Looks great, not functional

I loved the way it looked - simple but pretty. However, when both doors are open, it falls over so I had to return it.

We love the look fit and function of our new fire place screen. I did modify the feet to get the screen to set against the fire place and then I anchored the top to keep it from tipping when opening it.

The basic design of the screen is nice, with a good arch and a front that is not too busy. Unfortunately, the quality control is slightly sub-par, and in our case the left door is not hung straight. As a result, when closed it rubs against the top frame slightly. This may only affect a few people, as I’m guessing some units are probably fine. The larger design flaw is that the feet do not extend nearly far enough in the front to support the weight of the doors when they are open. The weight of just one door open is enough to make the whole screen unstable. Once you open both doors the screen will immediately fall forward. I solved this by tying fishing line to the top frame and looping it around a hook embedded in our brick fireplace. The fishing line is essentially unnoticeable, especially once a few feet away. However, this really shouldn’t need to be done. Unfortunately, fixing this would probably require the feet to extend forward quite significantly, which would probably look bad and completely disproportional.

Looks nice. Were hoping the feet were adjustable so that it would rest flush against the brick. It does stick out a few inches, but it still works for us.

Bad design. The screen sits 3 inches away from the fireplace bricks, when the doors are closed it looks good, but while in use with a door open the whole screen falls forward. I have to use the door to keep itself from falling foward. When using the fireplace the handles get very hot to the touch. The magnet doors get stuck closed and I am unable to place another log in the fire. This screen would be much better suited in front of a gas fireplace or just for show and not actually for use.

The 2 feet on this screen extend ~3” behind the screen. Insufficient product description and images. I was looking for something that fit flush against our fireplace.Be warned it will not for flush against a fireplace unless your fireplace opening is 39”.

Junk. Don't buy.

I ordered this fireplace screen as a Christmas present for my daughter to use in her new house. She was supposed to move in in March but there were construction delays and didn't get to move in until April 1st. When we opened the package we found that the screen had a major manufacturing flaw. I called HD and explained the situation and a case was opened. A week later I received an email explaining that I had missed the warranty window by two weeks and nothing would be done. Now I'm stuck with a $115 piece of scrap metal. I usually shop at HD at least three times a week and have spent a lot of money there. But I don't have to shop there. The Lowes across the street will be getting my business from now on. Don't waste your money!
