Love mine!

This came in clutch last night while doing drone thermal roof inspections in a pitch dark area. It allowed me to find all my gear and work hands free from holding a flashlight. I think I need to upgrade my rechargeable batteries however because my unit was flickering with non Coast branded rechargeable D batteries. But I am in love!

Feeling betrayed

When I got the email from Coast about this product, I was sure that it was a combination deal. The long lasting product with the rechargeable batteries required for it's use. I brought it with me to use on this Memorial day weekend at camp. I opened it up last night to use. Not only were there no rechargeable batteries installed in it, there were no batteries of any kind in it. The deal of nearly 50 % off was completely diminished by my complete inability to use it at all. This has totally changed my opinions of what a great company Coast has been for me in the past. $45.00 or there abouts for a lantern that's completely unusable. Completely dissatisfied with my latest purchase. It was supposed to have USB chargable batteries that were next level superior to any other brand...

Coast Quality in every item I’ve purchased.

I bought 3 of these lanterns and they are still in the box. One will be a birthday gift to our son who camps a lot. The other two will be in my motor home when I restock it after the remodel I’m working on.

Bright light

Got to test this out on a cold rainy night of camping. Nice bright light, and easier to deal with than gas or propane. The rechargeable battery takes forever to charge, so just be aware. I was looking for something smaller for bike packing, but I didn’t really read too much about it before I bought it. It will really be handy for power outages. Overall, I’m glad I bought it and I’ll use it a lot, I’m sure.

Powerful well built lantern with lots to like!

Received a lantern labeled EAL25 as part of a bundle deal I purchased with the ZX1010 rechargeable battery. The lantern is the same as a EAL22 and the ZX1010 is the upgraded newest battery with 4 lights showing the charge progression. Like the low, medium, high white light and red or red emergency blinking choices for situational versatility. Power is either from 3 D cells or the rechargeable Zx1010. Brighter and longer running with Coast rechargeable, and much cheaper to use than alkaline. Suggest buying the battery, USB-C charging

Camp

Very pleased with this lantern. I have other competitor brands and this hands down is brighter and rechargeable battery lasts longer. The brightness with the rechargeable lithium is very noticeable. Lantern feels durable and quality material. Overall very satisfied.

It was on every night for 4 days..

I found this at an empty camp site. At first I thought it was a solar light. There had been young people there the night before, and I thought they left it behind. They never came back. There was a light at the camp site for the following four nights after that. On the fifth day, I discovered the lantern hanging up in a tree next to the trunk. It hid itself well.... The lantern had been on it's lowest setting, glowing day and night. One of the duracells that were in it had started leaking. Some vinegar and a small brush removed the corrosion. This lantern works great. When I get the extra fifty dollars, I am going to buy the rechargable battery for it.

Very Useful Lantern At A Great Price

I like this lantern. I've used it numerous times around my yard during the evening hours. The lantern has three white light brightnesses and two red lights (one is an emergency flashing mode). The lantern can sit upright on its own or be carried by hand or hung by one of two integrated carabiner clips. The lantern hood can be removed and the base inverted to provide a hanging bright area light. This is ideal for lighting up a tent interior. The lantern is relatively lightweight and is storm proof so it can be used in most weather conditions. There is a separately available rechargeable battery pack or you can use three D cells. I liked this so much I bought a second one.

Great light!

I bought 2 of these initially with bundled rechargeable batteries..On my first order, both of the rechargeable batteries would not charge completely. Coast sent me 2 brand new batteries to replace the one's that wouldn't charge. I then bought 2 more, bundled again with the batteries. These things are the best light for general use, and camping use, or when the weather turns cold and you lose power. I really put them to the test after being without power for 32 hours in 7 degree weather. I used each one on low power, and had no problem continuing to use them after the power was back on. Coast gives you a 5 year warranty on these lights which is well worth the money spent. The next time the bundle comes back on sale, I'm gonna buy more and give them as presents to all my camping friends, and to my family.

Fantastic Lantern!

