Okay if you're just using the pan and walls...

The one-star review is for the entire kit we purchased because the walls are useless. Our plumber said he would not take responsibility for installing them. They are very flimsy and cannot just be glued up to the wall. We would have just kept the pan and doors and tiled the backing, but it was all in a kit. So we had to return it, which was a huge pain. If you are purchasing this shower, I recommend buying the pan and door separately if you can and tiling.

No nailing flange makes this a weird shower

With no flange there is a challenge installing this. It needs blocking outside of the drywall to secure the walls and doors. The door hardware comes with 2” screws. Drywall, walls, and door frame thickness equals 2”… the screws don’t bite into anything structure. Instructions say nothing about how to secure the flimsy walls. It’s in and now I wait for it to leak. DO NOT BUY

Straight up common sense instructions along with a little bit of know how and patience. To take the time put the bat backing where needed ,it needs more bats backing and shimming than was spect in the instructions. Other than taking it in and out multiple times to get the backing bats properly shimmed. Once of course that is done making it plumb and level and shimming it properly ,then it will go together like butter very easy to build !!!! I'm 65 years old I did it all by myself it took me two days because I took my time and did it properly with limited know how and construction tools . The door shuts perfectly the walls aren't flimsy it does not leak it is very sturdy and I only paid $850 for it with all my discounts and coupons etc ..

Avoid the Acrylic Walls

The shower itself looks great; I especially love the sliding doors and the round shape. But I’ve taken one star off for the flimsy acrylic walls our kit came with, and another star off for OVE’s poor customer service. We ended up tiling instead because the acrylic walls didn’t fit into the space. I tried to contact OVE through phone and email with a question about the walls and couldn’t get through. They never responded to my email ticket and it’s been over a month.

Exactly what we dreamed

When we imagined building our own bathroom, we could only dream that it would come out the way it did. We knew the shower was the centerpiece so it had to be perfect. The installation was easy and there were plenty of Youtube videos out there to supplement the manual. We were worried there would be missing pieces or broken or damaged material since its such a large delivery with glass and all.. but nothing was missing or damaged. Its been about 5 months and everything is still functioning perfectly. Great product, highly recommended.

Good door set, but use different walls!

Followed the directions to the letter and found the doors work great but the walls weren't worth installing.

The product is fine but the instructions are bad

The only I said I wouldn't recommend this to a friend is the instructions the bad video and no labeling of parts.

I bought the kit...Base, Walls Glass Enclosure. The Base is nice and sturdy with the cement underneath, But the paper installation instructions differ from the online video. The video method is worked better. The shower walls are very flimsy and don't fit well, had to build a frame top and bottom beside the side boards to fit the shower wall onto for more support. The Glass and Chrome enclosure are a challenge to put together, The frame wall mounts attach easily to the wall on each end. Mount the glass door and adjust the chrome frame to remove any gap when the door is closed before screwing the chrome frame to the wall mount. Looks great when completed, just wish the shower walls were stronger. Requires lots of silicone sealant.

This shower looks great. The ease of installation was not that bad. However, once installed and the water was turned on, the shower doors leaked. It is a design flaw. The water gets in between where the doors meet in the middle, there is a rubber seal in between them, however, it does not completely seal the crack up. The water then runs down the door and into the track and splashes to the outside of the shower and getting on the floor. I ordered the 32" shower, maybe with the larger models this would not happen as much? Home Depot phone customer service was amazing and gave me no problems in returning and refunding me for this product. They even sent a truck to pick it up!!! I ended up purchasing a completely different brand and design and no problems with it thus far. Glacier Bay needs to redesign this door!

Shower installation and tips for do it yourselfers

I've probably installed over 900 of the OVE or similar units in Motel 6 and Red Roof Inns. Of coarse they are easy for me to install because I do the rough in from ground in and top out and final trim on the showers. I ve learned the tricks of the installation and what type of tools and extra screws and levelers you need. Where I see most of the problems I read about is from first time installers or do it yourself persons doing these. You need to know exactly where to place your drain in ground with a 2" P-Trap drain and riser in the ground. you need to make sure floor is level. If not this is the time for floor leveler so it drains right. You get this right and the rests a piece of cake. Then before you sheetrock install your base and diverter valve and mount it a 1/2 inch past 2x4 wall to allow for 1/2 green rock and fasten riser for shower head firmly with screws using copper with drop head brass 90 and about 3-4" IP nipple. I use green rock in the bath for mold control and never use regular sheetrock for the corner wall. Once its taped floated and painted then install the walls and final trim with sliding door. On a scale of 1-10 on ease of installation for do it yourselfer I would say 9.

This glass has a fine, soft to the touch pattern on the outside. The inside of the glass is smooth. It doesn't give as much privacy as I would have liked but it is fine. The further away you stand from the glass the more private it becomes. It is surprisingly roomy inside and the doors slide easily and have quite a big opening to step in. We chose not to get the panels because we wanted to tile the wall instead. All of the hardware is pretty and a shiny chrome. The floor pan is nice and feels sturdy but does not have any grip on it so I feel like you could slip if you are not careful. I had to knock a star off because the installation was tough. I had 2 very experienced contractors installing it and they were just shaking their heads at times. We had to re-do the walls to make it square and fit perfect. If your walls are wonky be prepared to do some fixes. Also, make sure you check where your existing drain is if you are replacing another shower like I was. I didn't think to look and we had to jackhammer out the cement and move the pipe. In my personal opinion I would not try and install this yourself unless you are VERY experienced. You will for sure need two people to hold up the glass also. I would still buy it again!
