Gate came in wooden crate. Everything was perfect, no damage. Gate very heavy so it does take two to move. Delivery guy extremely nice. It looks beautiful in front of my house. It is hanging on brick pillars. Instructions Deaver a lot to be desired. Not helpful at all. They need to include the hardware for latch and drop bolts vs having to guess what to order/use.

The gate is stunning. It is extremely well built and stable. The installation was simple but you need to be careful with your measurements to ensure proper alignment. We installed this gate to section off our airstream in our backyard. It more than meets our expectations of function and beauty.

My wife and I are very happy with this gate. We replaced an old Bohlen's farm gate at the top of our driveway. I installed it myself and didn't have any problems. It just takes time and patience to get everything plumb and level. A contractor grade laser level helps a ton. Each gate panel is quite heavy, it's useful to have an extra set of hands when installing them. The overall quality of the gate, posts, and finish exceeded expectations.

These gates are well built. Shipping was very fast with great communication. I even installed it myself and all went well. I’d highly recommend this product.

Gate is nice enough for the price, one upright in the gate came with a bend in it. Not bad just bent a little. Not real happy with the gap between gates, following directions of the post placement leaves a bigger gap than I would have liked but with a bigger latch it is fine. Overall I am happy with the gate.

Hardware for gate missing. Too much red tape getting company to send hardware! Causing having to reschedule contractor while we await hardware. Very disappointed !!!

Pretty but mine had issues with rust and warping

Really pretty gate but mine started rusting after being up only a week or so and it's warped so it doesn't line up right. It's a huge gate to receive, install, and THEN find out it's messed up. Customer service did work with me on the rust issue though. I recently contacted them again about the warping so we'll see. They offered to send a replacement for the rust issue but I worked soo hard installing it...not like it'd be easy to swap it out. Maybe i just got a bad one.

Delivery Issues

The gates are beautiful! The gates are too heavy and too big for residential delivered by a delivery truck with a lift gate. The packaging material was insufficient for the size (9’ x 7’ x 6”) and weight (400 lbs) of the crate. At least 4 people are needed to get the crate on to the lift gate. Garage Department was very professional and gracious, at helping me deal with this problem. Because of their customer service, I recommend them, and plan to make other purchases with them.

Came in damaged

Gate came in with one of the bar bent. They refused to help cause they said that it was signed for as “good condition”. Please be aware that the 3rd party vendor they use to deliver this gate is sneaky and they will hide the damage area. In my case, that’s exactly what happened. This was a 600 lbs delivery heavy big crate and the small damage was hidden underneath the pallet Jack where I can not physically see. When I remove the gate from the wood crate is only when I was able to see the damage. But since I sign for it…. They refused to help. I gave two stars instead of one because they did offer me $500 after I have to negotiate from their original offer of $200. But $500 is nothing and I rather have the gate fixed. Who wants a bent gate hanging in their driveway. I have to look for a repair man to come fix it for me since the company won’t help. Just be careful folks and inspect before you sign.

Only gave 3 stars because we never actually saw it. The "Home Experts" HD had call us wouldn't install it! They were quick to offer to sell us fencing, but wouldn't install the gate. Very disappointed.

The gate is beautiful and installation was easy. It arrived as scheduled and only took about an hour to complete. I’m pleased with the purchase and will recommend it to others. The only less than positive comment I have is that the ground rod and gate latch wasn’t included. The cost was low but I think I should’ve been advised of it when I placed the order.

Great Expereince!

I have done a lot of online shopping but have never ordered an item as big or as expensive as a double swing driveway gate. I learned that the big box stores don't stock driveway gates and the cost of purchasing one locally was just way too expensive, as the fence companies want to "custom build" a gate. In doing my research I discovered Garage Department. Their price for the 12' double swing driveway gate I ordered was better than anyone else on the net. Combine that with free shipping (truck shipping at that) and no tax, this purchase was a no-brainer. The only variables were how long it would take for the gate to arrive and what kind of shape would it be in upon arrival. Well, I was not disappointed! The gate was delivered halfway across the country in less than two weeks and it was in great shape when it got here. In fact, the care taken to build plywood boxes around the gate and posts to protect them in shipping was impressive. Inside the boxes the gate/posts were liberally wrapped in bubble/Styrofoam wrap and very well protected. Very pleased all the way around with the service provided by Garage Department. Now if they would just come and install the gate for me!
