I have an Alera office chair for my job and decided to try another one when I needed to replace the chair that I use for my personal PC. I didn't need anything super expensive, but wanted to buy something nice enough to be comfortable and last awhile. This is probably a decent choice. It wasn't too bad to put together and I've had virtually no problems with it. I was concerned about reading some of the reviews of this about the chair suddenly losing its height and coming to a crashing descent, but that has only happened less than five times in about a year, so as far as I can tell that's not a major issue for me. It's definitely ergonomic, probably moreso than I'm used to. And it's just slightly narrower than I'd like, but it's still pretty comfortable. I'll likely use it until it falls apart, which is hopefully not anytime soon. There may be a lot of other options at this price for equal or better chairs, but this one works for me.
5 Star
Pros: Very comfortable to me. The padding is very soft.
I have tried 4 different chairs, finally this is the ONE! Nice support in the back and the seat is just right.
Awful chair - If you like laying back in a chair while you work this chairs for you. If you are tall and like the chair to come up high to sit comfortably forget it!! I would never order this chair again.
Good quality. A little narrow
excellent chair
This office chair is SO VERY VERY COMFORTABLE that for a moment I was thinking about leaving it in the living room to watch television in! But I relented and put the chair in my office. Now I can spend more time at my desk - like sitting on a cloud!

I have owned and used several different office / computer chairs of this general type (with armrests) and a couple without. This is by far the most comfortable, that I have EVER owned. I have sat in it for long hours at the computer and worked, played, watched videos, or even slept. Assembly is not difficult, not does it take a long time, though it can be a little awkward. I am of average height (5'91/2"), but heavy; at 300 lbs, plus/minus. If there is ONE thing I have learned, and this chair was the last straw, NEVER again buy a chair that does not have a metal base. Eventually, the socket holding the casters will weaken with fatigue from long use by a heavy person and the casters will break out of their sockets. It is very difficult to use a chair with even one of 5 casters missing. This cannot be repaired and the base must then be replaced. I have researched replacement bases and the least expensive one from Home Essentials Direct is at $40, rounded off, with another good one at $50, so I can add that to the ultimate total price. But the gas lift piston that is included with the chair does not fit a standard base (2" hole) so it is necessary to add/replace the piston also, another $50+ at Home Essentials Direct. Then I encounter the next problem. The old piston has become so firmly pressed into the socket of the seat mechanism that it is proving difficult to remove, so that a replacement piston/cylinder can be employed. The net result is a total price tag in the vicinity of $100 higher and a fair amount of wasted time and a lot of frustration. So, over all, I give the chair a thumbs-down. The neutral rating is a concession to the very significant comfort factor. A final note. It took less than a year for the plastic/nylon (whatever) base to fail. My suggestion is: Buy a quality chair (which this should be) with a heavy-duty METAL base, unless you are a light-weight, not over about 200 pounds.
