Everyone who complains about "stability issues" with the top resting on the base probably has it assembled wrong. The wide part of the cone on the base sits on the floor. The narrow part cradles the chair. Listen, I'm not going to lie and I'm not going to pretend but I'm every bit of 278lbs. These chairs WILL HOLD UP. I have had the same one since 2006 and use it several times a week if not daily. This is a good investment.

I sit in this chair for leisure gaming (Switch) and reading occasionally. I've used it a half dozen times so far. Pretty comfortable. My dog, however, is obsessed. She loves it, and shamelessly curls up in it whenever she can. Now I have to ask the dog if I can sit in my (hers now), chair. She's adorable, so I don't mind. Good chair, for humans and dogs.

Not impressed

The two wood pieces (seat and stand) are separate and slide around every time you get in and out. The cushion fill feels cheap. Overall not comfortable and we don't use it for reading as intended. It's become another corner toy holder.

Excellent chair, cushion could be thicker

Overall, this is a really nice chair. It came in earlier than expected and was pretty easy to set up. The coloring of the cushion and chair was exactly as pictured (I got the purple cushion). To reduce the sliding and shifting that comes with this style of chair, I used zip ties to anchor it (saw this is another review). It works really well and I'm not worried about accidentally tipping over. My only con at this point is the cushion isnt as thick as I'd like. I use the chair to read and if I dont sit in it just right, I feel one of the bars. Overall, great chair. Would recommend.

Pictures online are very misleading.

The pictures online look amazing but this chair is such bad quality. I just received it today and it has cracks, splinters, scuffs and actual spider webs. It took a while to get here but that didn’t bother me, what bothers me is the complete mess that I received. The cushion is very flat and honestly that wouldn’t have bothered me, it’s moving the cushion on the base and having it get snagged on all of the splintered pieces and unsanded wood. I am beyond upset with the quality, even more so because of the price. This is something you would find at a flea market for ** bucks that has been used. Now I’m torn with having to go through the hassle of trying to figure out how to return the thing now that it’s been unpackaged or trying to get a refund.

Low Quality

Although it looks nice and is comfortable, the wooded frame is very low quality. I used the chair for 2 weeks and the wicker is breaking off on chunks. Upon inspection of the broken wood, it feels very porous and weak. I would understand the chair not accommodate a very large person but I am only 132lbs.

still in perfect shape, comfortable and beautiful

it looks even better than in the pictures on this site. there is a strong scent of the lacquer on the wood, but that will fade in time. I look at the smell of freshly lacquered wood, as a good indicator that this is a brand new piece. the only con I had with this is that the pieces came with only a small note card telling the purchaser how to get up from the chair after sitting. absolutely no assembly tips. this was bought as a gift. and we had no idea that there is no hardware needed to assemble the papasan chair. I would recommend this chair to friends. and will most likely be purchasing another. edit* purchased a second chair and after over a year of nearly daily use still beautiful and comfortable and in excellent shape.

Order with the ottamon for comfort upgrade.

Overall satisfied with purchase. We ordered the chair and ottoman in the color sage. Unfortunately the ottoman is made from a different material making the color contrast. The cushion on the ottamon is more of a velvet type material rather than cotton, making the feel and color slightly different. The color contrast is more noticeable in person than in the photo. Our teenage sons (whom we bought this for) enjoy it though. It is very comfortable to cuel up in. So far it appears quite sturdy. My husband and teenage sons are roughly 200 lbs each and sit comfortably in this chair. Even with the color difference, I would highly recommend getting the ottoman as it makes sitting in this chair MUCH more comfortable.

Papasan Chair looks great... just what we wanted!

This order took 7 'business' days to process... was told it could take up to 10 days when I called to see what the holdup was - was a nail biter because it's a Christmas gift. Thankfully the actual shipping only took a couple days. Whew! It arrived in one large box and I opened it right away. The rattan frame seemed to be well wrapped/packed. I didn't remove the packing because this BIG box will be gift wrapped. Our grandson will love that. 😉 I did however remove the cushion because it was so *very* compressed it looked small. It was inside of a big plastic bag and wrapped tighty with lots of packing tape. Once all of that was carefully removed I could immediately see the microfiber cushion is actually big, soft AND beautiful !!! I'm very pleased with it.

Great quality at a great price

I bought this for my 3 yr old daughter. She saw one out shopping one day and said she wanted one. For weeks she kept asking me for the " big squishy chair". The chair arrived in a big box. The box was awkward but can easily be managed by a woman. The box was not damaged, and the contents were all well packaged. The chair seems sturdy and well made. The cushion color, we got berry berry, is very true to the online pics. I wish it was a big thicker but it is thick enough for her. I do wish that they offered a frame in a lighter color or even painted white. I do intend to use chalk paint and a sealer on the chair soon so that it will match her decor. I got the chair at a great price! I used a coupon plus my Overstock rewards. I can't stress enough how great the rewards program is....definitely worth the membership fee! Overall I highly recommend this papasan chair...my little one is thrilled with her " squishy chair"
