Versatile and Powerful

Amazingly Versatile and Powerful. The ability to cook on the inner (small) ring or the outer (large) ring gives this heavy duty cast iron propane burner a wide range of applications. Like just about every other high BTU propane burner on the market it quickly brings large canners or open pots of water up to the boiling point. The big difference with the 2541S from ARC is the ability to reduce the heat input to just an idle on the inner burner ring. If you are pressure canning the smaller easy to control inner burner makes the process much easier to manage. This is a LARGE format burner my 21 quart Presto Pressure Canner is barely large enough to fit on this burner. If you are planning to use this for WOK cooking, which it would be excellent for, make sure you have a very large WOK! Definitely AN OUTDOOR USE ONLY burner. The Four Star rating is due to the fact that I had to remove the the gas manifold and valves from the burner and file off some remaining casting protrusions to allow the dampers to close down far enough to achieve the proper air fuel ratio. It wasn't very difficult but I think it should have been addressed during manufacturing. Even after cleaning up the casting the dampers are a little flimsy and finicky to get adjusted and will get knocked out of adjustment easily. I feel like it could use a better design to control the air fuel mixture. Also, it should have come with the wire rack to allow for smaller pots to be used. Other models of the exact same burner come with a wire rack for the top and a wire stand to bring the burner up off the work surface a little. I recommend you purchase that model. It was out of stock at the time I placed my order. Another issue is that during the first couple firings the paint or powder coating or whatever it is releases a very foul smelling and probably toxic smoke. I have high fired it a few times and still get the stinking smoke. I'm sure it will eventually get completely burnt off.

It seems that it will do the job. I will be using them next year for boiling maple sap season ! I have high hope? But so far they are well design with stainless steel flex tubing and controls . Very satisfied !!
