Just right - with one small little non-bother warning.

This was The One I needed to complete my sanded, stained, and waxed beautiful front door. The original was corroded and non-working. This bolt looks beautiful and works well. However, the oil rub bronze was all over my fingers as I attached the bolt. Washes off. Bolt looks good and action is good on door. No problems. Just had to be honest.

Nice unit visually and the bolt itself is well made. The screws that come with it are REALLY cheesy and difficult to get seated properly so the bolt will clear them and slide freely. And just so you know, this ain't my first rodeo, I have quality screwdrivers and know what I'm doing. The screws appear to be aluminum and cam out easily. It doesn't take much of a burr on the screw head to prevent the bolt from sliding.

But this product didn't work for us, we need it different design.

Bought 12 from Home Essentials Direct to use on the large entrance doors in my catering hall. Schlage bolts are heavy duty and could take abuse.

I gave this item 3 stars because it appeared to be functional even though I did not install it. My problem was with the finish, it looks much better in the photo. It didn't appear to be lacquered & had discolorations that I don't believe could be removed. It would have looked terrible with my polished brass door knob & deadbolt (also Schlage) which have had a beautiful finish for at least 10 years. I ended up getting a Baldwin, a bit more expensive but I'm very happy with it.
