There is a white-on-white design that isn’t really visible in the pictures. It’s still beautiful dishware… very light and delicate feeling, but no damage incurred from the normal wear and tear of putting through the dishwasher and then putting away. But I got these thinking I was getting a simple gold circle without a pattern, so that was a little disappointing to realize, because it makes them just a little too fancy for normal daily use. Also, the gold is real gold, so you can’t put them in the microwave.
