Flooded my home after remodel completed

The door opens outward meaning if the door isn’t completely sealed the water pressure will cause the door to burst open, releasing all the water in an instant, resulting in flooding. The door on the tub I have has a handle that requires a lot of strength to actually seal, rather than just close the tub. A door that opens inward would have prevented the door flying open, slamming into and damaging newly installed drywall and freshly painted wall. Our major home remodel was completed two weeks before this tub malfunction flooded four rooms, requiring some of newly completed renovations to be torn up and re-done. It’s a remodeling nightmare and I deeply regret purchasing this tub. American Standard is such an established company I blindly trusted the product, which is my mistake.

This unit is very solid and you can tell it is well built. It was missing a few parts for the door drain like the check valve and a 3/8" barb. other than that it is a nice unit as it isn't easy finding a wheel chair door tub.

Good quality unit with many features at a good price point. This model with the wider door accommodates larger users. Be advised you will need to drill out for faucets and handles. Instructions for faucet assembly are somewhat lacking. Manual is written for a range of models in this series, and one must be watchful for the unique issues of your particular unit. Manual did not reflect flexible braided water supplies, and called for a rather unique fitting for the faucet valves (3/4" NP), surprising our local plumbing supply owner. I called a plumber friend to help finish mine, and assist with the drain as well. With inline heater, be prepared to run three new 20A circuits for the pumps and heater. Drain is a bit involved as well with power drain and door drain going into the main 1 1/2" drain. Unless you are competent as a homeowner doing plumbing and electrical, some professional help will probably be necessary.
