to have your kitchen smell like a septic every time you open your dishwasher because the previous wash never drained completely and that dirty water sits that stinks until the next wash cycle in which case it all repeats. Would never never buy this product again and do not recommend anybody do so because the design is flawed.. run from this one people.. wish we knew.. nothing worse than your beautiful kitchen smelling like a septic tank every time you open the dishwasher door Less
LG 24in dishwasher
First let me say that this LG stainless look front control dishwasher works very well. As with all new appliances there was a learning curve for me to understand the settings vs my old dishwasher. The installers were great. They came in and installed the dishwasher within an hour and they tested it out to make sure it worked before they left. It has a front control panel which is easy to use but, at first it was hard to see for me when I wanted to change the settings. The Flex Zone's settings give you the ability to just wash the upper or lower rack It holds all my big pots and pans which is a big plus for me. It cleans my dishes very well and I like the options for cleaning. I also like that some of the pegs fold down to easily hold my larger items. It has a 10-year warranty on the Direct Drive Motor. It has an Energy Star rating. The only con is it is a bit noisier than my last dishwasher. Less
Awesome unit!
I love this dishwasher. It looks great, is quiet and has many features. It weighs about 76 pounds, is 23.75” wide, 33 5/8” tall, is 24 5/8” deep and is made in Korea. Home Depot installed the unit and the installation went easily, with no issues. The unit has 3 legs: 2 in front and one in the middle of the back. If you have to level the unit, you can adjust the 2 front legs using a wrench or your fingers. If you need to adjust the leg in the back, you do so by adjusting a Phillips screwdriver on the head screw at the center of the bottom front panel (is then covered by the panel). The front is very nice and considering its finish, doesn’t show fingerprints too badly. The control panel is easy to understand and well lit and operates with a gentle touch. The dishwasher uses only 2.9 gallons per cycle – I know I use more when I hand wash dishes. It has several cleaning modes including: auto, normal, heavy, and turbo. It’s handled everything I’ve put in there so far and some of those dishes/pots/pans have been pretty messy. One unique feature is that it has a “flexible zone option” that allows you to select the intensity of the spray in different zones of the dishwasher (top shelf or bottom shelf). I find that a particularly useful option when I’m putting grungy pots/skillets in the bottom shelf, but my top shelf is only loaded with drinking glasses. There is also a high temp option, an extra dry option, a delay start option, and a night dry option. The night dry options runs a ventilation fan periodically after a cycle ends to prevent the steam inside from settling and keeping the dishes wet. Since I generally run my dishwasher just before going to bed, this works very well for me. The soap dispenser is on the door. The directions say it will hold up to 10 place settings of silverware. I didn’t count, but I know it easily holds enough for a family of 4 plus our serving and cooking utensils. The upper rack height limit is 9” and the lower rack height limit is 12.5” but keep in mind that your items don’t generally stand absolutely vertical, but lean a little bit, so that 13” platter will still fit. The manual for it is online and (the English version) runs 40 pages. It comes with a 1 year parts and labor warranty, 2 years for the main control board, the stainless steel door liner and the tub. The direct drive motor comes with a 10 year warranty. I can’t imagine anyone not being pleased with this dishwasher. Less
Stylish Dishwasher with great features
The LG Dishwasher is 24 in. with a stainless look. The controls are on top font and the dishwasher has a stainless steel tub. The dimensions of the dishwasher are H 33.63 in, W 23.75 in, D 24.63. One of the great features is the addition of the SenseClean™, (Wash feature ensures the best, most energy efficient cleaning by adjusting the water level and cycle length based on what's inside the dishwasher. Once it's time to dry, Dynamic Dry™ offers faster, more complete drying so every item is ready to put away once you open your appliance.) The reason I feel this is great is because you don’t need to take a towel to dry off the bottom of my coffee cups before putting them away. Another great feature is the Flex Zone's which provides the ability to just wash the upper or lower rack. This is great as some days we only have a few dishes which need to be washed, so we just use the upper section. This isn’t the quietist dishwasher that I every used, but so far it has been doing a great job washing the dishes. Over all installation between taking out the old unit and install this LG dishwasher took me just under 2 hours. Overall we give the LG Dishwasher a Thumbs Up! Less