Extremely bright light and very well made. I use this daily to walk my dog and remain visible in my neighborhood and carrying it with the handle over long distances is no problem at all. Having a lantern like this is also a must-have for disaster preparedness as it will easily light up a room on medium for many hours. It also works well for outdoor recreational use as well. I recommend getting the rechargeable lithium-ion battery for this. With the high cost of alkaline D batteries, it is a great value for money. Own and use several coast lighting products and they are all a fantastic value for the money spent because they hold well over time.

Worth every cent in a power outage

Bought this in case of a power outage, liked the settings, LOVED the highest setting - (a warmer light than the lower settings) an incredibly strong, powerful light that is as good in a small room as electrical light, loved the lantern style that enables you to carry it and hang it. Recently, during a big windstorm, as soon as the lights flickered, I took this out and had it ready. Not 5 minutes later, our entire building had lost all power and my apartment was pitch black. Not knowing how long the power would be out, I kept it on the lowest setting. It was a lifesaver! I could take it from room to room easily and didn't have to worry about falling or tripping over something in the dark. The power was out for over 7 hours. This product is worth every cent!

Overall it's an okay lantern.

Pros: Main light is definitely bright and really lights up a campsite or living room. I like the built in carabineers for hanging. On dimmest setting it'll still light up a room enough to walk around without tripping over stuff. Box it comes in is strong and makes a good storage case. Cons: The slightest tap or bump will make the light briefly cut out or blink, otherwise gives off a bright steady light. Also, I'm not sure the treads on the diffuser would hold up long if you frequently took it off and on. As others have stated in their reviews yes the red light is dim. Overall for the money, I'd recommend it. Brightest setting it advertises battery life at 7 1/2 hours, medium 15 hours, dimmest setting up to 225 hours.

Power Outage Lantern

I got this lantern after looking at many other alternatives at other retail sites. The dual power option is what finally did it for me. It is very bright at the highest setting almost too bright, but thankfully it has two lower settings. I ultimately went with this option because it can use 3 D cell batteries or their lithium ion battery pack. If push came to shove and the battery pack died or i used the battery pack up by charging my cell phone, I could still use the lantern on regular batteries if power is out for an extended amount of time.

Extremely convenient

I’ve had this for almost a month now. I use it at work as a plumber. I elected to buy the rechargeable batteries. Since I first charged my battery, I have not needed to charge it again yet. I’ve used it maybe 10-11 times for over an hour each time on various levels of brightness, with and without the diffuser, in multiple positions and environments including inside ceilings (dust), under sinks (water), in basements filled with sewage (yuck).

EAL22 used a little differently

I bought this lantern because it can do a lot of things for me. This last year has taught us all that global warming is happening and it is producing a lot more storms that sometimes are bigger. Storms like this means you lose power. Big storms mean you need light for a longer time. This lantern provides that in spades with 225 hours of usable light output.

They really are that good.

So I've been a coast fan for years, I believe my first lite was a pdx. I was a trucker for 35 years and was always in the market for a better flashlight. My wife brought one home for a christmas present. I've probably got every model they make a few times over now. The small simple design was such a blessing unloading or throwing chains in the winter. Pre tripping was just so much netter at night with the power and dependability of these fit in your pocket lites. I began buying these as christmas presents for friends and family. They have become a cherished companions. When you need lite they are always dependable. The big heavy days of mag lites were over years ago for me. I am now trying out their rechargable lines and fell in love with a 400r. It was becoming a favorite . The charging was long lasting and it was super light. But i couldn't finish running it through its paces as i lost it up at indian henry csmpgrounds. Went back twice to try and find it but some lucky bum got a real fine flashlite. As coast comes out with the new products I try em and then decide which ones are next on santas list. I have 12 granbabies and they all love playing with these flashlites. Not one of them have ever succumbed to the abuse that kids put em thru. These lantern lites are beautifully designed and super bright. They have low ,med, high and red steady and flashing mode. I like the red for night time camping and of course the flashing will be handy in the case of an accident ect. I cant swear for their durability yet , its too soon but ill know first vamp trip with the kids. We might use them on the kayaks for visibility. These products will surely meet the high bar that coast is famous for. I live in sandy oregon and am lucky that I can drop by their facility . The people are great, warm and helpful. They stand absolutely behind their products. If your a first time buyer, I say go for it ,you won't regret it. Makes shopping for christmas easy too. But let me warn ya , you'll want more then one. They really are that good.
