Perfection

This knife block is the perfect combination of beauty and functionality. The wood block is gorgeous and the magnet in it is strong, but the acrylic cover also adds an extra layer of protection without covering up the knives like a traditional knife block would. I've got some beautiful Bob Kramer and Miyabi Damascus steel knives, so I definitely didn't want to hide them away. The sales rep was nice enough to inform me that the acrylic cover comes intentionally loose so it doesn't crack in shipping, and the information sheet inside the box said the same thing. It does with its own hex wrench and an additional screw in case you lose one. Love it.

Perfect sleek knife holder solution

I hate having a cluttered countertop and this is the perfect solution to reducing space and keeping my knives up here. It fits about 5 knives for me and it's so nice to see which ones i'm pulling out. Love this. It's perfect.

Great knife holder

Does what it claims to do. It's perfect and you can fit a lot of knives on both sides. Its a bit more than the run of the mill knife blocks, but if you want something a little different I highly recommend it.

Beautiful, Space Saving, Functional.

We live in NYC and the counter space in our kitchen is valuable real estate. As avid cooks, we like to have our knives easily accessible but our old-school knife block was taking up a huge section of the counter. With the Schmidt Brothers Acacia Midtown Knife Block, we can beautifully display and use up to 8 of our favorite knives. The product is streamlined and well made, we love that the magnet in the wood keeps the knives well organized, but it is a bit difficult to get a knife out with overhead cabinets [we have to maneuver them out by an angle] and you have to be thoughtful about making sure the knives are clean/dry before placing them back to prevent visual dirt on the clear coating.

Space Saving and nice to look at

Beautiful replacement for our old knife block and has more space for storing additional knives. I was initially unsure of how I would like the plexiglass protector against the magnetic block, but it adds the safety of protecting wandering little kid fingers from accidental cuts so I can't complain. Of note, as with most magnetic blocks, there are two (hidden) rows of magnets to hold the blades against the block. Smaller bladed knives like a paring knife wont always sit straight up and down since the 2nd row of magnets is just at the tip of the knife.

Excellent value knife block for my smaller German and Japanese knives that will not fit in Japan- Global block. Magnet is strong, great small size to fit 5 knives to include a German cleaver on the opposite side

Not the happies camper

I have had a the larger Schmidt Bros knife block and would never buy it again. Its lovely in the photos, but in reality it is virtually impossible to use this knife block routinely if you cook every day. Use makes it look terrlible because the wood behind the lucite gets knicked and damaged but the tips of your knives entering and re-ntering their space behind the lucite. You end up with shavings of wood sitting on the bottom of the lucite cover. And my lucite cover cracked at the juncture where the anchor screw is placed.

Great block for large knives.

I have a large Japanese cleaver and it was way too big to fit in the draw in my other knife block. This one did the trick and looks good on the countertop (even to my wife).

Handsome Kitchen Addition

This knife block is very handsome. The wood grain adds a beautiful depth to our countertop, and it’s slim profile allows us to meet it in a spot we normally wouldn’t be able to use.
