Great tent, well worth it.
Overall great tent for the money, lots of space. Only gave 4 stars due to minimal coverage over door when it rains. (We just placed canopy over and above it some and works great.) Extremely easy to assemble, 1 adult and 1 child assembled first time in the dark in less than 15 minutes. Now 5 min tops and then just staking it in.
An all around great tent!
I absolutely adore this tent so far! It's incredibly spacious. My 6'5" partner can stand and get dressed without issues. I didn't think I'd like the closet but it's turned out to be super helpful to store all the little sacks and things the sleeping bags come in. The little shelving unit in the closet is great for small items as well. The fact that you can have one large room or two smaller ones is also quite nice. We've got a queen and a twin air mattress in there with plenty of room, there'd still be room if it was two queens! The door is nice though the Velcro alignment could be a little better. It withstood a light rain. If you find your tent falling over, make sure your guy lines are staked out properly! At the time of this review, the tent is listed at $350 on the official website. I paid half that at Wal-Mart. I am not sure I would have paid the $350 but I try to be thrifty.
One heck of a tent!
This was the first tent I've purchased new, and I couldn't be happier with it. We used it for 3 nights and it was excellent. So much room and the closet fit all of our clothes (2 adults 1 toddler). Set up and take down were fairly easy. 10 out of 10 would definitely recommend this tent!
Pros:
HUGE!!!
This thing is HUGE!! Definitely fit a family and then some. Tent you could stand inside. Built in closet is a nice bonus. It’s not as Fast Pitch as advertised but fairly easy to put together once you get a hang of it. The hard case/storage with wheels helps a lot when storing or rolling it around. Has a room divider that I’m not sure how useful it is. Overall…I love it! Especially when it was on sale at Walmart.
great tent, i set it up by myself in 15 minutes. i am 5'10" tall and can stand up with plenty of head room. it withstood slight wind, but I would recommend tying it off if it was windy. the polls are very strong. the coset is nice, my dog claimed it for his sleeping area. Coleman is my favorite camping supplier, and i am an avid camper and would recommend this tent for anyone who is looking for a great tent with lots of room. I can't wait to use it again next weekend.
Rain guard to short
I bought this back in April and we ended up giving it to our daughter and her family. She said that they set it up right but before she knew it she was getting wet in the storm they had. She said that the rain guard was to short so the inside of the tent ended up wet and so did the little ones.
poor quality
the tent broke on the black bracket that holdes the pole on, it was on our second day of set up. it also leaked when it rained. My partner had to put zip ties to fasten it back together to make due because we were on a road trip from California to Montana, Wyoming, and Alberta Canada. We also had to use an additional tarp for the top to stay dry.
Love it
Purchased for family camping trips with cub scouts. We have used in 30° and in 95°, pouring rain and decent winds. Common sense is necessary like with anything. We place a tarp down then the tent over it. We take an extra tarp for my peace of mind. The worst rain storm in March (cold) we did eventually put the tarp over top for extra comfort from cold but this tent kept us dry through and through. We love the closet for universal purposes. I would recommend extra ties for the door when moving in or out during set up/ pack up. Money well spent providing quality time with family without anxiety of tent issues. There are typically 4 of us so this gives some space but I would not go any smaller in sizes. With windows zipped down, airflow is surprisingly good. Highly recommend for a small family but we take a lot so we need lots of space for extra scout activities.
Good for rain, bad for wind
We used this tent for a weeklong family camping trip. It's big enough to fit all 9 of us and did a great job keeping the rain out, but a terrible job holding up to the wind. 10-15mph sustained, gusts up to 30, and one of the aluminum closet poles folded and 2 of the fiberglass poles shattered.
broke immediately
it is waterproof but any small wind will make the poles fall down or snap. mine came with a hole in it anyways and I was going to sew it up but then the poles snapped and ripped into the tent. It was just a light wind too. I missed the return window so I lost money for no reason.
