[Rewarded Review] The name says it all...
American Standard. My go to for any and all toilets. I'm just waiting for the plumbing to be finished in our bathroom remodel amd this is going right in. This comes with everything you see. Complete minus your choice of a seat. Very high quality as expected. Directions are clear and simple. An easy DIY job. It may take a second person to set the base down but still an easy one person install. If you see the name American Standard, rest assure that you making a good choice.
[Rewarded Review] Powerful Flush
What can I say? It's an American Standard toilet. It is well made. It has a nice neutral color for most bathrooms. It's elongated shape worked perfect for my tiny half bathroom space. The directions and ease of instructions was helpful. The 1.28 GPF has a lot of power. The toilet wasn't as heavy as I thought it would be to lift. The only draw back is that it doesn't come with a toilet seat but you can get an American Standard elongated seat that fits on the Home Depot website.
[Rewarded Review] Easy installation
This is the American Standard elongated toilet. The installation of the toilet was really easy. I installed the bowl without the tank on and made sitting it on the flange on the floor really easy. Bolting on the tank is really easy if you use an extra long and large screwdriver and a socket. I had the whole toilet installed and ready for use within just a little over 30 minutes. The assembly instructions is very easy to use and understandable.
[Rewarded Review] Modern styling. Easy to install. Valve, float, flush lever, etc. pre-installed in tank. Wax ring and seat not included.
This is a basic value-grade 2-piece toilet with no frills. The classic style of this porcelain toilet looks great and looks at home in our traditional style bathroom. The toilet and tank arrived in separate cardboard boxes with each component surrounded by an abundance of impact absorbing environmentally-friendly and recyclable cardboard peanuts to prevent damage. Mounting hardware is included, but a toilet seat, wax ring and supply line are not included. Our existing water line was in good condition, so I opted to reuse it rather than purchase a new one. The only tools required for typical installation are an adjustable wrench and Phillips head screwdriver. Installation instructions are fairly well written and contain clear illustrations that detail each step of the installation process. The valve, float, flush lever, etc. are pre-installed in tank. Minor adjustment of the float was needed to achieve the correct water level in the tank. The toilet is designed for a standard 12-inch rough-in. Having previously installed more than one toilet, I find the installation goes easier if you secure the tank to the base and install the seat before moving the toilet into position and bolting it down to the flange in the floor. The tank is attached to the base with bolts that run through the bottom of the tank. A rubber washer prevents the tank from leaking so be certain to tighten the bolts down enough to prevent leakage, but not so much that you risk cracking the porcelain. The flush lever is plastic with a white finish. In terms of performance, this toilet is a flapper flush toilet and not a canister flush toilet. The majority of the components inside the tank are plastic (including the arm for the flush lever) and aside from the rubber flapper, appear to be proprietary to American Standard. While my preference is for a canister flush, as they tend to require less maintenance over the long-term, the flapper satisfactorily does the job of flushing the toilet and allowing the correct amount of water to enter the bowl. The American Standard Colony toilet is a stylish and functional upgrade for our bathroom, offering improved water efficiency and performance compared to our old toilet. You can’t go wrong with an American Standard toilet at this price point. This toilet looks great, has a strong flush, and has been clog-free since installation.
[Rewarded Review] Great Looking Toilet; Requires decent force to flush, I question the longevity of the flush lever
This toilet looks great and works really well. My wife I think prefers the chair height variant, but TECHNICALLY, the standard height seat is more ergonomic for those more important trips to the throne room. I do think that with the regular American Standard seat I used, you sit a little further down in it, so a different seat might help if you get this in lieu of the chair height option. The toilet came packaged with approximately 1 million cardboard packing "peanuts." Nice to see a more eco friendly packaging, but it did add weight to the overall box compared to traditional packing peanuts, so unsure of the net carbon footprint impact, but it did reduce some plastic in the world.
[Rewarded Review] Stunning and quiet
What a difference versus our 15 year old toilet that this replaced! So much quieter and a more powerful flush, even with less water use. This toilet is the perfect upgrade for your existing 12” rough-in. Also of note, this toilet is a standard height which is very important if you have anything over the back of the toilet, like a towel stand. The new standard is a little taller but I have a fixed-height towel stand so I needed the “old standard”. It also does not include the toilet seat! The last one I purchased had the wax ring and a plastic seat included. Added a wooden seat and I’m as excited to have the bathroom update completed.
[Rewarded Review] Easy to install
The toilet in the basement of this fixer up house was so nasty. It also was so small and had a small round bowl. The kind when you sit on it your knees are against your chest and you need a ladder to get up from it. Once the old toilet was removed, we put down a new gasket seal. The new bowl and bolts played difficult to line up for a bit but they came through in the end. Once the bolts had the main bowl secured, we moved on to the tank. That lined up and installed too easy. I love working with new bolts. The supply line went on next to last and there were no leaks. The last thing is I still need a seat.
bad design of flush tank
Flush tank does not rest on seat rightly and hence lose and wobbly.
This toilet was as expected except when you flush it has a lot of force but uses less water than the old one
toilet
What can I say? Good toilet. No problems so far. Had it installed by a local plumber and it didn’t take him long. Looks sturdy and dependable
