The shelves are easy to assemble and install, even with the wall brackets above the shelves. They are solid construction and well made. The depth is great for deep boxes to sit full on the shelf without sticking out.

Solid Product - Very Pleased

Good delivery / packaging (ie recyclable cardboard vs that awful styrofoam stuff). Product is well made and capable of handling any "typical" residential garage wall storage need. I installed directly into concrete block. No issues using hammer drill, tapcon-type screws, etc. TAKE YOUR TIME and check twice or three times. Then check again after first hole has been drilled. Plan on 1-2 hours per shelf if you're an amateur like me. These shelves are solid and do the job really, really well.

Perfect for my application

I bought this shelf along with 4 four-foot lengths of Gladiator gearwall and some accessories . What a great solution. It's really tidied up my utility room. My only concern is that the shelf can only support 50 lbs. It's not an issue for my application but precludes me from using another shelf like this for storing cans of paint.

extremely sturdy

got this shelf so I could have a spot for my antique radio and speakers in the garage. All the items together weigh nearly 60lbs so it had to be a sturdy shelf that I could trust. installation was a pain at first because I tried to snap the shelf onto the gear track like it was any hook. you can't so that, you have to slide the shelf from the side onto the track and slide it to where you want it to properly mount. this may be an issue for you if your gear track is in a tight space, but I was able to so it and now I listen to the radio in the garage and have my fear of my radio being damaged or falling. the only improvement to be made on the product is that it snaps so tightly to the track, and the metal mesh is so tight, that you cannot pass an electrical cable through the shelf, you have to run it to the side, which could be a problem if you had many of these shelves lined up. my cable was able to go around, but maybe an improvement for future designs having a small hole for cables and such to pass through.

Sturdy shelf with nice tight mesh surface. The mounting hardware is less than impressive however. I beefed it up a little bit with additional hardware. Also the instructions for locating the wall pieces are simply wrong. But the end result is what I wanted: a nice deep shelf that leaves the floor below it open. I'd buy it again.

Great garage storage shelf

Super easy to assemble and install and I'm not very good at that kind of thing. I assembled and installed 5 of these in under an hour. The tracks were already up, so that does not include putting up the tracks. I've had the max load on at least 3 of them for over a week now with no issues. You can install them with the supports above or below the shelves depending on your needs. There's still plenty of room for other gear hooks so you can hang stuff beneath the shelves. Really happy with this product and I will probably buy 3 more.

Another Great Gladiator Product

I had previously installed some shelving against one side of my garage wall that provided storage underneath and on top of the two sections. It was always difficult to access the items underneath as one would have to take a brace out and maneuver the items around the support legs. Using two of these Gladiator shelves I have adequate shelf space to store items on the shelves themselves and now have much more flexibility to store items underneath on the garage floor. Now I can easily access my lawnmower, air compressor, generator, and shop vac.

Very disappointed

I mounted one above my garage door. I choose this product because I had 24" stud ) spacing (nominally) and saw that I could attach the gear wall slats onto 3 studs, centered about the middle stud. I did so, and that left 6" or so from the end of the geartracks slats to the center of the end stud on each side. I used 1-sized larger screws and 1/2" longer(allowed by our 2"x6" studs) than sold by gladiator. Much to my dismay, when I attached the shelf, the ends of the top tracks were separating from the wall - just from the rather trivial weight of the shelf! The screws were still in tight. I am absolutely afraid to put even 10 lbs loads on the shelf, much less the 75 or 150 lb (the latter from the carton, the former from the instruction sheet). For that reason, the shelf will be of no use to me. Another point of concern was the shape of the top brackets. The bottom end of each, i.e., that which rest in the track grove) have inverted trapezoid shapes with narrow rounded bottoms. That means that the loading on the base of the track slot would be such that it would damage the track if loaded. Perhaps worse, the with of the brackets are, maybe 0.75", and it pulls against the thin rim of the upper slot. The gearwall is easily distorted (bent) at the ends with no loading, I can't imagine that the brackets/tracks would survive 75 lbs or more. This product would be infintely better if I could just screw the top brackets into the studs. of course, the shelf would have to be 49.5" wide to hit two studs on center. I hope to bring the shelf back. I don't know what I'm going to do with the geartracks. Needless to say I'm very disappointed. I'm not a bad engineer myself and am totally perplexed by the many good reviews? Did I get faulty tracks?

Not laterally secure and poorly engineered

These shelfs look great, but do not provide the most basic security for mounting options. I installed one shelf, in the inverted mounting position (brackets going above the shelf), and I noticed that the backplates need to be spaced out in order for this shelf to mount. In other words, if you had an unlimited amount of money and made a wall of gladiator mounting slates (like they picture in their product advertising), this shelf will not mount on said wall. You instead need to awkwardly space out two rows of slating (one for the top and one for the bottom) in order for both ends to mount. KIND OF A DUMB DESIGN GLADIATOR.

The product quality is very good so my rating of one star is not based on the quality. The picture that I saw appears to show the shelf mounted to the wall. When I opened one of the four boxes I ordered, the shelf cannot be mounted directly to the wall. It must be attached to GearTrack or GearWall which is at an additional cost.

Satisfied with the product. It is well made and sturdy. Purchased it to store bulky, but relatively lightweight items high on the Gearwall system. Assembly is straightforward, but attaching it to the Gearwall was initially problematic. There are no directions on how to do that. The triangular support brackets easily bolt to the shelf, and are mounted to the Gearwall panel via two smaller brackets that attach to the large triangular brackets. Those smaller brackets have two bolts and wing nuts to secure to the triangular brackets. The triangular brackets have several slotted holes, so you have to figure out which set of slotted holes to use for the small brackets to properly attach the shelf brackets to the Gearwall. The shelf itself has an lip along the back that fits into the Gearwall panel, so you need the correct set of slots in the triangular brackets for the small brackets to mount in the Gearwall panel such that the lip along the back of the shelf simultaneously can fit into the Gearwall panel. What I ultimately did was place the small brackets onto the Gearwall panel at the height I needed for the shelf, spacing them about 45" apart. Then lifted the shelf (with triangular brackets attached) and picked which slots of the triangular brackets to use to align to the bolts in the small brackets so that at the same time the lip of the shelf was also aligned to the slots in the Gearwall panel. Let the lip of the shelf slip into the Gearwall panel slot, then attach the wingnuts to the bolts in the small brackets, but not tight. Final two steps are to adjust the shelf position laterally to where you want it, then tighten the wingnuts.

Nice spacious shelf

We installed a few of the Gladiator garage organizing items this month. My husband is not a handy guy but he could handle this project without any trouble. I like the quality of the product and the flexibility of it. We installed 5 of the 4' sections of track, and we did two of the large shelf (granite) and two baskets and a hook. You need to track sections for each large shelf to hold the weight. We have room to do one more section of track and hang up more hooks or whatever we want to hang from the track, but will wait and see how the garage stays organized with what we've done so far. We did up on the end caps as well, it finishes off the edges nicely and keeps flying bugs from getting behind the track. It is pricey stuff, but didn't see anything of this quality or with the flexibility to change things around as easily.
