It's more of a piece to look at. Has that old flair look to it. To it's credit it's very long. You can lay down with ease. It's not soft and even while firm, it doesn't have a complete upper back portion to hold you up well enough.

The chair is simply beautiful. It's well made, elegant, and the velvet ivory color is gorgeous. the velvet is very soft. The chair is wide and deep, great for relaxing with a book. I highly recommend.
