Don’t Buy

Auto shut off is all over the place. The iron will sometimes turn off after just a few seconds of ironing. It’s impossible for me to iron a pants leg without the iron turning off. Next time I’ll spend a little more on an iron.

Classic and Still the Best!

The Black Decker Classic iron works just as good as or maybe even better than some of the newer high priced steam irons. I needed a new iron and was surprised to see it - I didn’t know they still made them. It was by favorite iron until the one I had broke (I dropped it). That was sometime ago and I didn’t even think to check if B D still made the Classic so I switched to a more “modern version”. I’m very happy with this purchase.

Happy Black and Decker Customer

This is one great iron….Now of course it doesn’t last forever but the years that I have had it….Those are some great years… I used it for many years ironing my uniform…(the Memphis, Tennessee Fire Department) I would highly recommend this iron…. I love it

Defective irons

I gave this a one star rating for only one reason. Defective products. I've used this iron for many years. It's a basic old school heavy iron without the bells and whistles. It never leaks, gets really hot, is really heavy and gets out tough wrinkles. My late mother used one like this since I was a little boy as well.

[Rewarded Review] Mcm great idea

I like the features that it has and the unique feel in my hand. I feel like I have more control over the iron.

Good, classic workhouse!

This iron is a classic, it's my second. I only had to replace it because I dropped my other one and broke it. It has good weight and is comfortable to use. Steam features are great. Heats up quickly. A true workhorse of an iron!

History wins!!

Best iron for my money! I am a quilter and go through irons often unfortunately. I have had 2 that were very expensive and they broke in two years. I have had less expensive ones that broke within a year. I want heat, I want weight, and I want it to be made better than plastic. I have all that with this iron and I am happy with it.

This has been an awesome iron. I’ve purchased expensive irons in the past (Rowenta, Chi) and they end up leaking. This iron has worked well for our family. My mom had this iron when I was younger. The only thing I wish I could change is the water reservoir level. You’re adding your water, you keep pouring and suddenly you’ve poured too much. Luckily it’s easy to dump some out.

BEST STEAM IRON ON THE MARKET, PERIOD.

We bought a very similar Black %26 Decker iron 20 years ago. It performed nearly flawlessly. It just recently needed to be replaced. The switch in the handle failed. We loved the comfort %26 common sense placement of the on/off %26 heat setting switch in the upper front of the handle. After it failed after 20 years we looked at new irons %26 were disappointed in the selections available. They were all light weight plastic "toys" compared to this one. This is an iron the way it should be. All the new irons only have a sole plate that only covers 1/2 of the bottom of the iron. What is the purpose of that?. Everything about this iron is intuitive (common sense), you could use it even without reading the user manual, but of course you should.

Love this iron….I had one for years & wore it out! This iron gives the best performance if you are fussy about getting out wrinkles effectively. It’s a basic, sturdy, & easy to use iron. I’ve had others - they shut themselves off….whether you’re ready or not. No thanks. This iron is the only one for fussbudgets like me.

[Rewarded Review] Just like the old irons

This so-called replica is exactly like the old irons. It's heavier than the modern ones, and made of steel, and aluminum, not flimsy plastic. Does the job. I like how it feels in your hand and is just like the ones I used growing up, and I like its familiarity. Glad they brought it back! The other classic I bought from Walmart, when I threw away the plastic one, that I bought lasted me 8 years. If this one lasts 8 years again, it is a bargain. Walmart is the only place that I can find it. I hope they keep carrying it. You don't need the 2-year warranty people, that's a waste of time and money. This will last you!

Not!!

I wanted this iron from using this type from childhood. The water comes out and even when it shows no water it is full. Then moving level for steam it started to break apart so will use my insurance to get another iron. It’s like the iron from childhood

Does the job

I like that it's heavy. It's not flimsy at all. Makes me feel like it gives an added umph to getting the wrinkles out. It has a classic design. What I don't like is that you can't see how much water it has once you've poured into it, the hole is uncovered and subject to leaking, doesn't have a spray option so I have to use my own spray bottle. Also, the metal surface makes it extremely hot to the touch. You can burn yourself if you're not careful.

Disappointed

I have used this iron for several years but my most recent purchase is being returned. I bought two irons to be used for quilting. The first one would not consistently heat. The second one was unsafe to use due to heat buildup in handle.

This iron does not meet my expectations. It does not heat as hot as I need my iron to be. The older models performance is the reason I purchased this one. I am very disappointed so I am using my old iron.

Disappointed!!!!!!

I ordered this iron in August and used it today on a pair of light yellow pants. I put water in the iron, not tap water, and black stuff came out of the iron all over my pants. My purpose in purchasing a new iron was to have a clean plate and not mess up my new clothes. Didn't work!!!!!!!!! To late to return.

Terrible Iron

This iron is horrible! Where the dial is the small handle to move to get to the temperature is really hard to move. Also, the temperature arched plate is off and does not stay in place. I am returning it for a full refund at my local Walmart store. I have an older one and was NOT like this one at all. Why are manufacturer's slacking off in what they sell?

I tried to return it but I didn’t have the box it

Keep the box it came in so they would not accept my request to return it. I am left with a defected iron. I have always purchased this iron and have always been very happy with it. This one is defective. The associate was rude and refused to accept the iron .

Leaves grimy residue with steam

The iron was dirty when it arrived. I cleaned it off and it worked fine. Then I tried steaming. It leaves a dirty residue all over the cloth and the plate of the iron. I have filled the reservoir 3 times and gunk still comes out. It's as if the iron was submerged in dirty water. I didn't save the box. I hope I can return it.

Perfect Iron

This is the third time I've bought this specific iron. I've given away the last two when I had to make long moves. I'm a professional seamstress, so having an excellent iron is part of doing a good job. This is the only iron I've found that I just love. It gets hot enough to give me crisp seams and pleats, even on cotton and wool fabrics, and it's perfect for silk and linen, too.
