This is great! Keeps things significantly cooler. We get over 100* during the summer. This keeps the sun off the cabin wall and the inside just a little cooler.
Good product, good price! No complaints I'm happy!
I am very satisfied and happy with this awning. It's not an easy job for a homeowner to install, but it is a good product at a very good price. What a difference it makes on the sunny side of my house. It keeps the house about 5 degrees cooler inside as well as providing a cool place to sit outside. Obviously it cannot be left up in strong winds and I hope they come up with an add-on modification of a couple of removable poles to put on the two ends of the extended awning to secure it to the ground or a deck rail for additional stabilization.. That could make it a lot more stable and perhaps enable it to be used in moderate wind situations. I'm glad I bought it, I like it a lot, very happy with it. I would recommend it to a friend.
Not easy to install.
Plan on this being an all-day project. This awning is complicated to put together and install for the average person. The parts are not labeled. I was able to find a YouTube instructional video which helped. You will need at least two people to hang this and assemble. The first time I got it up it was back-wards and I had to re-install it. I finally got it up, but the awning is not exactly level. I'm not sure what the issue is. The awning is blocking the sun and my patio is more usable and enjoyable. Time will tell how well it holds up to Montana weather.
great awning for price point
I bought two of these last year for our deck in Montana. They are a great value and are surprisingly nice. Installation is pretty easy, but like others have noted the instructions could be better. Two summers and one winter and they still look new. Would buy them again. One thing, of course they do not do well in high wind. My husband just fashioned some brackets to anchor the awnings to our railing...we will see how this works.
Don't bother
I would give it a zero, if I could. A few "highlights" - prepare for painful, self-taught installation. Then, prepare for a fragile product that will have its arms break at the sign of the first slightly stronger winds. I'd had it for a couple of months until I woke up to a fallen awning. I tried to find replacement arms, unsuccessfully. The solution was to go through the pain of taking it down and dealing with the holes on my house's siding. Hoping I can at least get a partial refund on this waste of time and money.
Provides excellent shade!
Love my new awning! It arrived exactly as shown although it took awhile to assemble. We did it in the garage and then took it outside. I have already recommended it to my sister-in-law! Would recommend spraying it with. UV protectant because it has already started fading. I just didn't think about that when we first got it. Manual crank works easy too.
Be careful!
Easy to assemble, despite the poor English instructions. One warning: the heads of the wedge anchors are the same as a 5/8 anchor (11/16), BUT the anchors themselves are 14mm or some metric size. My first holes were 5/8 as the instructions state, but the anchors were just off. No way did they bite enough to hold this thing up. It pulled out almost immediately. I went to local hardware store and got 5/8 anchors (not metric), and they were tight to hammer in and bit right down. I actually hung on the crosspiece to ensure they'd stay tight (I am 6'2' and 245). This thing isn't going anywhere. Ever. The poor OEM anchors are the reason for the 3-star installation rating.I'm pretty handy, and I could tell right away there was a size disparity.Other than that.....I'm very happy so far!
A Little Disappointed
Instructions are somewhat hard to understand. Definitely takes two people to install this.
