Pretty headboard but assembly was a nightmare

Packaged arrived completely open on both ends, luckily nothing was missing. There was a scratch with a chip of wood on the foot of the headboard. The wood slats that were required to be screwed in were completely unfinished wood that gave splinters and still had to be carefully handled with gloves on. That wood was also uneven and did not line up properly with the holes for the screws and the wood on the sideboards. We just pushed and pulled until it fit in the holes and could be screwed down even though it was slanted on some sections on both ends. Since the side boards were two parts, moving the whole frame splits them as well. I purchased this for the nice headboard but the frame is horrible for a cal king bed. I saw one other review saying it came damaged but figured I’d give it a shot since it was the look I wanted. I am keeping it cause it’s a assembled and would be more of a hassle to return.
