I've waited a few months before rating this, to make sure I gave it time to see how well it works, and I am really happy with it. It was easy to install and looks seamless, and it's very easy to use. The one worry I have is about the battery--if it dies then it can't be used without the key. I'd love for there to be some kind of battery level indicator or warning several weeks before it's going to die, so I don't get stuck. But other than that it's great and I'd definitely recommend it. I might get one for another exterior door as well.

We love our new lock handle! Our door is older and we needed to get a Schlage 4" doorset extender part, but once we got that, it was a very simple install. Just a screwdriver and a spare set of hands and voila! Easy to set and program the door code. Just be aware - it automatically locks the outside entrance to the door. There's nothing stopping an adventurous toddler from the inside, from deciding to open the doorknob and think about exploring the world. Thankfully our storm door has a lock he can't undo.

I just installed this today, so I can't speak for battery life or longevity as of yet. I did use the included battery, which is just a regular 9V Duracell, so when that needs replacing I'll install a lithium one instead. The install was quite straight-forward and, aside from a few extra steps, was not really any more difficult than installing a standard door knob. Instructions were simple, though a few of the pictures left me momentarily confused. The lock is easy to program and use and all the features worked as expected. The programmable codes are limited to four digits, which was not an issue for me. It seems pretty well constructed. This door knob was installed on our garage door to stop my dad, who has fairly advanced dementia, from sneaking out of the house. Since people need to be able to use that door from either side, using something like a door guardian lock would not have worked. I installed the door knob backwards, so the keypad is on the inside of the house and it will keep him from entering the garage unsupervised. This method wouldn't work on an exterior door (it only locks on one side), but works fantastic for keeping him out of the garage while still making it easy to bring groceries and such into the house. The auto lock is timed just right and seems to work well. I had no issues disabling the lock while testing everything either. I'd definitely recommend this if you're trying to keep someone with dementia from passing through an interior door.

I purchased this because we've had some crime in our neighborhood and I can no longer leave a door unlocked for my kids who arrive home before I do. It was easy to install and program, and we liked it a lot for three weeks. But the battery has died already and if I hadn't noticed this, my kids would have been locked out of the house until I got home from work. We live in a northern state and if it had been winter, this could have been disastrous. I now have a key hidden outside the house, but what is the purpose of a combination lock if you - even sometimes - need a key to open it? It may have been wiser to spend less on a plain old keyed entry knob. I would pass on this.

My kids kept going into my room for bathroom or to watch TV etc. NOT ANYMORE!! I looked all over to find something that would keep the door locked but, not stop me from entering my room. You will always run into a situation that you're not going to have your keys or phone on you. This was the absolute perfect solution. PLEASE ADD THIS FEATURE: A single use key code! It would be super handy when I'm running late and would like someone without the normal key code to enter. Emergencies etc I had one issue upon receiving the unit as there's a pin that can get dislodged internally. The repair was super quick if it's even necessary. Pretty sure I found the repair instructions on "YT"

This is my second batch of these locks. We use these to provide access to our home for workers and visitors without giving them a key. They're easy to install, look okay - though bulkier than most conventional locks - and seem to be secure. If you have an existing lockset on your door, installation is easy and can be accomplished in under half an hour with nothing more than a screwdriver. During installation, I recommend a small bead of silicone sealant where the outdoor handle meets your door. We had our home power-washed, and it seemed that water was able to infiltrate into the lock and short out the electronics, destroying the unit. I also recommend investing in 9V Lithium batteries. Not only do they last much longer (our first set lasted almost 3 years), they also perform better in the cold. Once installed, the unit is easy to program and to operate, even for younger children. You can have multiple access codes, making it easy to revoke, say, the one workers use without disrupting the code your family uses. Note that there's no network access or logging with this unit, so you're not going to be monitoring who comes and goes using your iPad (though Schlage makes others with this feature). Overall, this is a high quality lock that's worth a look.
