Decent filter, blinking light indicator does not w

I bought this around August. So far it works decently well and I haven't had any major issues with it. My only complaint is that the red light that's supposed to indicate when you need to change the filter does not work at all. I've checked it multiple times, that compartment is kept dry and it does not work. The only time it worked was when I set up the filter. My only other complaint is that the filters are quite pricey.

Stay away from the QuietFlow30!

The QuietFlow30's are defective. I purchased 3 within 7 months and all 3 had the bottom of the filter come flying off during use out of nowhere. It injured my fish. I never had problems with the QuietFlow 20, which I used for many years. The QuietFlow 30 has a design flaw. Do not buy this filter. It will break on you and is dangerous to tank inhabitants.

SO FAR SO GOOD

THIS FILTER CAME WITH THE TANK KIT. SO FAR I HAVENT HAD ANY PROBLEMS. I DIDNT HAVE ANY REPLACEMENT FILTERS SO I HAVE TAKEN IT OUT AND RINSED AND REUSED IT TWICE. IT WORKS GREAT FOR ME. I ONLY HAVE ONE KING BETTA IN THE TANK AND HE ACTUALLY SEEMS TO ENJOY WHEN HE SWIMS IN FRONT OF THE WATER FLOW AND IT PUSHES HIM DOWN. HE WIGGLES AND FLIPS AND GOES RIGHT BACK AND DOES IT AGAIN. I PUT A FEW BABY SNAILS IN TO KEEP THE OTHERS FROM EATING THEM IN MY 29 GALLON TANK...OMG I HAVE SNAILS GALORE!!! I KEEP GIVING THEM AWAY AND THEY JUST KEEP COMING OUT! AS LONG AS MY BETTA DOESNT MIND THEM ITS ALL GOOD. BUT ANYONE THAT HAS SNAILS THAT HAVE RE[PRODUCED NO THEY ARE ... NO OTHER WORD NASTY. BUT SO FASCINATING TO WATCH.

Great HOB Filter for the price

Not sure about all the 1 ratings. These are all I have in my 55, 10''s, and a twenty for 5+ years.

No

I got this a month ago. The first one wouldn't even turn on. I took it back and got another one. Worked great for a week. Then shut off. I took it off and looked it over to find nothing wrong. I cleaned everything and put it back on my tank and now it is just trickling water. Very disappointed. I have to go buy something else now that actually cleans my water.

Horrendous!!!

I would give 0 stars if it was an option. Bought yesterday at Petco, after spending the entire day setting up the tank for my son, plugged it in and it ran for all of 2 minutes before stopping. Had to pull it out and get the impeller going with my finger and then put it back in only to have it stop again after 30 seconds. After much frustration I packed it up and went back to the store (30 minute drive each way) the next day and swapped it out for the same model. Came home put it in, plugged it in, and it came on and ran well.......for 20 minutes, then stopped....again!! Fingered the impeller again and it made banging noises for awhile, then of course........stopped again. Do not buy this, regardless of any sale price.

It's a killer

This thing does not clean the tank. It was killing alllll of my fish. So I removed this filter.... and removed some of the dead fish. Please do not buy this. Aqueon... you guys need to stop selling this. All filter doesn't work. Just do it the old fashion way to clean the Aquarium... Don't get any rocks, because mildrew likes to grow on there. Just sweep the debris up from the bottom with a sponge. That's it.

Disappointing

I like the LED light, but it just constantly clogs itself. I've had to open the thing up and bump the fan 9 times already to keep it working and I literally just got it yesterday. I don't know if I will be keeping it. It seems more of a hassle than a help.

Works Great, Extremely Quiet!

This little filter took me by surprise! It's so quiet that I've actually checked it multiple times to see if it was actually running. It works great and it's extremely quiet! It's small and doesn't take up much space on the back of my aquarium, but it pulls out everything. It's a great filter and a quality brand. I really like that this one has the ammonia filter basket too. Both of the filters for this are easy to find and order as well. And the filter changing LED indicator light is a great feature! Overall this is a really impressive filter all the way around. Highly recommend!

Reliable quiet water pump for 30 gal tank

I've had one for a long time. I like the lifetime warranty. It's worked well, and is relatively low maintenance. I remove the filter and spray it out after 2 weeks, and change it every 4 weeks. Pump doesn't need priming which is great. Maybe semi-annually I clean the impeller inside the motor casing, very easy to do. Makes tank maintenance easy.

