Size matters boys

Big chunks… not like some of the other brands that have a bunch of shwag in the bag. Burns great, with a great smoke texture to the meat.

Excellent Product

After trying several brands, I have been using Kamado Joe Big Block for 3 years now. It is consistent and long lasting.

Big block flop

Was very disappointed, second bag without any big peices. All small lump. Paid a higher cost for regular sized product from other brands.

Waste of money

Complete garbage, supposed to be lumps but it’s all the size of briquettes. Doesn’t burn well or hold heat. Waste of money for an egg, buy jealous devil instead

Not bad but not the best.

I have purchased two bags of Kamado Joe charcoal and I not very impressed by it. It does have very big chunks but I prefer to use the other brand that also comes in a red bag. It just seems to give the food a better taste.

The kamado brand charcoal is amazing. I’ve tested multiple big block charcoals on my smoker and the kamado one is by far the best. It lights fast, stays hot for a long time, and really lets me have multiple cooks with 1 full basket.

Great Coals

I have bought numerous brands of charcoal. I haven’t found any better than the Kamado Joe brand. Even some of the (much) higher priced charcoal doesn’t cook as long or as hot.

Best Value in Hardwood

The large chucks allow me to set up my grill and go fishing for 6 hours without worrying about my fire going out. For shorter burns the chucks last for 6-8 cooks and end up being a ridiculously good value!

Nice large chunks

Good quality charcoal. It doesn’t have rocks in it or tons of small pieces like some other brands.

Best fuel for the grill

I've tried a bunch of different store bought lump hardwood for my big Joe but none of the brands have the giant chunks that work so well with the grill. Having the huge chunks helps so much with the air flow and a consistent burn. Get the best results with the Kamado Joe brand charcoal

Best there is!

Big block was the first brand of lump charcoal I’ve tried. Since then, I’ve tried over 10 different types of charoal and none come even close to the quality of big block. If you’re doing a big cook (brisket, etc) you need to have confidence and this is where it is.

We only use KamadoJoe Big Block XL Lump Charcoal in our ClassicJoe as it lights easily, burns long, and gives great flavor to everything we grill! Mostly big chunks with very little dust makes it clean and easy to load into the grill and it burns a long time at all temperature settings. I highly recommend it!
