[Rewarded Review] Dishwasher Safe - Sturdy

Dishwasher safe. Sturdy and a good size. Handle is heavier than my old on so does tend to tip if set in a bowl.

Sturdy product

I wanted a larger strainer for sifting flour when making cakes and this is perfect. Good size which means no flour spillage over the sides. OXO products are really good quality, yes they are more expensive but you get what you pay for.

Perfect for larger amounts of smaller produce

I wash a lot of fresh local produce in the summer, and this size strainer is great for washing larger amounts that don't require the colander (a quart of berries or enough lettuce for a big salad). The fact that everything but the handle is stainless steel also means it will last longer since the ones with plastic rims tend to crack over time.

No Strain At All

I have owned several strainers over the course of my life, but this particular version makes them all look uncommitted. From the uncompromising rubberiness of the grip to the gleaming mesh, this utensil soars like an eagle.

Warranty Replacement of broken strainer.

Received warranty replacement of strainer that separated at handle. Appreciated the prompt replacement of the original strainer. Encourages me to continue to replace all my kitchen utensils with OXO products.

This strainer is large and durable. I like that I can strain noodles, potatoes, etc. fast because of the size. It is sturdy and works as intended.

This item was a replacement

This item was a replacement for my original 8 inch strainer, which had a weld break between the handle and the basket. The new one is significantly less substantial. Less metal, and generally seems to be less sturdy. I hope it will function satisfactory, but the original seems to be better built.

Easy to Handle and Simple to Store

It is very easy to use with big draining jobs and small draining jobs. I had purchased a larger strainer from you earlier, but this is the most versitle one and it is a good size for storing. It does not take up that much room. It is easy to handle.

8 years and as good as the day I got it!! Amazing!

OK, listen to me. Every time I use this strainer, and I use it often, I think that I should do a review because I'm so impressed, after 8 years! Do not worry about the price. You won't have to replace it, at least not for a very long time. Seriously, I see no signs of wear. And I most often use it to strain the extra water out of a package of frozen spinach, which means pressing down on the mess quite firmly (I support the underside with my other hand when I do this, though--I'm not stupid). The mesh is still perfect, the finish is great, the rubber handle is fine, everything! And I wash it in the dishwasher every time! And it's a great size for smaller straining jobs (get a bigger one if you want to strain a whole batch of spaghetti or something). And the length of it is perfect to straddle the edges of my sink so it's hands free! If this review sounds too good to be true, just believe me. It's that good, or I wouldn't have bothered to review it 8 years later!

Pretty okay I guess

This strainer is big, sturdy, and gets the job done. However, it would be so much better if the hook to stabilize the strainer over the pot were two angled off center hooks rather than one relatively straight center hook. The construction of this strainer results in a wobbly, unstable user experience. I use this strainer to strain stocks and broths.

Great sifter, strainer, colander!

I have used this product daily for almost 3 years as a colander for pasta, a strainer for broths and a sifter for flour and powdered sugar. It is sturdy, easy to clean by hand or in the dishwasher. Mesh is fine enough to rinse quinoa and sprinkle powdered sugar. Holds about 2 cups.

Oxo does an awesome job, as always

Our old fine mesh colander the metal literally started pulling out of the frame, rusting, and the black coating peeled up. I see no sign that this oxo colander will ever do that. Handle comfortable to hold, sturdy little hook on the end, mesh holding shape and firm frame.

This strainer has a finer mesh than the generic strainer I bought from Webstaurant. It’s pricier, but has a nicer finish to it than the generic version. In a commercial kitchen, I would probably go for the generic strainer. But in my personal kitchen, I prefer the OXO product for its nicer hand-feel.
