Hard to Clean

I bought this to replace my cats' old plastic water fountain. I used to have the green one with the flower by CatIt. That one was much easier to clean because you could remove the part on the fountain that was covering the wire. On this fountain, you cannot do that. Instead, you have to thread the wire through a small opening and risk getting the USB wet. This is a potential hazard. If I knew it was this difficult to clean, I wouldn't have purchased it.

Good when it works

I've had this fountain for a while. It worked really well and the cats loved it for about a year. It did have some algae growth but I took care of that by cleaning it really really thoroughly very often. Haven't had that issue with other fountains. About a year in the pump stopped working. So I ordered a new one in July. That pump stopped working 3 days ago, only 2 months after I bought it. So frustrated. I'm going to get a different brand now. I recommend you do too.

Amazing, for 12 months at least...

My two cats LOVED this fountain. I liked the design, the red light to show it was running low on water, and the quietness. But, it's now just over 12 months old and it's stopped working. :-( Reading reviews of this fountain across this website and Amazon, it seems to be hit or miss - for some people it works for a long time, while others only get 6 months or less before it stops working. Am assuming it's either a manufacturing or quality control problem. A real shame.

Quiet, but pumps are hot garbage

The overall design is great - it's quiet, holds a decent amount of water, and most importantly, the cats like to drink from it.

Love-Hate Relationship

LOL! This cat fountain is like a toxic co-dependent relationship...you know it's not any good, but you keep trying to make it work.

I know but

The Pixi Smart Water fountain gets not so great reviews but to be frank this is the best one out there! Yes the pump goes out after a year and my first purchase after getting the pump replaced the piece inside the fountain attached to the electrical part became loose and lost the connection. Yes I was not happy since I had it for only a year but Thank You Chewy I was able to purchase another at a much lower cost. It is THE most quiet fountain I have used. I have two Petsafe fountains now collecting dust. I would recommend this fountain but just be prepared regarding the pump.

I wanted to love it

Fountains are a must on a multi cat house. This one looked so cute & I liked the idea of having the light to indicate when it needed water. However, the light is one color & brightness which cannot be dimmed or turned off. This was not ideal since it was in our bedroom. SO MANY nooks and crannies for mold/bacteria to build up & the filters lasted 2 weeks at best. I was having to dissemble & wash it constantly because the filter wouldn’t catch any hair, it would get clogged in the motor. I fought the good fight for 6 months & then threw it away.

i like its appearance so i bought it at its price though it seemed too expensive but i was hoping my cats will be entice and consequently learn how to drink. First problem, the spout is a bit loose, i had to watch them because they were able to take it off. i found it under the bed with them and i was horrified, they could have swallowed it. so it's like a off and on thing, i kept putting it back and pushing it down, until one day it just stopped working! For its price, it's price, it's not worth it. And it's not even a month since i bought it for them. And you should be careful, always check when they are drinking or coming near it, it could come off as they drink in the spout. it could be a disaster.

Purrfect Purchase

My aging cat was never good at drinking water. At this late stage, I decided to try a fountain-type bowl. I chose this product not just because of the cute factor but because it seemed to be well made; I liked the stainless steel plate idea; and I valued reviews. The bowl arrived quickly and we assembled it right away. We can't believe how quiet this system is. And, I discovered you CAN teach an old cat new tricks. After two days of checking out this new gadget, I was "allowed" to remove her former water bowl. She likes to drink near the spout AND from the shallow moving pond (photo included). Her nose no longer gets in the way of drinking and she truly appears more comfortable using this water source. Although we only have this product for a short time and I can't address its longevity, I truly wish I had purchased this drinking fountain sooner. And although we cat owners can never tell how a fussy cat will respond to something new, THIS fussy cat said yes to the new bowl in her world.

Cats Love Their Drinking Fountain

Both cats love the fountain and drink much more water. The flow is similar to a "people" water fountain. The cats can tell and like it when the water and filter are changed, so I do it every week. The filters are a little expensive so we buy generic ones that are the same size and style.

Fantastic Product (and our cat agrees)

We got the Pixie Fountain about a year ago. It's wonderful and is liked so much by our cat who drinks from the running fountain, to the extent that, when she is at another house, she looks at the ordinary bowl and gives us the look of "what the h**l is this about? I want my fountain back". We really need to work on her language.

kitty puddles solved!

I have 5 cats and each with their own quirks and personalities, of course. The most irritatiating is my cat Elvis that no matter the water fountain, he would paw the water onto the floor and drink the water off the floor. And I mean alot of water on the floor. I could never understand his reasoning, until one day I noticed the sucking sound as he drank the water on the floor. This fountain has the elevated drinking reservoir which imitates this water puddle depth that Elvis just insists on having to drink.NO MORE PUDDLES ON THE FLOOR!!! I have no idea if I am the only cat parent with such a quirky cat or not, but this fountain is a God send, I no longer wipe up water three or four times a day!! I am a happy cat lover for sure! I am buying a second one for the other side of the house.

Questionable quality

It looks great to human (even me) but the design and quality are questionable. 1) The spout is poorly designed, since young one of my two cats pounded it (well, gently). It fell off and I put it on (if luckily I could find it) several times until it got lost. 2) Second, the pump didn't last long, only after a few months. 3) The red light flashes stopped working when water ran low within that time frame and I kept checking it manually. 4) The cable is too short that the fountain stands on the floor against the cabinet wall and the nearest outlet is near the edge of wall just above counter, pretty short length. Despite that all, filters were changed regularly and along that cleaned. I'm looking into buying a different brand now.

Mold City!

This fountain is great for noise and waterflow, and my cat absolutely loves it! It is so hard to clean though. It grows that pink water mold within 2-3 days, and gets slimey after a single day. For the most part it's easy to clean, but there are lots of little ridges that grow mold that can only be cleaned with a straw cleaner. As for the pump, parts of it are impossible to clean and the only option is to replace the whole pump which is about the same price as purchasing an entirely new fountain. The pump comes apart (three removable pieces) , but there are holes and crevices that even a tiny straw cleaner can't get to and it can't be put in the dishwasher. You would need a set of professional dental tools to even attempt to clean those parts. I spend 20-30 min cleaning it every few days and I still can't get all the mold out. I am worried for my cat's health and am considering a new fountain even though he loves it.

Really a nice Fountain

I have had a couple of different fountains and this is welcome addition! First and foremost all the cats like it, as it offers both the faucet drinkers and the pond drinkers an option. I like it because it captures 99% of the debris right on top of the filter instead of sitting in the water. It is easy to see how full it is and top it off. The inside is all white without a lot of obstacles so it's easy to see what needs to be cleaned and wiped out. It holds a large amount of water and sits firmly on the floor. The only suggestions for improvement would be to offer the top in stainless and the little "faucet" or arm that distributes the water seems a little dainty and can fall out with vigorous drinking, so perhaps it would be perfect with a slightly larger, higher curveture and also a snugger fit.
