White bookcase
Super easy to assemble, went together perfectly, very smooth pure white. laminate. All shelves fit just right and very easy to adjust. I did buy the bigger, better shelf hardware (very cheap) and now I have put very heavy art books and shelves very stable. I bought two and am buying two more.
Assembles easily using cam locks that work well, but the bookcase relies on a nailed-in cardboard backing to stabilize it. The cardboard is folded for packing purposes, but is so thin and delicate that it split along the fold before I could install it. Cheap stuff. I don't recommend this product.
It's ok
I don't think assembly was super easy. The tiny screw and L bracket gave me a hard time. I spent most of the assembly on just that. The backboard is extremely flimsy and tore in two places with just me laying it on. It's just not a good piece for the backboard. The rest of the assembly was fair. It's not a horrible peace, but it's not in my opinion worth the price. It did hold all of our books and at a glance looks nice.
Buyer Beware!
If you’re planning to purchase this item be aware that’s it’s a 3rd party seller via Walmart (OJ Commerce). This company is horrendous to deal with if you want to return the item (which you most likely will be doing). You cannot return the item at a Walmart store and will have to contact them first. They will make you jump through a bunch of hoops before even considering that a return/refund is valid. When you comply with their requests they will then ignore your calls and emails for a refund. Also be aware that the merchandise they sell are returns that they’ve purchased for pennies on the dollar from other companies, which they then turn around and sell to you at an inflated cost. That should tell you everything you need to know concerning what kind of product you will be receiving from this 3rd party seller. Damaged, missing parts, not even properly packed, is what I received. Save yourself the time and trouble and purchase a product directly from Walmart like the Mainstays bookcase, or do your research on the company/3rd party seller if you still choose to go that route. I wish that I had, my mistake. This 3rd party seller has a lot of complaints. The only good thing out of this was that I contacted Walmart directly and they made it right by refunding me for this item. If you still choose to purchase this item from this 3rd party seller, be prepared and good luck! Less
Won't buy this brand again
I recently purchased the Furrino JAYA Simple Home bookcase because I needed additional storage. I had previously bought two similar bookcases for my classroom from Target several years ago; one was a Room Essentials brand item and the other was Home by Target (which apparently doesn't exist anymore or became something else). Both of those previous bookcases were fairly inexpensive and good quality for the price. I could not find either of those bookcases on the Target website, so I opted for something that looked similar but was more expensive. From the description and the price ($83 with shipping and taxes), I thought I would be getting a decent piece of furniture for my purposes, but I was wrong. First of all, the finish on this bookcase is very fragile. Each component is marked with a letter sticker--which helps with assembly--but when you peel off the sticker afterward, it takes the finish with it. Then you have a sticker-sized blotch where the "manufactured wood" shows through. Also, the "mini fix bolts" are larger than the hole they are supposed to screw into. Getting the bolts to go in straight is challenging, and when I had to unscrew a couple to straighten then out, they took the top edge of the hole with them. The "wood" just crumbled. In addition, the "finish" on one of the shelves is splotchy and looks like it had been handled before it was dry. I was optimistic, and thought that once I had the unit assembled that the whole would be better than its parts. I was wrong. This is not a sturdy bookcase--and if you buy it, you will definitely need to use the wall mounting hardware. Also, the back panel of the bookcase is just a glorified piece of cardboard folded in thirds. Plenty of nails are provided for tacking it on, but because of the insubstantial weight of the cardboard, it would be easy to tear a hole in it if you shelve a book with too much oomph. My head says to take it back to the store for a refund, but I don't feel like disassembling it for the return, so I have decided just to live with it. I won't be buying anything from this brand or their distributor (Noviland) again, though, and I will be very cautious about buying any furniture that I don't see assembled in the store. The descriptions on the website do not adequately capture the quality--or lack thereof--of the actual item. Less
Durability is questionable.
I purchased two 3-shelf bookcases from Furinno. Assembly was easy and only took 20 minutes for both. They are also lightweight, but not very sturdy; the shelves wobble with slight movement. The manufaucter included wall mounting hardware, but the baseboards in my home are thick and therefore, mounting it to the wall would not suffice. Additionally, the cardboard backing is flimsy and ripped as I was unfolding it, making it unusable. I opted to buy Lauan plywood from Lowes to create a better backing.

Looks great and it's a bargain
This a a super bargain at the $37 price (including shipping) I paid. Looks great and will work for the purposes I bought it for - to store some books and organize some (not too heavy) items on the shelves. Yes, you do need to be a little careful attaching the facing at the bottom front to make sure it aligns. Also, be a little careful attaching the cardboard backing - so many little nails - if not centered in the wood, you can cause a splinter on the inside of the cabinet. (I had one but it's barely visible once the cabinet is assembled.) For light use, this bookcase should last years and years.
So these are comparable to the Billy bookcases at IKEA...
So these are comparable to the Billy bookcases at IKEA that literally sell like once every 30 seconds or something crazy like that. In fact, the quality may be slightly better. Because Home Depot’s are ubiquitous in Southern California these bookshelves are easier to acquire— no driving long distances or paying extra delivery fees. 100% satisfied.
Look ok, but will replace soon with better quality shelves.
They fit the small space I had and provide some storage. However, they are very cheaply made--all the way to the cardboard back, without which the shelves have absolutely have no stability. The directions were clear, easy to put together. The description of them was "wood" and they are particle board and cardboard. If you are looking for something to use in a dorm room or similar use, they are ok, but will not last long.
Cute bookshelf...