Perfect for camping
I love the easy set up and features this tent has. Its the only tent ive seen that has a hinged door!! I love the closet space. Only complaint is that you def need a heavy duty tarp underneath it, our first camping trip with it and it got a hold in the bottom of it bc of a tree root, we had a cheap tarp under it and it went through that too. So def get a thick heavy duty tarp. We have camped in storms with this tent and no leaks or anything!
Great tent, easy to put up and take down
This is a great tent. The only downside is I think the top tarp could have been a little bigger to cover during high level inds and rain. It is a sturdy tent, easy to put up by myself, I am 5’9” but imagine someone much shorter may have a harder time.
Amazing tent
The tent was easy and quick to put up for two people. It was also able withstand a rainstorm where the tent was in a pool of 2-3 inches of water. We did use heavy duty stake on the four corners however. The stakes the tent come with don’t work well in rocky soil but the tent did amazing at keeping all the rain and pooling water out. It was also spacious. My family loves it and can’t wait to go camping again.
very nice
very nice tent, live the huge windows, D style door, the closet is great to keep stuff out of the floor. it's perfect for myself and 3 dogs, 2 of which are created at night so works be perfect for family of 5 I'd say. i use a queen size double air bed and we have plenty of room. arms pretty solid haven't encountered any drastic weather yet but seems solid if it's done correct. great air flow even with windows zipped up. love the zippers they actually fully zip the way intended and can't beat the tub floor. very excited about purchase and look forward for long use!!! Avid camper!!!
Great tent!
We went camping for the total eclipse. We got rained on and the tent had no leakage at all. It was somewhat easy to put up, but it would help to help better directions. I love the closet to put out clothes and supplies in. It has plenty of windows to allow great ventilation. We love our new tent!
Amazing Tent
It's pretty easy to set up once you read the instructions. I highly recommend getting a tarp/footprint for any tent to help the longevity of your tent. I found that if you didn't properly use the guy lines, this tent has trouble with wind. But if you do the guy lines properly there's basically no issues. It withstood rain without too much trouble as well. The little closet seems a little extra but it was nice to have a place to chuck your shoes and jackets and such. It's a very roomy tent, fit my 6'5" buddy without much hassle. I still recommend a little extra waterproofing and seam sealing but I would do that for most any tent. It IS a little heavy, definitely not a tent for backpacking, more for car camping. And getting it back into the bag after the first set up is... a trial.
Great Tent
In our early 70's the kids think we're nuts but being retired and couped up in the house is not my idea of living. So we decided to make the most of our summer and go camping. Sounds easy but there are a lot of decisions to be made before venturing out into the wilderness. One of our best decision was the purchase of the Tenaya Lake 8 person tent. Set up was easy and provides us with plenty of room for ourselves and Cody our 3 year old Rat Terrier. It also has something I've never seen in an inexpensive tent before. A Closet! If you looking for an affordable way to go glamping this is it.
Common eight person tent quick, set up,
It's not a very good tent, even installing. The Poles, it still flops all over the place. It's not a quick set up. As it says.
Great tent, super roomy!
My sister and I decided we wanted to go camping in the Texas Hill Country for a few days. Something we hadn’t done since our teens with our parents. I ordered the tent on the Walmart app and once it was delivered a few days later we practiced putting it up at her house and it was easy to do. So when we arrived at Guadalupe River State Park the tent was up and staked in 20-30 minutes. We had two twin air mattresses with sleeping bags on top and put one on each side of the tent. That left us plenty of room in the middle. We actually used the closet as space for foldaway portable toilet for those late night needs. One night it rained a lot with strong winds, but the tent held up perfectly. It didn’t shake and there were no leaks. We brought our portable camping chairs inside and used our ice chest as our dinner table until the rain stopped. Taking it down was a cinch. I will admit we put it away in a storage bin we bought elsewhere and not the carrying case. My only negative about the tent is that one side window is missing the zipper. I used dental floss and a paper clip to tie the corner in place. I don’t believe the tent could hold 8 people comfortably, but I will say it can easily hold a family with children. You could fit two queen mattresses and still have room. We’re already planning our next camping trip next fall when the weather is cooler. If two women in their 60s can put this tent together it should be even easier for a young family. I hope you have fun because we certainly did.
