This turned out great but I did have a few issues building that I should mention to the next guy. The pilot holes all lined up and keeping this square was easy but the pilot holes weren’t properly drilled all the way through the wood so sometimes the breakout on the backside of the hole needed persuasion. I guess if you cleaned all the holes to start with it would solve that problem but add time to the project.

Compliments the small backyard

Last month I purchased the Saxony XL gazebo from Backyard Discovery. Prior to that, I had to make sure this was doable in the space I had, and for one person to assemble the gazebo. Having downloaded the assembly plans was helpful knowing I could build this by myself. I didn’t have much space to work on and had to assemble the roof on the frame instead of assembling the roof on the ground and then lifting it on the frame. I also added corner flashing to the sides on the joists. The wood was sealed- I should’ve and recommend sealing the wood prior to assembly. Some parts were missing, a joist and customer service people were super helpful, and they were even working on the weekends- incredible service.

Buyer beware - pix is bate and switch.

The pix shows a light brown finish. In fact it’s a dark almost black solid opaque walnut stain. Hearts fell when we opened the box. We spent an afternoon with two disk sanders and 100 grit sandpaper removing the finish and applying a cedar wood preservative. Now beautiful color. Could also have used a clear tinted preservative. Would still show the natural wood grain. It’s that time of the year for this - met two other guys at the big box hardware store looking for options for the same BBQ gazebo. They were also duped with the lighter wood color pix and got the almost black finish.

We bought this because we need to get my husbands smoker off the main deck and this design was what we were looking for. It looks great at the end of our pool and the color matches our deck color perfectly.

Nice Grill Gazebo

Put my grill gazebo on order and it came within about a week. A third-party delivery was used and they seemed to get a little confused about when it was to be delivered as I got multiple delivery dates, but it came on the first date. The delivering party sent me a text message when they were on the way. It irritated me a little to have them suggest that tipping was ok. I started working on putting it together as I got time. It is a really good idea to have sawhorses that are about 5 feet long so that you can lay two of the posts on them while assembling the side assemblies. One of the sets of bolts and barrel nuts that are used in the assembly of the posts really require you to get them started correctly in order to be able to get them to go together properly. There was several that caused me to have to start and then restart them over and over to get them to go correctly. They acted like they were cross-threaded. The construction seemed to be very precise which is necessary for everything to stay square during assembly. After I finally got through that portion of the assembly, things went pretty well. I was able to do most of the assembly by myself, but you definitely need someone to help you put the top on when you get to that step. It was not that heavy and my wife was able to help me put the top on, but it is too large to handle by yourself. I found two trim pieces missing for the roof assembly and called Backyard Discovery to request the parts. The person I talked to was very nice and helpful. He got the missing parts sent right out and I had them in about 4-5 days. I have it on my pack porch which is cement. I haven't anchored it yet as I'm going to use it a little while to see where I want it to be positioned. I used my grill once so far since I got the gazebo and while it provides enough room to keep me out of the rain when necessary, it also causes smoke to collect under the gazebo and gets in your face and eyes. I'm thinking about getting a fan to help with that problem. I worked on assembling the gazebo a little bit at a time over a few days. It probably took about 6-8 hours to assemble. It's a little expensive but it's worth the price because it a really good quality product. Overall, I am very happy with the grill gazebo and I would recommend it to others.

Precise fabrication with accurate, detailed installation instructions.

The barbecue gazebo is ab attractive addition to our backyard patio. The gazebo came in two boxes. The assembly is quite lengthy. The parts are well labeled and correspond well with the installation manual. The manual says 3 hours to assemble but that wasn't the case for me. It took about 12 hours but we went slow taking care to double check our work. Three people will be needed for the roof but if you can get a fourth person it will help. Don't skip steps. If you do you may regret it. I must commend Backyard Discovery for the precise layout for the assembly points for this gazebo. Everything lined up precisley which was quite impressive considering all the connections that needed to be made and the nature of wood (contraction, expansion, warping etc.). We were missing poles so we called the manufacturer and they shipped out the missing poles the same day we called. If you are good at putting things together then go for it. For those who may find this challenging I would reccomend hiring someone to put it together. Great product. I would highly recommend it.

Even better than I expected!

Bought the 20’x9.5’ Arcadia Gazebo about a month ago to create an outdoor entertainment area for our family and friends. We live in west Texas, so shade is necessary, but so is strength during our constant high winds in the spring. We have had several days of 60+ Wind gusts since we’ve installed the gazebo, and it holds up perfectly! Delivery was much faster than expected and we installed it ourselves. The instructions were very easy to read and understand! Everyone who has been in our yard has asked us where we got it and 2 even took pictures of the name plate. The space underneath is much larger than I expected and we were even able to make my husband an outdoor kitchen area with the extra space. That has absolutely exceeded our expectations! And now that there is shade outside the south windows I can finally take down the foil on the windows and enjoy the natural light without heating up the house! I can’t recommend this thing enough!!! I’ve also included a before picture.