First, I would like to say that the frame of this bookshelf seems to be made fairly well, and I think it will serve its purpose.A few disappointments:The top shelf was not laminated on both sides, but it seems it should be. The laminate itself is so thin, it is easily damaged. The adhesive on the stickers labeling each piece pulled some of the very thin laminate off upon removal of the label stickers. The pegs that hold the shelves up are made of cheap plastic, so it remains to be seen just how sturdy they are for weighted items. I was originally going to store canned goods on these shelves, but have, instead, moved other items not as heavy onto the shelves, and am moving the canned goods to the other location, out of concern that the plastic pegs wouldn't hold up to the canned goods. The shelving fits the space well, and I believe I will be ordering a second one of these to place in an L shape to this one, which is what I had hoped to do. I may replace the plastic pegs with some metal ones built for holding up shelves, to make it sturdier.11x11 fabric cubes, 2 per shelf, fit great, just stick out over the edge slightly. 12x12 fit too snug for comfort. False advertisement
Shown with a solid back. Nope! Comes as very thin Folded piece of cardboard which leave lines that are very visible. Super unattractive unlike pics online. Impossible to get totally flat and ours even ripped at the seam in 2 places. Read all directions first. Layed each piece out as shown following finished and unfinished sides and unbelievably was put together wrong at the end. Wow. Even cheaper than I could’ve imagined. Returning.
A Low-Quality Bookshelf
I ordered three of these bookcases via the Home Depot website, and they were delivered within a few days. When I began to assemble one of them, I discovered that they were lacking in quality. Specifically, the back panel is made of cardboard. The panel is shipped folded, and, when one tries to attach it to the shelves, the folds begin to tear. Furthermore, the pre-drilled nail holes in the top, bottom, and side shelves are impossible to find when the back panel is overlaid on them. Finally, some of the pre-drilled bolt holes in the shelves are not accurately placed, resulting in a less-than-ideal configuration of the shelves in the final product.I returned the other two unassembled shelves to a Home Depot store for credit. Had I been able to see an assembled unit in a store, I would not have purchased it. Less
Worked for us
We bought this to hold DVD's in the Rec Room of our sorority house, and it ended up working PERFECTLY for what we needed for. However, assembling it turned into an event.Maybe we're just stupid, but we all found the directions to be really unclear. There weren't any pre-drilled holes in one of the pieces, and we actually put it together incorrectly the first time around. At the end of the day, it took a group of 3 fraternity boys around a couple of hours to get it together the right way.Something that I would like to note is that the backboard is actually a piece of cardboard. Non bueno. We made it look a lot better by covering it with a layer of pink contact paper. And instead of meticulously hammering screws to attach the cardboard, i'd suggest using a staple gun. It got the job done a lot quicker! If you're able to, i'd go ahead and splurge to get a higher quality piece. But with the house being on a tight semester budget, this worked for us. Less

I had been looking for similar shelf (white, light, sturdy, easy to assemble, no wider than 25", and of course a favorable price/value ratio) for quite some time. Therefore I was delighted to find the series of Furinno products at Home Depot. I ordered the shelf, and three days later as promised I was notified that it was ready for pickup. There had been no actual samples at the store to view and check out, and I had to open the package as soon as I got home. It was packaged solidly, better than from IKEA or similar suppliers. It was very simple to assemble, just by myself (= senior citizen, f.) in less than an hour. It is perfect. Overall, I felt that more thinking had been applied to the design, manufacture, finishing and packaging compared to similar products by most comparable suppliers. I am very happy with the finished bookcase; it meets or exceeds all my criteria and I definitely recommend it.One small request: it would be awesome if there were single shelves available to add to the bookcase in order to use more of the vertical space -- there is much empty space between the shelves since my items are not very high. Easy to Assemble, Weird Smelling, Cheap Backboard
Aside from being easy to assemble the framework seems pretty solid. The flat backboard is tacky/cheap looking and doesn't lie flat/flush against the back of the frame. You can see the creases from the front. Items on the shelves might obscure this look. Another negative comment is the bookshelf has this weird odor like it was dipped in a vat of incense. I'm sensitive to smells and so I placed the shelf in my garage to air out for 3 days. Hopefully, that will work otherwise this shelf will go in a summer garage sale or in my basement. I hope it's not a total waste of time and money.
Okay
It’s an alright shelf. It says that it’s usually $80 but on sale for $30 which is what I paid. Definitely not worth $80. The backing is made out of cardboard and the shelf isn’t the sturdiest. The smaller little board that’s across the very bottom isn’t even on very well with how it’s setup. So it came off when I was moving it. I put it back on but you definitely can’t put very heavy items in this and make sure you’re super gentle while moving. I did expect a tiny bit better since I was thinking this was an $80 shelf but it’s definitely more of a $30 shelf. Not bad tho since that’s pretty cheap! I added legs to the bottom to amp it up. It’ll do the job.
Good bookcase. I do think that if you have heavy items or many books you should consider a more heavy duty selection. This is plywood painted/styled to look better and nicer than it is. You get what you pay for. The directions say that it will take about 30 minutes and it recommends two people. I put it together alone in about two hours. Not a hard puzzle but definitely takes more than 30 min on your own. For what I needed, it works well My top shelf holds some heavy-ish textbooks and journals, second shelf is perfume and other vanity items, third photo frames, and the bottom two hold two bins of beauty and styling items or office supplies on the bottom. Works well for me and hopefully it will hold up. Overall, I recommend this if you aren’t going to be moving soon (could be difficult to transport safety) and only need it for few light-weighted items. Less
