4x4 post caps

Cap is to large for 4x4 post will have to glue on any wind they are in the pool once glued they will be fine thanks

4x4 post is actually 3-3/4"x3-3/4".

It is to big for 4x4 (the post are 3-3/4"x3-3/4").

White Plastic Post Cap 4X4

This 4x4 Plastic Post cap is solid. However, it could not fit into the 4x4 post which is about 1/2" larger. Instead of shaving the post, I screwed a 4x4 piece of wood into the post and with construction adhesive glued the ends to the underside of the cap. If it fitted into the post, it would be good to have screw holes on both ends of the caps, similar to the galvanized 3.5" caps. Only white was available online, but was looking for brown or black.

They look better than the original ones installed, but slightly wider base and thus would only fit it placed over the original ones.

I like these fence post caps, I installed them to protect the fence post from rain water damage and they add a nice touch to the fence posts. I thought a better fit would be an advantage as most posts are actually less than 4"X4", however this over size creates a space like the overhang on a roof that keeps water off the top of the post. I like the slight overhang.

Used this on our Northern Lite camper bumper to store the sewer hose. These caps are for vinyl posts which are 4" x 4" not the wood post which are 3.5" x 3.5".

Great price and decent product for what it's intended for. Couldn't find in store but happy to find on line.

Doesn't fit properly...

I ordered that for 4x4 deck posts but when they arrived, these are actually 4"x4" and are way too large to cap the standard 4x4 lumber which is not 4" x 4". I returned them and got a refund. No wonder it's not stocked in HD stores because you would immediately know that they won't work if you took these to the lumber aisle. Save yourself the trouble and go another route.

I installed these about a month ago. They are replacing wooden post caps that had deteriorated over time. They look good. The post caps are true 4" x 4" and we put them on dimensional lumber pressure treated posts that are 3.5" x 3.5" so end up with a little overhang. I roughed up all surfaces internal and external with sandpaper. Used LePage No More Nails Heavy Duty adhesive to attach the post caps to the posts. Applied Acrylic paint to the post caps to match the fence post colour. I expect the post caps made, which are quite thick material, will have a good long life. Time will tell how long the adhesive and the paint are good for.
