Basket sink strainer

The strainer mounted easily into the bottom of the sink BUT when I went to connect the 1-1/2" drain spout to the bottom of the strainer I couldn't get the nut to start onto the treads. There appears to be two issues. The rubber seal that came with the strainer was too thick and there is not enough treads on the nut. The other issue is that the 1-1/2" drain spout won't fit completely over the bottom of the strainer. I had to use plumbers putty to make the seal.

A little challenging, but I made it work

I needed a sink strainer this size for a big utility sink in our laundry room. My local Home Depot didn't carry any so I had to order one offline, sight unseen. A deeper slip joint would have made it much easier to connect the tailpiece to the strainer, but I made it work. No leaks and the satin nickel looks great! Seems to be of good quality.

The chrome plating pealed off the threads of this with the first turn of the brass nut. From the top it looks OK but this product is not high quality.
