Good at the beginning
I purchased this composter about 3 years ago. I was initially very happy with its design and quality. However, the hollow metal bar that runs through the center of the chambers, providing an axis for tumbling, did not withstand the exposure to the elements and the compost here in sunny, humid Florida. The metal disintegrated. I suspect the tumbler would be excellent in cooler, less humid climates, but alas, not here.
Sturdy! Easy to put together! The industrial designers did a great job writing the instructions for this. Makes composting easy. Haven’t had long enough to have a solid batch of compost yet, it’s definitely doing its thing!
This composter is nicely designed and the two chambers to provide enough soil for a modest garden. Lots of parts to assemble which takes some moderate effort and time. Not too difficult and the instructions are pretty easy to follow.
Solid
My husband and I put it together in an afternoon, but do clear your calendar: even for mechanically inclined people, it takes time and a video. Worth it: it's solid and will last.
Easy to put together. When full, very easy to turn the drum for proper composting. Fast delivery
Great customer support
This item shipped out fast but the boxes got banged up and some parts went missing. Riverstone, the distributor, was very responsive and sent out replacement parts quickly. Instructions are a bit vague with mainly pictures. Getting the panels oriented correctly requires care and attention
Very satisfied with this purchase and the prompt delivery - the items arrived a few days earlier than the original estimate. Assembly was time-consuming but straightforward, and the video provided online by the manufacturer helped a lot. The tumbler is attractive and well-designed. It is easy to fill, fun to rotate (the grandkids help) and easy to empty into the cart for distribution around the yard. I have usable compost (from vegetable scraps and dried grass clippings) after only 3-4 weeks in late winter, so the black color obviously helps keep the internal temperature relatively high. Having two compartments inside - one with compost ready and one in progress - is a huge improvement over previous composters I've owned, and having interchangeable doors to designate which side is which is genius.
We were able to cut down on so much food garbage and already developing a good. Compost for this summer!
Difficult to put together by self-- Son came over to finish it up--So far doing a GOOD Job with composting leaves & kitchen stuff!!
This thing is a workhorse. I love that there are two sides so I can have one side "cooking" and one side that I add material to. The barrel is easy to turn it doesn't take up much room in my garden. Don't try to use the cart for much more than some light garden waste. My nephew who lived with us destroyed the thing hauling gravel and such with it. That is NOT what it's designed for. Consider yourself warned.
Great little composter! Works well for adding removing. If it’s really full it will require two hands for spinning.
Solid instructions - well written and easy to follow - rare for items bought through this site! Seems very heavy duty - looking forward to using it!
I love this composter. It's sturdy, very easy to turn and holds a large amount of green and brown materials.
This took my husband about 4 hours to put together; however, I think it was well worth the time because product seems very sturdy. I’ve only been using it for a month but I think it will hold up for years to come. The turning ability is quite easy, even easier than I thought it would be and having the ability to lock it in place to check the contents is fabulous! The sliding panels to access the composter slide easy to check on the progress of the composting. I definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a composter.
Just built not used yet.
The product engineering appears to be done beautifully. IT did take at least a few hours to build but at a leisurely pace. I found the instruction manual to be easy to follow. I did not go to the website http://www.mazeproducts.com.au and view the assembly video. Everything appears to be rugged and of high quality. But as an engineer I would have preferred to have an option of stainless steel hardware. The hardware inside the barrel generally would be expected to rust in the long term. Still it is unusual to see this level of quality in a consumer item. One note on cart assembly: Swap steps 4 and 5 for much easier assembly. A scratch awl or drift pin will be helpful.
Made from sturdy components, assembly instructions were thorough and easy...

I bought 2. They are great. The assembly is a little more detailed than anticipated. But worth it!
Compost To Fertilize and Recycle
It took 2-3 hours to assemble as per instructions. It takes some patience and pay attention to the instructions since it takes a little bit to decipher. A slight bit of mechanical ability helps to make sure it is assembled correctly. Nice heavy duty plastic. Started using it a few days ago so cannot say how well it will work. I believe some trial and error will have to take place to get a good compost. The instructions do give some tips and hints on how to achieve usable compost in the tumbler. Read it!
Nice design
I just ordered this composter and I received it yesterday. I immediately opened the boxes and put it together. It would have been good to have an extra pair of hands to hold, but working alone it worked out well. Pay attention to the instructions. It took me right at 3 hours to assemble, but I took my time and at my age, 75 next month, I thought I did ok. Now it just seeing how it works.
65 gallon Maze composter
This is my 3rd year composting with the maze tumbling composter. We live in northern MI and I compost year round. I have it tucked under the roof awning by our garage, far enough away from being able to smell it during the warm months. I have multiple flower beds and the smaller original veg trug for growing vegetables. It's great!! I do have to pry the door open during the winter as it freezes shut. Generally, I turn it so the doors are faced against the house. Love the cart that came with it. I just load it up with my gardening supplies and haul it around the yard. Have definitely recommended this to my serious gardening friends.
