This thing puts out way more heat than our traditional fireplace did! I love that it's so much less cleanup and maintenance than the wood/fire log burning setup we used before. Our fireplace was a pre-fab unit and had the gas built-in already so it wasn't too difficult to install. The only tough part was having to heat the joint where the starter rod was originally installed with a candle to break it free. Then another trip back to HD to get all the fittings to properly plumb/seal the gas line. I'll echo the tip in the setup manual to move the pan 1-2 inches from the back of the fireplace and do a test light before you put any of the glas/rocks in so you can see where the fire will be centered in your fireplace for best effect. Once you get all the glass piled on it's a pain to move. Also, save $ by using pumice as filler behind and on the sides of the tray insert so you have a nice, even slope of glittering glass.

The insert is cool but it did not come with the glass.