Powerful Dishwasher with SS Tub
It took me about 2 hours to replace the old dishwasher with this LG Front Control Dishwasher; installing the Drain, Electric, and Water. The only real issue I had was with the water connection and LG provided almost all of the parts I needed in a bag with a long stainless steel weave connection hose. (I also needed a 1/2-inch brass nipple.) Once placed in the 24-inch width opening, leveling was easy with large feet for the front and a screw driven rear leveling foot accessible from the front. This LG dishwasher is not super quiet, but with only a few loads washed we think it is very attractive, and its 2-rack wash system is functional, powerful, and effective. It has a Stainless Steel Tub and a front panel that is "Stainless Steel Look", which looks and feels like stainless steel but magnets will stick to it, so it's not stainless steel. The upper rack has 2 rails so it can be raised or lowered to accommodate different sizes of dishes. The dishwasher has several modes and we are trying them out, one at a time. We tried and loved the Auto cycle, with SenseClean, an automatic mode that senses how dirty the dishes are and adjusts the wash cycle to achieve the cleanest dishes. My wife was quite impressed with how clean the dishes were. Because there are only 2 of us, we are very interested in the Flex Zone's ability to just wash the upper or lower rack, but we have not tried it yet. Very functional dishwasher. Highly Recommended. Does the job, seems to be working well !
Easy to install, works well. I just don't like that I need to press "Power" every time I want a cycle to initiate, or time it, or just start. I think just pressing Start should do whatever the last setting was, including the timeout to start., but, oh well....Has a dryer goop level detector... we use detergent with the drier already packaged but since I found a bottle under the sink, I decided to use on the new machine: it shut off the warning, but yeah, there is a setting where it will ignore that reservoir level.I had to run a new electric outlet because the previously installed washer had a simple wire that some lazy installer decided it would be great to just drill a hole through the floor.Like my granpa would say, "if you want something well done, do it yourself" - new outlet installed.LG decided to try to scrimp on the price by not supplying a power cord and the water inlet - yah, yah, every maker does that so, plan to spend another $30-40 bucks for the proper combo: water hose and power cord. The power cord is fine - anything you find on the appliances section for dishwashers will do...Water inlet is 3/8" MIP compression fitting, meaning you will need a 3/8" FIP compression fitting. The other side of the hose should obviously, match what it's under your sink. There is no need to use plumber's compound on these type of fittings. Watch out for the cord/water inlet combos as they have different connectors, so again, check under your sink.Water discharge goes into the garbage disposer (or a tap on the sink drain if your kitchen doesn't have a disposer). The machine comes with the metal clamp to secure the hose.Pre-installation steps, I found it waaaaay easier to just tilt the machine on its side to make the electrical and water connection - yup, remove the front black cover. Get some rags cuz there is leftover water inside from the factory tests.. not much but enough to puddle. When pushing the machine in place make sure you have some space for the water discharge hose - it's kinda beefy and it may roll on itself behind the machine... needs some "let's try again" movement but, of course, eventually it gets in place.... an extra 5-inches won't harm; or... the machine could do a better re-routing of that hose. Anyway, once it's in place, no more worries.I like it very much that it has a long screw on the front (behind the black cover) that allows you to raise or lower the rear feet to make the machine level: great feature since our kitchen and countertop is out of level alignment.. I have no idea how that happened but it's been like that since we bought the house (yah, should have paid more attention, even for a first time buyer).Front panel is what I wanted: simple to use and has a nice white display that tells you how long (estimated) until the machine finishes the current job.I still could not determine if the front buttons are touch sensitive or chiclet type... most of the time feels they are touch sensitive but sometimes I feel I need to press more firmly or longer... we'll get used to it, I guess.Has plenty of space inside, and the bottom rack seems slightly lower than my previous machine, so that is a plus.Another nice feature is the "Overnight dry" where it (machine) will run the exhaust every so often during the night to release leftover steam and prevent bubbles streaks. It's not noisy either. I can't say much about the stainless steel but I like it. I can still stick our "dirty/clean" magnetic indicator - that thing should be standard on all machines :-)Overall I'm satisfied and would recommend it. Less