Sucked up my fish!

For whatever reason my filter was missing something very important. Over the coarse of a few days my fish were disappearing. I was horrified when I realized the filter had sucked up 3 out of my 4 fish!! I was so sad. Cried for an hour. Why does this not come with some kind of screen. On images of others I see something else that covers it, but my filter did not come with that piece. I ended up cutting a piece of clothing to make a cover until I can get to the store. So Sad and disappointing.

Not enough oxygen into tank

I bought this filter a couple days ago for my 10 gallon tank because my last filter died on me. I have a Beta fish and 6 Neon Tetras. After setting it up, the filter is super quiet, but the current was way too strong for a 10-gallon tank. After a couple days I woke up to one of my tetras dead because it was stuck to the intake of the filter. Later that day, 3 more tetras died and my beta was acting strange. Come to find out, this filter does not break the surface area of the water good enough for getting oxygen into the tank. My fish were suffocating. If you use this filter, I would recommend an air filter to work along side it.

Aqueon Filter

I recently purchased this Aqueon Quite Flow 10 LED Pro filter and am very very satisfied with it's performance to date. It sets up very early and I am coming up on my first filter change of a 5 gallon tank after 3 weeks of use. The "Specialty Filter Pad" that comes with it as a secondary filter system had to be clean after a week and a half. At the suggestion of my friend at Petco in the fish dept. I am changing from the one that came with it to a "Carbon" filter that I purchased at Petco. It is also a very very quite running filter.

Things you need to know -Please Read-

Bought this last year and intake and general filter is very hard to clean if you don't take it out of the tank and pull it apart. I would definitely use a higher flow filter starting at 20 gallons. It works fine with my planted 20 gallon tank with ten very small tetras. The last filtration media before the water goes into the tank needs to be replaced very often-buy a mat of the media and cut two pieces for it to fill the gap so the water is better filtered. Quiet but not silent and the light to change the filter stopped working after one month. Gives a 20 gallon tank low flow in places and high in others and is good for small fish (tetras, rasboras, danios etc.). Good water surface agitation if the water level is high enough, if not a lot of the surface water is still and forms a thin but visible layer of gunk. Takes a while to filter debris when the tank is stirred up.

Bedroom quite

I have bought the QuiteFlow 10 twice. I bought the second one 2.5-3 months after the first. The reason why I waited 2.5-3 months to buy the second one is because I figured if any issues arise it would show its ugly face within that time frame. Fast forward 2.5-3 months later I decided to buy the same filter for the other 10 gallon tank.

Doesn’t live up to its name

If you buy this filter and you feel like it’s noisy, bring it back! Mine sounded like I had a diesel truck idling in my living room. I was told it may take some time to break in, build a slime coat on the impeller, etc, and it will get better. It never did. I ended up losing the receipt and going past the return period. I tried a larger version of the same filter that came with an aquarium kit and it was dead quiet right out of the box so my fist one was clearly a bad unit. The second unit started making noise after two months and I had to stop using it as well. They are both destined for the garbage can. Also, the filter media clogs easily and is difficult to clean, forcing you to buy cartridges and your filter bacterial cycle to start over. I’ll be sticking with the aqua clears. Just as quiet if not quieter, more media, and media is customizable and washable. Don’t bother with the “quietflow”.

Waterfall sound

I bought this to start up a new tank. The filter worked perfectly for clearing up cloudy water associated with adding new substrate and it was clear within an hour or two for my 20g long. After about 4 days the filter got louder with the sound of a water fall. I raised the water line to the black rim of the tank but still sounded like a water fall. I've watched videos of people's DIY tricks to minimize the water fall sound. It looked easy to do and effective however, I returned the product and decided to go with a sponge filter instead of a Hang on Back kind. Many people also say the hum sound of the filter motor quiets down after a week or two once more of the gunk gets trapped/oiled into the filter. The motor sound didn't bother me as much. I think it works well but not ideal for a bedroom unless you add an extra something as seen in other's youtube videos to smooth out the waterfall.

Works great!

I bought this filter for a five gallon tank originally, then two years later put one on either side of a divided ten gallon (it worked fine on both and I probably would have been okay with only one in the ten gallon if it was not divided) .
