Poor product
Two and a half years ago I purchased and had a professional install a Zoeller sump pump model 1075. I needed something reliable. I thought this would be a good choice. Three times the float stuck and I had to deal with flooding. I put a high-water alarm on it to at least let me know when it was not working. That saved me two more times, once I was out of town and had to rush home and got there just in time before the flooding did damage. Last year I contacted Zoeller and asked what I could do to avoid the float from sticking. They said someone would contact me. No one ever did. I have been thinking what to do about it when it happened again. This time the float not only stuck but the float post and the float came detached from the pump. I have taken the pump out of the pit in hopes that I could see what the problem was and fix it, or get it fixed. So far I have not been able to. Zoeller has no services centers closer than over 100 miles away. I would not expect a product to give me so much trouble and fail so quickly after purchase. I am very unhappy with the product. The only solution I see now is to purchase another pump from a different manufacture-one that has a longer warranty than two years. I should have known that with such a shout warranty Zoeller must have little faith in their product. I wanted you to know how totally disappointed I am with Zoeller.
Great Unit
My 1/3 HP sump pump died in a heavy rain. Bought this 1/2 HP unit and my plumber installed it for me. (properly). This pump ran through the backed up water in less than 5 minutes. Powerful!
Great pump. Even under severe conditions.
Pump works great even when abused . Probably a little too small for what I use it for. I have a French drain into sump in back yard and pump 200ft up 10ft to drainage area. During really heavy rains this pump is too small for my drainage system and is fully submerged to the point it will take a 4 or 5 hours to pump the water off enough for pump to get a break. I have had this pump run for 16 hours straight before and never had an issue with it. Cycles on and off as intended.
do not buy
Wow, it looks like this happens a lot. After 2 or 3 weeks, it stopped working. After tapping on the pipe, it started working again. As other people have suggested, it must be the switch. Since I'm not going to live in the crawl space, I took this back to the store, luckily it was within 30 days.
Great until it aint
Same as many others have echoed I've had problems with the switch. I've 2 of these and they worked fine for about a year.the pumps seem well made and pump water well, but that's not helpful if it never comes on. I'd bought these because they were supposed to be better than the drummond( harbor freight) pumps, but the $89 harbor freight pumps lasted for more than 5 years before I had any failures. At 3x the cost I'd of expected alot more from zoeller.
Float switch gets stuck
I bought this pump a few months ago. The float switch started sticking on and off within a few weeks. It seems this switch is a magnetic reed switch. The magnet is floating up properly, but the switch does not always actuate / deactivate properly. Recommend choosing a pump with a mechanical switch.
What a liability.
We had this pump installed for a little over a month. In that time it failed twice, both times flooding our basement. Each time the issue seemed to be isolated to the float switch not working smoothly... you might as well pay someone $250 to fill your basement with water and save yourself the surprise.
Pump quit after less then two month.
Do not buy. Pump float stuck in the up position and basement flooded after only less then 2 month after installation. Buy a Wayne or other brand. I am not the only one who has experienced this. Do not buy.
Follow up on M98/98-0001 and 1075-0001.
See my previous 1 star Jan 10, 2024 review. If you need to repair the switch on a M98/98-0001 or similar, you may want to try the repair assembly (switch) Model: 004702 which is less than a new pump. As for the 1075-0001, my pump, new out of the box, failed in about 2.5 weeks. The switch failed to turn the pump on. Don't buy this model pump until they fix the switch issue or risk a flooded basement. I'm going to buy a new 98-0001 and the repair kit for my old 98-0001 as a backup.
Quiet and powerful
During a recent 3 inch rain storm, our original “builder’s grade” pump stopped at the worst possible time. A friend who had just finished renovating his home highly recommended the Zoeller brand of sump pumps. It was easy to install and is nearly completely silent in operation. Very happy with my purchase!
same problem as everyone else don't buy
so, in frustration I am reading the other reviews and see I am not alone. this pump has a history of not activating. jiggle the pipe or yank on the power cord and it activates. my basement flooded twice yesterday. luckily I am an early riser otherwise...there would have been a lot more water. today, it stopped this afternoon. I noticed water pooling around the pit, I gently kicked the pipe and it cut on. I know zoeller is going to reply and ask me to phone them and I will phone tomorrow. no, I don't want the same pump. I got online to try and find a different model/make that isn't defective.
Issues after 10 seconds (broken impeller)

Float does not trigger the switch!!!
Float does not trigger the switch!!! Added a bobber with fishing line to help lift the float for a quick fix u till I can get a good pump Pump is brand new. No obstructions keeping it from working. worked fine after adding the bobber. DO NOT BUY!!!
Hoping for the best
I had a Zoeller 1/3 HP that finally quit after 11+ years - needed a replacement FAST, as I had 4" of water in my basement. Was familiar with the brand & didn't hesitate on buying another. Quick & easy to install, & it made quick work of getting rid of the water. The only complaint so far is the violent twist it makes when it cycles on - hoping all that torque doesn't create issues down the road. I'm just now seeing all of the negative ratings, & I sure hope I didn't make a BIG mistake. I only gave 4 stars due to all of the negative feedback - will update my review as time goes by - as of right now it's doing what I need of it, & I'm hoping for the best.
Stopped working at 2nd use
I bought this 2 yrs ago when our basement flooded during a heavy rain storm and haven't used it since. I cut a hole in our slab so I could monitor water level. Today i noticed the water level about to over flow onto the slab. Being the 2nd time I ever used the pump, I placed it in the sump bucket and plugged it in, but all it did was hum (bad motor). Over priced junk! Spend the extra $100 and buy a real one from a plumbing supply store.
so frustrating
My old pump of 10 years went put and flooded the basment. Picked this one out and went with the more expensive version. After doing the plumbing and installation it does not work. Out of the box, broken. Added to an already frustrating situation
Why does Lowe's still sell this pump?
I bought this pump less than a year ago. Two weeks ago the basement flooded. A little jiggle of the discharge pipe and the switch activated and cleared the water. I watched the pump carefully over the next couple days, and sure enough, it failed again -- again the switch did not activate. I replaced the pump immediately with a different brand. I did check the pump to see if there was any debris or other blockage that was causing the switch not to activate. And today. out of curiosity, I read the reviews here... and found that the chief complaint among the one-star reviews is a switch failure. So, as I said -- why is Lowe's still selling this pump. And thanks, but no thanks, Zoeller, I do NOT want you to give me a new pump... I'm not risking the $5000 repair on a flooded furnace on a $250 "free" pump.
Doesn’t work all the time
I bought and installed this pump on July 3, 2023. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. I heard my backup pump alarm going off two days after I installed pump. The Zoeller pump was completely submerged in water. I tapped the side of it and it came on. I ran water in my sump until the float kicked the pump on. I ran water in my sump a second time and the float switch didn’t work. DO NOT BUY THIS OVERRATED PUMP!!!!!
Float Switch
Spent the extra money for a high quality pump only to have my basement flood after the first rain. Everything tested great when it was installed but when it rained and the basement had several inches of water, I went to the pump and very gently tapped the discharge pipe and the pump kicked on and drained the basement. As I continued to test, the float switch worked a few times and then it would stop working until I gave the pipe a very gentle tap. Very poor design or defect for the switch for such a critical componet to a house.
gives me a year
I've had 3 of these in 3 yrs. my pump kicks on sometimes a couple dozen times a day. I only get a year out of them. The float eventually won't kick the pump on anymore but if you use your fingers to pull up on slide rod it'll kick on. Pumps never burned out, just the float doesn't trip it. I'll try the new design they have out with out the slide rod and see if that works better.
