Absolutely a waste of money
I bought this to hang Christmas garland. It not only will not support garland but it will not support any weight, even just putting it up and having it expanded tight in the area it just falls down. I would give it a negative ten star rating.
Shower rod
Word well on drywall, not as well on a smooth, shiny surface such as a shower stall. One has to apply so much pressure on the rod that the shower stall begins to flex, risking cracking the stall. If the surface had a firm backing, or even a textured surface, it would probably be ok
