Mixed review. Arrived quickly and appears in good quality. But missing parts and not as tall as advertised was frustrating.

I purchased this range hood and the extension kit. It was billed as being able to reach 10-12ft. But it cannot. It can only reach about 110" ((as measured from the bottom of the hood to the ceiling) with the extension kit - far short of 10-12 feet. Plus the extension angle steel was poorly wrapped and taped to the outside of the extension box, resulting in the thin bag of screws to be ripped and screws were missing. The box said the extensions were 38" long. They are not. They are 35 1/2" long. As a result of being too short, and missing parts, I have not been able to install it. I tried their chat line at 530p eastern time and after waiting 15 minutes I gave up. I called their number and even though they said they were open until 830p no one answered. I left a message. It might be a good product, but I would not buy another one.

High quality stainless steel unit and it shows

This is a high quality 19 gauge #430 stainless steel unit and it shows. The warranty on the product is three years and lifetime on the blower motor. I really like the dual controls, just tap the off switch once and walk away. The 3 minute autotimer delay shut off allows the hood to clear the room and then shuts off the blower and the LED lights. It was easy to install (if you work with tools) and looks stunning. Installation is a two man job (one in the attic and one below). I just built a bracket and use lag bolts to secure it to ceiling joints. The hard part was figuring out the bracket and exact where I wanted it to be placed. I have attached pictures of bracket which I modified from braces that I found online.

Looking to complete a remodel with a focal point and chose this hood. We were and are impressed. The quality, fit, and finish of the hood are same or better than hoods costing twice as much.

Awesome range hood. It looks beautiful, is very solid, and works great. The fan is more powerful and yet quieter than many other brands. Even on high, you can have normal conversation across the room without raising your voice. And I love the 3-minute timer: if you push the Off button once, the fan will turn itself off in 3 minutes; or push it twice and it turns off immediately. But as good as the range hood is, the ZLINE customer support is even more amazing. I contacted them because a part was missing from the short chimney kit (which I had ordered separately through another company). They answered the phone after 2 rings and were very pleasant, helpful, and easy to understand. They quickly identified what I needed, shipped it that day, and it arrived at my house 2 days later. So I would recommend this to anyone who wants a quality product and great service.

RANGE HOOD IS DARN NEAR PERFECT - HAD IT 2 YEARS

We purchased and installed this range hood, ZLINE 36" Island Range Hood GL14i-36, about 22 months ago. We'd looked at MANY, so many, range hoods before making our decision to purchase this Z-Line model. We'd looked at many different units from many different manufacturers in many different price ranges in many different, but similar styles. We wanted an elegant look, excellent function (who cares how good it looks if it doesn't work - it has to do its job first and foremost) and easy cleaning. Additionally, I'm tall at 6' 4" so mounting it high enough so that the bottom edge would be above my sight line was an important feature to me, so that I could look at someone on the other side of the island without stooping. Therefore, the ability to mount this up to 36" above the stove top was also an important factor. Fortunately, there was a Range Hood Store near us, so we were able to go there and see their products (if you're not as lucky as we were to be nearby a store, know that everything we saw in the store was high quality and looked like the online pictures). We'd been concerned because of their excellent, very competitive prices that their products might be "cheap" in quality, look or construction WE FOUND OUT THOSE WORRIES WERE UNFOUNDED, so you can order online with confidence even if you have no nearby store to visit in person. Additionally, my wife worried that keeping it clean would be an issue, partly because of the glass portion of this hood. Well, it's pretty darn easy to keep clean and the dishwasher safe filter is nice too. Some people's reviews say that it is loud when in use . . . and, when it's on the highest setting, 4, it is kind of loud, BUT we've found it to be MUCH QUIETER than those BRAND X units in use by some of our friends over their islands. Further, our very quiet dishwasher is certainly louder than this hood, it's just not at ear height like our range hood, which I think may make seem folks think it's louder than it is. One last thing is the fact that there's a set of control buttons on each side of unit and I remember thinking, "There's no need for the duplicate set of buttons, I'll only use the ones on the same side as the stove top control knobs." But, now I cannot tell you just how handy it is to have the duplicate set of controls as we use them far more often than I would have ever thought. So, after almost 2 years we're still happy and we wanted to write this review, so you know you can order with confidence.

Love the modern look. I was worried the large SS hood would overtake my kitchen but it did not; even with the extension we used. It really enhanced it. We did the installation ourselves, Huge mistake! This hood weighs a ton and once the vent is placed on the roof and the perfect cut hole is in the ceiling someone must hold the hood (fully assembled) and lift it into the hole while another person screws it into the "box" built under the drywall. It is not hard, just need some muscle and coordination. The fan is very powerful, I have to clean the vent cover often especially after cooking greasy foods such as bacon. This is proof the vent is pulling the air into the vent. Easy to remove and cleans with some soap and water. The lighting is perfect, each one can move in an orbital motion so light can be directed as needed. 4/5 stars were given due to cleaning the top and the arm of the hood to the ceiling. I have not found a cleaning material that does not leave streaks. I'm sure its out there, customer service has not been able to tell me what to use.

Nice product for the price

I bought this model after comparing several similar products. The main things that swayed me were the design, price, and fast shipping.

Very good job of venting, even on lowest fan speed

The hardest part of installation was preparation of a solid mounting surface in the ceiling. Not sure why the mounting kit included drywall anchors ... it needs to be mounted to solid wood with very sturdy screws. I vented through the roof and that also took a good deal of preparation and a separate roof vent. I built a simple "table" out of scrap wood that I set on the counter top, straddling the stove top. Two people could then left the hood to the table top and with shims adjust it to exactly the right height to fasten the frame screws. It would be very difficult to do this any other way unless you have at least three people. The hood itself works very well but it is loud and vibrates slightly at the highest setting which I have never found a reason to actually use. The unit came with LED lights that I had to substitute for the original small halogens. I like the LEDs much better. It looks great! The glass seems to create more of an "open" feeling in our relatively small kitchen.
